  • Day 2!! Day 2 was a quiet studio day, so just my basic walk there and back. I had a prominent breakdown in the office of one of the lecturing staff today so think I'll go easy on myself tonight and pick up the strength training again tomorrow. Food... wraps, corn and vegan fillet things! Lazy but effective. Had to double…
  • Hahahah. Thank you! Yeah I'm thrilled!
  • *gigglesnort at picture* Day one is grand for me. Active, did strength training, food is sorted. Hit a goal today too so started off the 30 days on a positive note! 70lbs lost! How about you?
  • I'm always good with new friends! Add away
  • My goal is to continue with my diet (70lbs lost as of today!) and start working on getting my body fat percentage down. In an ideal world, I'd crack a 'normal' BMI by the end of the 30 days, but as I've 12lbs til then, that's a bit of an overshoot. But a loss is a loss is a loss, and as long as I'm closer, I'm happy. I'm…
  • Spices are one of the few things I don't log. 2 calories of oregano is not worth my time. Those sorts of things, in my experience, are areas where the MFP database is wildly inaccurate. I got 2500 calories for 15g of fresh garlic once (which is like... several cloves). It's nothing like that, at all.
  • I am firmly on the IF train. I don't think it gives me a weight loss advantage, but I like it and it's generally how I've always eaten, so it works for me. I work with a 23/1 window. AKA OMAD (one meal a day). So my food diaries are terrifying. I am evidence that you can eat a kilo of mashed potato in a day and still lose…
  • Hello! This is my first time taking part in a challenge-type-thing, up until now I've just been peddling along with my diet. Consistent loss. S'good. Never hurts to try something new though. I've been vegan for 10 years so I am Queen of All Carbs Ever and also pay zero attention to my macros. Down 68lbs so far. More to go…

  • Vegan of 10 years here. I am a wise old vegan sage... I have a rhubarb stalk equipped as a staff, my robes are made entirely of lettuce, and I have a vial of mashed potato around my neck hanging from a necklace made of spiralised squash. *low chanting about broccoli* Mostly kidding. The 10 year thing is true though. I log…
  • Is it possible? Maybe, but it's quite unlikely. It's fairly widely acknowledged that 2lbs/week is the highest anyone can safely aim for. It's the highest MFP will let you select for a reason - anything higher would likely involve a very sharp deficit and you might find yourself feeling unwell or damaging your body. June…
  • I do OMAD (23:1). Lost 68lbs so far (6 months). Calorie cycle enthusiast too, but taking a break from that at present. Feel free to add for one delightfully high-calorie vegan meal daily!
  • Vegan of 10 years here... feel free to friend if you'd like to look over my diary.
  • Hello! Vegan of 10 years here. You're welcome to friend me if you'd like.
  • Vegan of 10 years... ritual carb offender... 67lbs down. I exceed MFP's carb count daily. High carb isn't inherently bad. Veganism, by sheer merit of excluding food groups which make up the majority of protein-dense foods, does lend itself towards high-carb. As others have said, the default macros on MFP aren't designed…
  • Either have a meal before you go, or eat in moderation at the party? If you opt not to eat while there (either eating before or after) and someone notices, there is a small risk of questioning! I'm an intermittent faster (and vegan of 10 years) and if someone clocks me 'not taking part' with food I get quizzed about it - I…

  • I'm not all the way at the end of my planned loss yet, but I have some loose skin and I expect I'll have some more. It depends on a number of things... your skin elasticity, existing stretch marks, activity level, time you were bigger, your frame, how much you've lost, age, etc etc etc. It's difficult to predict what will…
  • I do both. I often end up 'eating clean' as a byproduct of long-term veganism. I also got up to 224lbs as a vegan - so that should be enough to say that clean doesn't mean 'automatic deficit'. Practising CICO has gotten me back to 162lbs so far - take from that what you will. In my opinion (keyword: opinion), a…
  • I've been on 1200 calories for months - 5'3, fairly sedentary, have gone from 224 to 162 and my calorie goal is still identical. I find telling others about my calorie goals can cause concern - everyone's got the infamous 2000 in their minds - my TDEE is around 1800 so I would outright gain on that! If you don't feel…
  • Broccoli is great for this. Packed full of vitamins and exceptionally low-cal. Makes for a good extra towards any meal for making it a little bigger! You'd have to eat about 3.5kg of the stuff in a day to meet 1200 calories - and I doubt most people could physically get that down in a day - considering the average head of…
  • I gain 6lbs~ temporarily every time! I start retaining water the week before and don't lose the water until the party's over. The scale and I aren't friends for two entire weeks. Upside is the whoosh at the end!
  • The jeans I bought in the summer that made me look and feel as squashed as an empty toothpaste tube are now, as of yesterday, entirely unflattering for completely different reasons - they're far too big and I have to hike them up constantly. Yay!
  • I'm not exactly a salad lover on any other day of year, but to (what I assume is) your point - I'm staying on my diet throughout. It's just another day. Oddly, Christmas Day marks day 100 of my diet... I haven't been interested in cheat days in any of those 100 days, and Christmas is no different for me. There's only two…
  • Even if your plans were absolutely identical and you did everything the same... it depends on a few factors. I'm not sure what your starting weight and his starting weight were, but keep in mind that those who are higher in BMI tend to lose weight a little faster at first. I was sometimes losing 6 pounds a week at the…
  • I'm 22 - had 90 to lose, now 75! Pop me a message if you'd like.
  • Yes! Hello! Vegan of 10 years but boy oh boy do those Oreos add up! I also used to hate cooking... too much bloody peeling and chopping... however I have managed to abolish junk food and have even avoided the temptation of the newly-released Gary! Pop me a message if you'd like
  • Scot reporting in! Near-ish Glasgow.
  • Well, there's no sense in crying over spilled milk, I guess. The calories have been consumed and there's no sense beating yourself over the head about it. Ask him not to buy you food gifts if you think it might be too much of a temptation, and follow some of the advice listed in this thread - moderate it - one a day or a…
  • Agreed, and I wouldn't recommend what I'm doing to everyone. It works for me at the moment because I'm pretty overweight. Over time, it's quite likely I'll have to change how I acquire my deficit and actually tune my calories up for a while to continue losing. I may actually have to leave my desk once in a while *gasps…
  • 5'4" and usually taking in 1000-1200, however my lifestyle is exceptionally sedentary. I'm a student and spend a lot of time sitting down reading. I 'top up' a little if I have a particularly active day. For example, today I have to walk across town to attend lectures and back again, so I'll eat a little more today. I'm…
