I asked what the pain level would be... since I've never had an abdominal surgery.... he told me "go home, get a hammer, smash your thumb, it wont be that bad."... LOL. I'm sorry, I am not much help. I work in the Health Information field, so I see all the accounts that the surgeons do, their OP reports, the possible…

This!! I do this when my son is grounded from TV/electronics. I just put a lock on all the plugs (you can get little luggage locks at Wal-Mart, comes in a pack of 4). Eventually all the electronics die. and cannot be charged until he is ungrounded.

That is an excellent idea!! I'll have to look around for a tri/box reusable thing. It would be more cost effective too. Thanks @jcavanna2!!!

The nutritionist has said nuts are too fatty. (I dont care for peanuts) The handbook they give out, has a serving (heart healthy fats-one per meal if needed) as: almonds-6 nuts peanuts-10 nuts pecans- 4 halves pistachios- 16 nuts sunflower seeds- 1Tb walnuts- 4 halves. i'm sure the diet recommendation varies from surgery…

I just realized this was here.... I'll have my gastric bypass 5/16/2017.-- In Kansas City, Missouri, at St. Luke's Health System start weight, 10/3/16- 313 weigh currently: 275 I'm sure I'll lose on the pre-op diet. shoe size between 7 1/2 & 8 depending on the shoe. 3XL shirts... down to 2XL now I stopped paying attention…

I am so thankful that I don;t have to do the liquid diet pre-op for two weeks. I'll get two meals, of 3-4 ounces of protein, and 1/2-1 cup non-starchy veggies. then two protein drinks. I'm not too worried about the post op diet, I've heard so much that you aren't hungry, also heard you miss chewing. I have my Pre-OP appt…

I agree... Set a phone alarm. Download a drink water app. I actually think a water app would be a good idea... I know I'll have to have reminders for vitamins. why not for drinking water too?

My nutritionist filled out a thing for nutrition direct for nascobal vitamin B spray prescription, and they will mail it to your house monthly (all the bariatric vitamins come for free with the nasal vitamin B spray-- once a week up your nose, granted I havent started yet.) With insurance, it only is $25/month for me, with…

losing my hair is a BIG fear for me. When I got divorced (ages ago) it caused a stress response, and my hair started falling out. That added more stress. Since I did go thru that, I know my hair will grow back, and it wont all fall out at the same time. It just has never thickened like it was before 2004. :/

My career choice is what scares me the most!! I know all the things that can go wrong with a surgery, and with the bypass its self. (Medical record coding for the hospital i'll be having my surgery at in May.) It took me so long to decide it was absolutely what I needed to do. I know that I come out of anesthesia S-L-O-W…

My gastric bypass is scheduled for May 16th. I waffle, do I tell everyone, do I keep it to myself? I've told about everyone I'm having my hiatal hernia repaired (hopefully that'll stop the ridiculous reflux). I think, I'll tell everyone, but then I know certain people will make snide comments, and I just might tell the to…

I had my last nutrition class on Tuesday April 4th, and got a call on Friday afternoon April 7th that insurance approved surgery. And yesterday they called to schedule surgery, pre-op class. Surgery on May 16th. Pre-Op class on April 24th. They did say that insurance can take up to 30 days to approve.
