  • The advice given is solid and nobody has been rude to you. If you are determined that following the (frankly very good) advice given in this thread won't work - you are the only person who is impacted by that. I would like to add, also - having lost 99lbs in the last 11 months following the same advice you've been given -…
  • Glad to hear it. Admittedly, it sucks, but physics sadly won't have it any other way. I miss the days where I could sneeze and lose 2lbs - but when you have far less human to keep alive and carry around, you can't coast at a steep deficit unless you're really active - which isn't particularly safe at 1200!
  • 1200 is the lowest MFP will go, because much less is dangerous unless medically supervised. You can either live with a slower loss rate or increase activity. Assuming you're not being medically supervised (to net below 1200 for extended periods of time), option 1 is the best bet.
  • I walk quite a lot these days. I was a very heavy smoker, recently quit, so intense cardio generally means I can't breathe. I know it's good to work hard and feel a little breathless, but not dead-breathless. Walking is good for the time being until my lungs recover a little!
  • As everyone else has said... it's the only reason diets work. To the point though: I've lost 90lbs so far just by counting calories. Went from 224 to 134 on math alone. Haven't had access to a scale for a couple weeks so probably looking at 91-92 lost by now, but that's not confirmed! I don't really have any set plan for…
  • Thanks! I swear it's not as bad as it looks. Old in-joke about my first World of Warcraft character that stuck with me.
  • Hello! Ayr here.
  • I use a blend of all possible metrics  For a long time, it was entirely about getting my BMI in to the 'normal' box. Now that it is, I entertain my vanity and look towards optimising the performance of my body (I'd like it to be alive for as long as possible). So, the mirror, the tape measure, and the scale are…
  • I know I'm sort of echoing what's been said throughout - but scientifically, no, you won't lose 40 in a month. At my highest weight I lost about 25lbs in 5 weeks or so. But I was 224lbs, so that makes a lot of sense. Higher BMR and big water loss. Your stats are pretty similar to mine (I'm 161cm and 139lbs) and feasibly…
  • I eat a lot of spaghetti. A large part of my motivation to stay on OMAD is so I can eat ALL the pasta. I eat large quantities of pasta multiple times a week. I've also lost 85lbs in the last 7 and a half months.…
  • I know that feeling! I am astonished when I look at some of the things I used to eat mindlessly, and it rather quickly helps me to understand why I became so markedly obese. Obviously, almost everyone can wriggle some 'comfort' food in to their nutritional needs if they so desire, but the sensation of like... mindlessly…
  • Also on 1200, because I am the height of the average garden gnome and move about as often as one. Feel free to add!
  • I think if I can count (probably not) the 30 days are over, technically! Wow!! That's incredible progress! Well done you! I'm getting closer and closer to my goal so everything is getting a little slow for me... TDEE has dropped considerably but I can't really cut out any more food than I currently am. I would have to up…
  • As others have said - calorie negative foods aren't a thing, really. The stuff you're eating is just lower in calories than whatever you were eating before. You don't 'need' a maintenance day. Feel free to have as many as you like, however. There are no rules!
  • Congratulations!! Keep the good work up :)
  • As eeeeeveryone else has said... depends where you live. I live in Scotland. We very possibly have the best tap water in the world. There is almost no reason to rely on bottled water here. I buy it occasionally, but mostly for the bottle itself - I have super sensitive lips and washable/re-usable bottles just break me out…
  • Thank you. I don't *actively* restrict certain foods on OMAD, however, I've been vegan 10 years, and that continues. I got up to 224lbs as a vegan so I wouldn't get too worried that X food will have X effect - it all applies in CICO. I tend to avoid stuff that's more calorie dense but low volume (potato chips were my…
  • Hey OP, as I said in your other OMAD thread - I don't believe it gives me any competitive edge to losing weight. I think I would have lost the same amount at the same intake but spread over separate meals. OMAD does prevent me from snacking though, and I enjoy it, so I stick with it. If it works for you, it works for you -…
  • Hey. Been following OMAD for 6 months (down 73lbs). You're welcome to add me. If I'm honest, I don't think it actually made much difference to how I lost weight. I think I'd have lost the same if I'd eaten the same calories but spread over 3 meals. It did prevent me from grazing and overeating though. You never go to bed…
  • Reminds me of this, for some reason...
  • I finally got my damn scale to move. Yay for water drops. 9lbs til I'm not overweight! Unless I suddenly have a water drop to rival the average monsoon, I still won't get that within the 30 day window, but I'll be closer! Tonight, I will be eating a cavernous bowl of pasta, vegan pesto, corn, broccoli and soy fillets on my…
  • 5'3 here - started 182 days ago at 224lbs, now 152lbs and keeping at it. The more I lose, the more I realise how tiny my bone structure actually is, so I don't know what exactly my goal is! Vegan, 23/1 intermittent faster. Feel free to add.
  • You are hilarious. On topic though, hello week one. I am retaining so much water. Constant deficit, some excersize. I've lost on measurements but the scale not moving bugs the life outta me. Theory at present is that I'm potassium deficient as I'm perma-dizzy and my water retention has been getting steadily worse for a…
  • I would definitely double-check those numbers as I am not a medical professional, and make sure you're aware of the symptoms of water intoxication. I've certainly gotten close to 2 gallons (over the course of the whole day, not 8 hours) and lived to tell the tale but I am not representative of everyone. I drink over a…
  • I joke that I'm the most hydrated person in Scotland. I get through a minimum of 5L (169 US fl. oz) a day. The upper limits I've heard for most - no more than 1L/hour, or 15L/day (becomes dangerous kidney-wise). Closest I ever got was 8L, and I was... sooooo ridiculously cold all day, chugging all that cold water, but I…
  • Humans destroyed the rose of murder! How dare we! I seem to get nicked by them every time I handle them. I assume our piddly British roses haven't been entirely voided of prickles yet. And I am absolutely stealing that factoid about prickles. Haaa. Very good. A+ plant knowledge.
  • They're all orange on my underground so I didn't make the link . And as for the food place... I've never been inside so wouldn't know! Plants! Erm... Only stuff I can think of is 'why are dandelions furry?' and 'why are roses sadists?'. Quality questions. *cough*
  • Likewise, I don't know how you can eat that! I am a rare breed though - a vegan who vehemently loathes avocados. Yeugh. Weird green slime. I tried vegan keto very briefly... nightmare zone. Vegan without the vegetables (or the wheaty stuff...). I was practically drinking oil to keep up. Never again.
  • Thank you! I don't think I know what subway tiles are... like, the food place or the... underground train system? Or a very specific type of tile?!
  • The beauty of OMAD is that you can eat all the pasta ever and still lose weight. Today's haul. Will last me a maximum of 6 weeks. 6kg in total. Oregano for scale.
