This is kind of what is happening to me...at the beginning I was losing 4-5 pounds a week; now I'm fluctuating between smaller losses.

Diet change, exercise, and weight loss can cause some hormone fluctuation, which can cause spotting or other changes in your cycle. Once you establish a rhythm your body will get equilibrium back and your cycle will normalize. If symptoms get worse, however, re-visit your doctor just to cover your bases.
