I definitely have more muscle now than I did last time I lost weight - I've built visible muscle mass in my upper body, core, and quads. I didn't have visible muscle anywhere but my calfs when I was a runner.

I have PCOS, but I don't do well on low carb (insomnia, low energy, low mood). I've lost 60lb in two years, not cutting carbs, not counting calories. I cut out: 1. Refined grains (and gluten of all kinds) 2. Sugar and artificial sweeteners 3. Processed and take out food I try to always balance my carbs with protein/fat, at…

This makes me a little sad - why did no one in my life intervene? I was 20 when I went on my first diet. At 5'8" I weighed 132 lbs, and I wanted to get back down to my 18 year old weight of 119 lbs. I went on Susan Powter's Stop The Insanity (yes, I'm aware of the irony!) low fat diet. I basically lived on white bread,…

I agree, I've tried a few, but Suzanne Bowen's are the best.

I didn't do HIIT today, just a regular barre class.

Yeah. I've found by experimenting that if I do strength training on its own, my mood plummets. I have long term depression. I can only do it as part of cardio.

I do have a very small frame - my wrists are less than 6". Well, this is my current workout routine: Mon, Wed, Fri: 45 minutes exercise bike & weights (I have a recumbent bike, I do intervals on it, alternating between the highest resistance for my legs, and lower resistance where I lift free weights at the same time -…

Thanks ladies! I have a small frame. And I do a lot of strength training. My goal is definitely body recomposition.

I have PCOS too.

Ah, I didn't. Thanks for that.

I only bought the Fitbit for accuracy in calories burned, so I'm not feeling positive about keeping it, right now.

I bought 5lb ankle weights from Pineapple. I did a barre workout with them yesterday and my butt is killing today!

Two years ago, 211 lbs, now, 152 lbs. (I'm 5'10")

I don't think all exercise is equal when it comes to mental health. I also don't think it's one size fits all - you have to find out what works for you. I find that if I do strength training alone, it makes my depression worse. Cardio makes it better (especially if done outside). But surprisingly, the one exercise that…

Pilates Anytime is very good, and not expensive. I'm also a fan of Barre3, and Suzanne Bowen. I've actually switched from Pilates to barre completely, as I find it much more effective.

Hi, I'm new here! But I had to respond to this. I have/had CFS/ME. Two years ago I was incapacitated to the point of needing to use a stick to walk with, and sometimes needing a wheelchair. Standing for more than a few minutes would wipe me out for days. I was also, understandably, 60lb overweight. And in constant pain, on…
