Also, see if there is a Parkrun where you live. Free timed 5k walk/runs every Saturday.

In case no one has mentioned it, try the couch to 5K. :)

I like mine, but then toss it off as it gets too warm.

My Garmin would do the same until I picked up a HR strap and then went for a hard 5K run. I guess it doesn't calculate max HR off the wrist, but needed the strap to do the testing. Anyway I went from 150 being in the solid red to being at the top of the blue. Max HR is about 185 now where it had assumed ~165 (220 - Age).…

I'm working on picking up my cadence so my watch is helpful for that. But I do flip between screens on it.

Cuz I left it in the bathroom, or by the couch, or in the kitchen, or anywhere else in the house where I am currently not. It's a nice feature.

Have a Fenix 3HR and will run short runs with it. If I'm going for a longer or, or a training specific run I put on the chest strap. It does give better HR numbers. I've seen my wrist one go to 185 when I know my HR isn't that high.

I know it's a bit late, but am I wrong to look at that and think it's a great idea?

This. The article does not say CICO doesn't work. He just questions whether counting calories works. I think the snippet in the article is wrong, but I wouldn't say he is wrong as I doubt the article linked is actually what he's said. Seems to be a poor translation. CICO <> calorie counting.

Pretty normal, and I had the same experience. Typically, you start eating fewer carbs (not low carb, just less pizza and chips) and that reduces your glycogen storage, which reduces the water you carry. 1 unti (g, oz, lb, whatever) of glycogen needs 3-4 units of water in your body. Take it as a bonus and realize you won't…

Yes, yes I would. Except the language would have been more colourful.

This is one of the more non-sensical arguments I've seen made here. You think people are lying (hint, they are) but in the off chance they are not lying it proves your point? There is no question there are hard gainers, but there are underlying reasons for it that you just are not seeing. Whether it is overestimating…

Are you trailering or hotelling? If pulling a trailer, I've done that from the Okanagan to mid-Oregon and might have some insights.
-
If you haven't, you need to. You really need to.

Going Greek Friday night. All I can think about is the Saganaki. They light it up at the table.

I knew something looked off.

I can sleep if I have caffeine in the afternoon/evening, so when I don't want water it's diet A&W for me.

Glad to see some can still respond with info to GH. Not worth my effort.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

???? 40 mins should be more than 5K and easily in the 400 cal range. Anyway, this thread amused me today.

Hold on. She cut out bread and pasta. That means a lot less carbs than normal so 8 lbs in a month may be a ton of water weight. Maybe don't jump too much back on the more food train and see what happens over the next month. I expect your weight loss will be much slower than 8 lbs a month. Be careful about your nutrition,…

No registered dietician will talk about starvation mode.

Love mine. Use it 3-4 times a week. But basic stuff I don't feel like turning the oven on for. A lot of french fries get done in mine. Be sure to get the basket for it. Helps with those things you don't need stirred.

And I so wanted to read your reply :)

3 things to not talk about around the lunch table. Politics, religion and diets. :)
-
Huh. Looks like we lost someone. That sucks.
-
Yeah, like you'll ever "grow up"....

I've really started to treat these conversations like religion or politics. One guy at work is IF, one lady is all about the insulin etc. but if it gets too much at lunch I pack up my food and go back to my desk.
