To me she doesn't look underweight in the first pic? Also she's not said she wants to gain more weight. Her post is about other people's comments

As others have said, to me you look great and not at all skinny but I know it's how you feel inside that counts. I was thin for years and have had the same kind of comments you've had - I still get them even though I've gained and am now well within what's normal for my height. For some reason, many people think it's OK to…

Ps just a thought - if you could manage not to nap, you might find you sleep longer at night. Giving up day time naps was the main thing that improved my sleep.

I'm a chronic insomniac. I have, by improving my sleep hygeine and doing all the things you're told to do to improve your sleep, managed to settle into a regular pattern of around 6 hours, sometimes a bit more and sometimes less, and have accepted that's the way I am. I know that getting more would be ideal but I've tried…

It's true that you didn't say its not OK for an overweight person to get fit. You did, however, make reference to overfed, overly pc, lazy American culture which I think is why people are taking issue with your post. And I speak as someone who isn't and never has been overweight but works out at home precisely because of…

And they don't - shock, horror - force you to eat pizza!

Sometimes my dog is the only thing that gets me out of the house and moving. Yay for dogs. :)

Wow. This is one reason I workout at home rather than at a gym. Marketing strategy or not, if it gets people exercising who would otherwise sit at home, then bring it on. People who don't want to use them don't have to

I agree with the above about getting up (and having breakfast) earlier, eating smaller and more frequent meals and drinking your calories in the form of high calorie shakes and smoothies. And the links about being a "hard gainer" have really helped me. Are you weighing and logging your food accurately? Using an accurate…

No, sugar doesn't do this any more than any other food but I agree with the above - I can't see how you could be chubby. Also I think you've posted this twice? Or at least, there's another thread lower down with exactly the same title

I don't know but following as this happens to me too. It feels like tight muscles

Findus Crispy Pancakes. Plus Entemanns cake - no longer available in the UK. Also Philadelphia Cream cheese in blocks instead of revolting sloppy stuff in tubs.
-
Another +1 for spiralising veg. Plus where I am, you can get butternut squash lasagne sheets which I thought sounded revolting until I tried them!
-
Ps forgot to mention chocolate! The dark type supposedly "healthier" but also lower in calories. Plus you can't go wrong with a snickers bar!
-
And rice cakes? Hmmm I'd go for nuts, dried fruit, bananas, nut butters, protein shakes... I often have to eat this way during the day time and find I can easily reach my calorie goal. And, if you can manage to fit in a decent breakfast before you have to leave for work, it helps - something quick like porridge or Granola…

It's true we tend to focus only on the things we dislike about our appearance, whereas others see the whole person. But, I also think it's unlikely anyone who would say, my god you look so much older. Unless they're incredibly rude!
-
Yes! And you can go back for second helpings!!

I'm not keen on veg either, but they all taste great with melted butter :D

Would there be any benefit in him seeing a physical therapist? Only asking as my mother had difficulty in swallowing after her stroke and physio was very helpful - she was given swallowing exercises. I know his issue is not physical but might be worth a try. It might help to build his confidence in his body's natural…

Those pictures made me smile :) My son is like that, a volume eater (but not as lean as you) Very impressive!

Cheers!

Slightly off topic but, this thread reminded me I have a bottle of maple syrup on my shelf so thought I'd try it pre-workout. Then looked at label and realised it says, store in fridge? Can any of you experts tell me if this is really necessary? I don't want to bin it, but with an inflammatory bowel disorder and…

I'm in the UK and also found this confusing when I first started logging but assumed that cooked rice is lighter than uncooked, hence the difference. Now I'm confused all over again. The rice and pasta I use (Tesco) gives uncooked and cooked calories. It also tells you approx how much uncooked rice = one serving and how…

It's what I started on (at the age of 60)before going on to stronglifts. It's a good starting point. Recently I've had to go back to it because of an injury and it's helped me to retain my strength

I'm with you on this. Equally irritating is when people say, well your husband loves you the way you are, as if that were the only thing that mattered.

I envy men their ability to grow a beard!

I've always been slim /thin and when I was younger it was great. However, when I got to my mid 50s (I'm now 63) I noticed I was ageing more quickly than my larger friends of the same age. I went from looking younger than I was, to (in my opinion) looking about 10 years older. I second that about turkey neck and loathe…

Yeah, fair enough, point taken! :)

Me too :D

That site isn't selling it, at least not when I looked at it But, I agree it's probably all BS
