I realize this is late, but I've been eating home made whipped cream at night in place of store-bought ice cream. It's just like Sunny_Bunny described in post 2. Last night I added finely-grated ginger root. (Ginger ice cream is pretty popular in Japanese restaurants.)

Folks who are hypothyroid should try to avoid Cruciferous vegetables: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruciferous_vegetables OTOH, iodine-rich food such as seaweed (seriously) might help. Good luck!

I've had to cut out certain dairy. The heavy cream triggered my old issues. I was hoping that my history of problems with dairy was due only to the additives, but I pushed myself too hard. I am able to tolerate ghee, goat/feta cheese and mozzarella, so I plan to keep those in my diet for awhile longer.

I am, quite unimaginably, a 53 Year Old White Male. Apologies for being so dull. ;)

I eat the nibs, usually mixed into almond butter. Have you looked into baker's chocolate? It's difficult to eat as a chocolate bar, but you could shave some off to use as a topping for a shake or whipped cream.

Yes, oversold on relative risk. Here's a link to a study on the efficacy of a statin med: http://www.oxfordjournals.org/our_journals/eurheartj/ehr333final_esc_congress.pdf On slide 3, you can see that of all those in the study, 7.3% of placebo-takers died from a cardiovascular event, while 6.6% of those taking the statin…

Here's a link to the Beef Merlot product on the Atkins website. It has a link to the ingredients list. I see a lot of undesirable ingredients: wheat, modified food starch, caramel color, canola oil, corn oil plus things I'd have difficulty typing. (I can't copy / paste.) So this is why I never buy them. I'd love it if…

Okay, I found an additive-free heavy cream. I enjoy having a four ounce glass of it after I get home from work to brace myself for feeding the cats and dog. I always liked my ice cream melted, too, in the olden days.

While I haven't tried BPC exactly, I've added various powders to my coffee & ghee blend. The powders include: carob, cocoa, turmeric, ginger, cayenne (just a pinch). They were either alone or in various combinations.

I've had PCPs enter into the system all the vitamins I take as if they were medications. If it were me, I would keep taking the vitamins. With less daylight time, Vit D3 needs to be increased, for sure. Some B vitamins are important for nerve health and mood. Omega3, ditto. The only exception was if there was anything I…

Thanksgiving is easy for me -- lots of dark meat turkey with skin, maybe a tablespoon each of cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. Several asparagus spears or 1/2 broccoli. Lately we've been substituting mashed turnips for mashed potatoes, so I'll go up to 1/2 cup of that. And lots of butter. I stopped eating stuffing…

My ND also suggested getting up to eat a fatty protein snack rather than staying in bed and hoping to fall back asleep. But between his supplements and the LCHF diet, I resumed sleeping through the night after only a few days of starting his regimen. And yes, I am grateful for that. I wish you all the same success!

A ha! Thanks!

I saw that someone mentioned high cortisol. My ND told me that night time waking was due weak adrenals that are unable to produce enough cortisol to keep blood sugar from dropping too low. So instead the adrenals pump out adrenaline, which produces that jolt. Mine used to kick in about four or five hours after going to…

Well, I enjoy drinking half-n-half straight. I haven't found any heavy cream that doesn't have carrageenan or disodium phosphate in it, so I haven't bought any. I guess I use 2oz of H-n-H in my coffee or tea.
-
awesome! well done!

Just the opposite. I'd wake up when my meals consisted of a normal or higher amount of carbs. It was probably from blood sugar crashing. But on LCHF, my blood sugar is more stable, I sleep through the night, and I struggle to wake up. Good luck!

Your friends are all drinking coffee, but you're sucking down the little cups of half-n-half.

I had no idea, either. Thanks to you I was able to import the Practical Paleo Apple Struesel Muffin recipe that my wife likes so much.

Good job, @MamaDreams0510 ! I started last week, but I didn't get below 30g carbs until yesterday.

My challenge is that I usually avoid a lot of the typical ingredients found in bars: dairy, soy, coconut, PB, anything derived from corn or wheat. But for now I'm making an exception for dairy and coconut. Also, I don't bother with anything coated in chocolate except in winter because the chocolate melts to the wrapper.

This is breakfast on a good day... Two eggs as a sort of pizza crust, scrambled then fried in ghee on both sides in a small pan. Topped it with fried-in-ghee peppers or zucchini and whole milk mozz cheese to glue it all together on top. I used a lid to get the cheese to melt.

I'm from Connecticut. I just started keto last week. Yesterday was my first day below 30g. Back in 2007 I started on the Blood Type Diet for type O, which is sort of paleo, but it allows some grains, dairy and legumes. Also, I don't do ham/pork/bacon.

My guess is that the idea of @samanthaluangphixay where you eat your veggies before you run might work. But it's really only a guess.

Have you seen http://www.DiabetesWarrior.net @MiamiDawn? His blog is like one long-running BG science experiment with intermittent "jabs" at the ADA.

Try seltzer water. I like to drink it when I'm in that state. But instead of tummy noises, you might have another noise, like BUUUURRRRP. ;)

Thanks so much, @canadjineh. I bought two but I haven't tried one yet. They were on sale: 2 for $5.
-
I just add a negative amount of carbs to each meal.

You are amazing! Well done!
