A lot of people who count macros usually have physique goals that call for precision. From where you're at, it sounds like you're more focused on dropping weight and retaining muscle while doing it. Since MFP's data base is crowd-sourced a lot of the macros on the entries are a bit off, even if the calories are right. It's…

^This. Also this. I can't stress this strongly enough. Getting to the root of why you're binging is a big help. Also, whatever you do, don't try to compensate for binges by over-restricting. Doing that will just lead to further binging. After a binge, just go back to a regular, sensible deficit, and let things sort…

I was thinking of this thread and something is confusing me. I know you don't weigh foods, so that likely figures some into SideSteel's calorie level rec for you, but... you've been losing two pounds a week. And you're eating 1500-1600 for maintenance? Something there is very off, unless we're using the term diet break in…

Counting "steps" and giving you a calorie burn for them are two different things. If you do a lot of driving over very bumpy roads in a car with bad suspension, you might get an inflated burn from Fitbit because of the way it measures intensity, but for most people, they're not going to get much of a calorie adjustment…

OMG... how awful. Is your son okay?

I lift with my 16 year old! My cardio is my "me" time.

I couldn't handle triptans either because they closed my throat. If your doctor will only prescribe triptans as rescue meds, ask for a referral to a specialist. DHE is a godsend. You can get it as a nasal spray or an injectable.

All of this. I'm truly boggled by how many people who have taken the time to calibrate their devices who have worn them for some time, who have tracked data, and who find them to be pretty much spot on whenever I see "studies" like this.

Following up from this, even when your face looks somewhat "gaunt" initially following weight loss, there's some settling and softening after time spent in maintenance that renders how one looks in the immediate aftermath a pretty unreliable metric to go by.

I think the strong clove note in allspice would be wrong for the dish.

The only time I ever had that issue was when I was having one of my less severe migraines while I was eating too few calories/over-restricting. Saying that, if your migraines are frequent, do speak to your doctor about a good course of treatment. I'm on a similar drug protocol to what worked for sijomial except my…

This is how I've always felt about it. Not logging it has ever had any impact on my results.

Try the cardamom. It's got a different flavor and will add a bright note to balance the heat of the pepper flakes.

I think nutmeg isn't quite right. I'd just do without it. Edit: I thought of one you could possibly try that might work! Cardamom. Try maybe half to 3/4 the amount.

Cinnamon is part of the Moroccan spice flavor profile, but if you have an allergy or just flat out hate it, just leave it out. It's not really the most prevalent taste in the dish. If you just don't like it, you could always cut the amount and let it fade more into the background but still do its work as part of the flavor…

What a fun idea! I just made this last week, and it was fabulous. I didn't use stewed tomatoes, I just used a can of whole peeled tomatoes since I already had them on hand. I added more kale than the recipe called for and used butternut, not pumpkin. https://simple-veganista.com/moroccan-pumpkin-chickpea-stew/

I agree with you EXCEPT I will die on the hill of a calorie not being a term that in any way should be conflated with the nutrition in a food item and that other hill that CICO is not calorie counting or any specific diet. ;)

I'm always cold. Before menopause, I did overheat, but I still didn't sweat. I would get dizzy and get headaches if I was out in the heat too long. With exercise, I've never pushed it to the point of overheating because by then I have a migraine. I get them from exertion if I go too hard too long.

He loves all things strawberry and I would love to find a strawberry flavored one! I'll have to look online.

I'm 56 and that's all behind me. I never had a drop of sweat with my hot flashes or "night sweats". I just turned bright red.

The thing is one can eat in a Med-style and cook Indian inspired dishes using olive oil instead of ghee. We're not aiming to be purists here. I like lemurcat's idea of calling this all blue zone eating rather than Med.

This. I just don't sweat. Full stop. I don't sweat in heat. I don't sweat with exertion from hard exercise. Except for my hands and under my breasts, and it's really just barely. I don't sweat. Neither does my daughter.

I IF'ed and reached my highest weight of 210 pounds. There was no fancy name for it, it was just my normal eating pattern. I'd been eating in that pattern since the '90's. I lost weight eating in that pattern too. The difference between gaining in an eating window and losing in an eating window? Controlling my calories.…

Thanks! He's not too keen to start taking it at night yet since he can't stand the taste of it, but at least the option is there. We'll definitely be adding magnesium though. For the OP, from what I can see, chelated magnesium glycinate is the kind to get for sleep issues.

I think it's a great idea to journal it here. I think it will be helpful for others to see the impact of the diet break on the scale and on your training, both during the break and afterwards.

Thanks!

When do you take the CBD oil as a sleep aid? We have it for our son to help with focus during homeschooling but he suffers with insomnia. We're waiting for a doctor's appointment, but that's not until March. So any help would be welcome. As to the topic of the original post, I had sleep issues for years. When I was at the…

Whenever I'm Googling recipes, I zero in on a particular ingredient plus cuisine type and go from there. So something like "Italian chickpea recipes" or "Greek fish recipes" might yield you results.

Your specific SI joint and facet joint issues likely need some intervention with a physical therapist before starting any exercise program, even a gentle, graded one.

That was art.
