Big hugs. We just need more people to post all types of stuff. If it would help, I can post some of my yoga poses to show how inflexible I am, and just how many rolls I hide with my miracle tights! (I know you've seen them on my tiktok though! lol). No matter what you do, how much you can lift, or how you look, I just want…

Simple answer: Calories IN: what you eat and drink Calories OUT: what you burn just breathing and existing + daily activity + extra exercise/activity If Calories IN is less than Calories OUT, then you should see a decrease in your weight over time. If Calories IN is more than Calories OUT, then you should see an increase…

I agree that you can't *really* do both (gain muscle and lose weight) at the same time. To lose weight requires a calorie deficit, to gain muscle requires enough energy to build them. If you want to see a visible weight change, then you need a deficit. If you see the weight going up, it's likely you're consuming too many…

Regarding the gym... I have been lifting for 10 years - most of which was in my basement, and I STILL feel anxiety at the gym. I know what I'm doing there and I still feel anxious. There are times when I sit in the parking lot and stress because there are so many cars there and I really don't want to be seen. But I take a…

That just made my day! I have really enjoyed what it's evolved into and am so glad to be able to "listen" to the info you guys share!

if you're looking for specific exercises... bulgarian split squats, walking lunges, hip thrusts, glute bridges, glute kickbacks are all killer for the glutes. You can do them with bodyweight to start and slowly add resistance - whether it's with dumbbells, ankle weights, or using equipment at the gym. Try 3 sets of 8-12…

The best time to workout is when you CAN. Like others, I see my best lifts around mid morning, or mid afternoon (in between meals but earlier in the day). I am NOT a morning person, so the idea of trying to move 200lbs on my back at 6am is akin to torture. It's hard enough lifting my coffee cup that early. Plus my senior…

I'll start this with saying that my physiotherapist once told me that if my job was to be a full time couch potato.. I wasn't flexible enough. This made them very wealthy because I was constantly getting injured. I never stretched, used lighter weights with the same lifts as my warm up, and that was that. Every time they…

Firstly... CONGRATS ON THE NEW PR!!! It does seem like the ones where you touchdown lower on your sternum might be pulling you out of your upper body lock, so then you have to fight harder with lower pec muscles than you normally bench (not sure if I said that in a way that makes sense)... to rephrase - the lifts where you…

I always struggle with finding that perfect ramp up for testing 1RMs. I have done a bunch of googling and asking of friends and this is what they tend to recommend: 6-10 reps @ 50% 3 reps @ 80% 1 rep @ 85% 1 rep @ 90% 1 rep @ 95% 1 rep @ 100% 1 rep @105% But IDK if that has done me any favours with my bench tests. I tend…

14 years ago, I had a mole that turned on me. A few months ago I asked my doc for a referral for a couple that looked suspicious. They booked me in for 2026!!! My first thought was that if any of them were bad, they'd have a chance to make some serious trouble over the next two years. Yesterday I got a call that there was…

Haha yes. It was my Valentine's day outfit. I rarely wear those tights out because they draw waaaaaay too much attention to my... Errr... Squat depth. Lmao. I paired them with my relationship status shirt for the perfect outfit! Of course... Noone at the gym said anything because I haven't made any friends yet. (too shy)…

HItting a 315lb deadlift PR. That seems the closest.

Bench is often a disappointment for me. I'm trying to tweak my form (keeping powerlifting in mind) and still don't see much in the way of gains. Last night I was doing sets at 95% of 1rm. Even though my current bench 1rm is 125, I have been using 130 for my calcs. So I guess 3 sets of 2 isn't bad. Still, I'm not sure if…

Unless you are competing, then I really don't think it matters. (At least not to me). You do the full range of motion that YOU can do, that's good enough for me!

2kg per MONTH to your bench? I haven't been able to add 2pounds in the last 6 months to my bench! sigh. Comparison is silly, really. Our bodies are so entirely different than one another. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I am pretty sure that I would grow a heluva lot faster if I went to the gym more often and more…

You ROCK Gus!!! and you inspire me! If only I could up my PRs by 16kg! That's amazing!

:hugs: thank you

Lol The above poster looks like a lemon. Don't worry, it's just a small group in this thread, and while we do chit chat, it's usually about lifty / exercisey stuff. ;) Your numbers look good (especially considering rehab is happening!) Hope to see you back again!

Thank you. You are a sweetheart!

I have an 18 year old who has been diagnosed with chronic pain / fatigue and fibromyalgia. They recently obtained official government "disability status". They regularly struggle with feelings of ending it all, because they cannot imagine living their whole life this way. I am worried about their future - what life will be…

Interesting thought... If I could change 3 things about my body... I think I would get rid of that lower belly overhang, ditch the cellulite, and fix the gaps in my molars so that I wouldn't always need toothpicks to be comfortable. LOL Though... I do like all yours too. Turns out I need way more than 3.

Looking fantastic (and love the username)

Awesomeness! Way to push!

Haha indeed! I love this pair!

Tonight's session was awesome. 2 rep deadlifts at 290lb! (5 at 275, too!) and three sets of 10 leg press with 4 plates a side (500lbs total)! Felt like a beast tonight! What's even cooler is that I had a FB memory pop up from ten years ago saying I had benched and squatted 65lb and deadlifted 110lb and didn't feel like I…

It's silly but I regularly struggle with chronic dehydration. The fixes... I can't drink water a glass at a time. I get time blind, forget to drink, forget how much I've drank, and walk away. I ended up buying a 64oz water jug off Amazon (and then another off Temu) and commit to drinking that a day. It has made a…
