Great, so If we're already getting a benefit from overnight, how much additional benefit is gained from prolonged fasting... and how much longer must it be prolonged for meaningful/useful additional benefit to be acheived?
-
Was it the dropbox link? I couldn't find anything else that looked promising.

Oh, and a gentle request, IF you're going to post screen shots over pasting text, use the Spoiler formatting so that your posts are easier to read and don't do all sorts of wacky force scrolling effects.

Useful information like how many patients, how long the study went. What fasting period was used. Whether/how calories and metabolic activity were tracked. Little basic stuff.
-
Energy boost not really. For many there's an emotional/mental/spiritual clarity that shows up around 18-24 hours into a water fast. But not everyone experiences that in the same way or to the same degree.
-
No, just those who can read and vet sources and review the research and distinguish between what a study actually shows and what a hype/fluff piece asserts it demonstrates.
-
You really should actually vet your sources http://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2623528 https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/81/1/69/4607679 https://insights.ovid.com/crossref?an=01938924-201802000-00016 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1550413118302535 Paywalled

Mostly because you've not yet posted any sources. This is a civil debate, and when you present a hypothesis it is expected that you'll support it with well qualified and vetted sources. So it's NOT condescending when you're asked to present qualified sources that support your assertions. Its good manners... even civil.

If you're referring to DOMS soreness, try stretching afterwards or foam rolling.

I would certainly agree with this counsel. Take the MFP number for losing 2 lbs per week, take estimated TDEE for a 250 lb and 24.9 BMI person of your height. And the low and high calorie numbers from those 3 methods should give you a wide and comfortable range for daily calorie intake. It's a long road ahead of you, and…

So it's weight loss that causes all those benefits. NOT fasting? Just want to be clear, because you said that it's FASTING that causes those benefits.

Necro thread and MLM. Well on my way to a bingo.

Congrats. I know the feeling.

So I could eat 3 steaks, 4 apple pies, and 5 Baked potatoes every day and lose weight, as long as I fasted the other 22 hours of the day? I lived in a Muslim Country a few years ago and kept Ramadan with my Muslim friends. I neither gained nor lost weight. Neither did any of my friends.
-
Your claim is that Fasting causes weight/fat loss regardless of deficit. That's contrary to established science. SO, I want a reference so I can see for myself.

If you're eating at out at restaurants every day, Go crazy, go to 900. Because your ACTUAL intake will remain well above 1200. The only person getting huffy is you, when you continue and persist in clinging to the idea that you "KNOW" why you're losing, and you're mistaken. Keep doing the same old thing, and you'll get the…

So None. Got it. "I know a guy I trust and he has the studies" just doesn't carry the water.
-
Please link these studies, that show these benefits.

Try a refurb or NOS(New old stock) Vivoactive 1 with a Wahoo or Schosche HRM.

There's very limited(almost no) benefit to going below "parallel/90 degree elbow bend" for pushups. There is more benefit from doing static holds at the top and the bottom of the planked pushup.
-
it is.

Just because you don't like the answer, doesn't make it false. If you're at the point in your weight loss journey where you're at minimum calorie allowance(1200) You have 2 options. 1. accept that you're not going to lose any more weight 2. tighten up your logging The further along your journey, the less margin for error…

I suspect that many folks who are sensing pushback are posting limited context comments or questions and are perceiving a quest for context as pushback. Hypothetical-not all that hypothetical below OP-"I'm going keto for weightloss and it sucks and I hate it" MFP-"Why have you chosen Keto for weightloss?" OP-"Because I…

Not with an intact skin. May only be good for baking, but they're still good for something.

Don't beat yourself up. Losing a family member sucks. Don't let the loss and the slip up gang up on you. It happened, and was a perfectly normal response to that level of stress. Time to get back on the horse and go back to what's been working for you. Different people find different things therapeutic. Most people find…

Beg pardon, humbly. I shall make a note in my helpful journal.
