The Polar FT7 is what I currently use. I had a TimeX Ironman or something prior to this which I also loved until it refused to work. I have no complaints for the FT7. It was well worth the money and the strap is comfortable and washable (HUGE plus).

The bike ride might very well kill me! The first TM is the best, hands down! Enjoy it, don't get all caught up in how far the distance is, you're going to finish it no matter how long it takes. Upper body strength - you need it but even if you're not super strong in your upper body you'll finish you just might spend more…

bump! I want to save this for later, I love guacamole!

I'm not actively training for my TM yet as I have to make it through a 200 mile bike ride in July and my TM isn't until the end of September but I do look forward to starting it after mid July! Will this be your first TM?

"Does this v-neck really make me look more muscular?... Sure it does!"

I'm in! Just joined!

I'm newer to biking but have signed up for a 200 mile ride in July. I opted to do the 200 miles in 2 days (instead of one day) with the hopes of going 130 miles the first day. I have a long ways to go in a little amount of time but I'm looking forward to it :)

Hi there. I'm certainly no expert on this topic as my bike training started roughly a month or two ago but.. I'll chime in where I can. My first ride was 10 miles.. and then I jumped up to 20 for the next few. That's just what I felt good with.. I'm not saying that's what you need to do or anything like that - just what I…

I'm somehwere between 5'8 and 5'9. I currently weigh in at 147ish but I've been as low as 128 when I was training for a half marathon. I would like to be back around 135 or so. I have pictures on my profile if you'd like to see. The one where I am holding a medal was my low weight.

If I had to work out in the morning I'd never work out. I have tried and failed miserably to get my butt out of bed early enough to work out in the morning. That said - I LOVE working out after I get home from work (between 5-6pm). I do not allow myself to get in the house and sit down, I put on my workout clothes and get…

All of these are great. I also like apples and nutella - it tastes like a delicious dessert.

Depends.. did I exercise? No - then I try to be no more than 200 under. If I did exercise then I eat my daily goal and maybe half the exercise calories at minimum. I try not to go over.. and I do not log on weekends.

I've got my fourth TM coming up in September.. I'm also signed up to do a bike ride from Seattle to Portland.. 200ish miles, 2 days.. which is in July. I thought about volunteering for the Portland TM so I could get the discount for Seattle's but I ultimately wanted to be signed up way before the openings for volunteering,…

Have you downloaded the Zombies, Run! or is it Run, Zombies! ? Either way... :)

You can have all the caffeine but... Nachos and dark beer are mine. Every night if I could. With all the jalepenos in the world.
-
I want to get back at it again, I'm in for a minimum of 25. My focus is going to be primarily on cycling and Insanity though.
-
I second that yes. I did Insanity and running together and found it much easier to do my run prior to the Insanity work outs. Don't worry, it gets easier.
-
If I may make a suggestion... Try upping your incline on the treadmill slowly to get up to 1%.. this more closely resembles running outside.. It's going to work some other muscles and may be difficult at first but you'll be thankful when you do make your way outdoors.

I am going on TM #4 this September. Feel free to add me (this goes to anyone just please say hi with the request and something related to TM) and ask any questions.. I would post more here right now but I shouldn't be on the computer at the moment as I have other things calling my name.. procrastination...
-
Now that TM is over for the 3rd time I have signed up for #4. I have 308 days until the next one, better get my *kitten* in gear!

I live in the Seattle area.. I run in the rain! I actually enjoy running in the rain. My advice? Wear something comfortable that will dry quick and not weigh you down. No cotton. None. Not one ounce of it. If it's thunder and lightening I wouldn't risk it outdoors (I grew up in MN and I know thunder and lightening well)…

Don't stress over it. Keep doing what you are able to do and eventually you'll notice you're doing more and more until you are able to finish the DVD's without stopping. I've done Insanity and it's crazy hard and you're going to hurt and feel like *kitten* for at least a week! But it's worth it, the results are hard to…
-
I'm certainly not an expert.. but I've done a lot of research on different training plans for 1/2 and full marathons.. if you have a decent running base (can run 10-12 miles a week already) you can easily find a good training plan to get you to a full marathon in less than a year. www.runnersworld.com has a smart coach…

I wore the Vibram Bikala's for my TM's.. I'll be wearing them again in October for #3 (The same pair). They worked great, never felt like they were going to fall off and the water was no problem nor was the mud. I wore a pair of the special socks to avoid any weird rubbing or dirt from irritating me. IF you do decide to go…

I'll have to check these out. Almost every person I saw in my previous 2 TM's that wore gloves failed at the funky monkey and rings though. I succeeded at both while not wearing gloves BUT my hands got pretty cut up in the end so worth at least checking out and chucking if I decide I don't like them! Thanks!
-
Yep.. I'm going on TM number 3 in October (Seattle). I used the vibrams (bakila no lace) for my previous 2 TM's without heel bruises (bruises and cuts everywhere else though!). Exactly as she said above, run on your forefoot.

I believe what you meant to say is that "Many men and women are just so mis-informed about fitness and nutrition"
-
<--- does that look better? My point is that while I have abs which I can certainly make stand out when I want - they don't always look like that if I'm not trying.
