  • I'm so sorry!! That would be terrible!! Dumping Syndrome is AWFUL. I'd suggest when you do move onto puree again, that you AVOID all startches, bread, pasta, rice, oatmeal, anything carb. and avoid fatty foods. High carb and high fat tend to be what makes me dump. :( Good luck, and hang in there! ((hugs))
  • During the early weeks, follow the dietary instructions that you have been given by your surgeon/nutritionist. This is the most important part. Follow it to a T! Protein shakes, sip water, walk. walk. walk. do NOT advance your diet faster than your surgeon says to! Sip water. hydration is the most important part! If you…
  • physician office sent me this :)
  • That isnt bad at all! I know I can get the regular vitamins (centrum, etc) cheaper than bariatric vitamins, those end up costing so dang much!
  • OH MY GOODNESS... where has the time gone!!!! Depression, self loathing, shoulder pain has totally gotten me to be a lump again. I've had to give up TRX, due to pain in my shoulder, its difficult to do body weight exercises with severe pain. :( So, goal for July, 1. get myself to the gym. 2. meet with the trainer. 3. set…
  • Your main focus after surgery is getting adequate fluids. If you are meeting your fluids goal, then add in protein. you should be sipping all day long, set an alarm, to take a sip at least every 15 minutes.
  • @garber6th breakfast is VERY hard for me too!! @greenoranges67 Hope it helps!! And you got this!! For the first 18 months after surgery, I had a protein shake for breakfast, then I found out that my "acute liver injury" was due to the whey protein isolate shakes. So I am banned from protein powders now. (any and all) My…

  • I totally forgot that I was going to check in on Monday! I started a refocus this month Monday, logging my foods, and no snacking (or limited), and getting exercise back in. I did really well, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday... Yesterday, I lost control and had a "snack"... popcorn, peanut butter, 4 chips ahoy cookies, a…
  • Checking in! Home scale said 149, but surgeon's scale said 146! Back almost to my happy place at 145. Nutritionist, Exercise psychologist, and surgeon all happy with were I am. SO YAY! Now I'm just on a yearly follow-up schedule. Went shopping over the weekend, I can wear a size 2 in bottoms. :) small in dresses, and tops.…
  • Checking in.... SO, this weekend was BAD BAD BAD... but I did a LOT of walking. We had a couple friends over for the weekend (one lives three hours away from us in Iowa, the other -her BF- lives in England.) So we were taking them all around town, and drinking and eating like it didn't matter. I made a homemade cheesecake…
  • Joining in this month!! Stepped on the scale, I'm up to 151 as of Monday (aka weigh day), from my low of 142. (gag, how I've let myself do this!) I can blame it on my shoulder (tendinitis, so pain lots of the time), my liver issues (had a liver biopsy, found out I had acute liver injury, Liver Doc says from Protein Powder…
  • I use Probiotic Pearls. More for keeping my IBS under control. But, I know if I dont take them, i have more stomach issues.- This brand was recommended to me from my chiropractor. I get them at walmart. http://www.pearlsprobiotics.com/
  • Head Hunger is awful!!!!!!! I made myself a sticky note... "Drink Water. You are NOT hungry!!" afternoons seem to want to be snacky times. I just think i'm bored, and want to eat. I must not give in!!
  • I've been on both sides. I was a size 26 (313 lbs), now am a size 2 (142 lbs).... at 313 I couldn't fit into regular booths, and always asked for a table. now at 142, the booths I could fit in at 313, are uncomfortable for me now, as I am SO FAR AWAY from the table.
  • I'm currently on a strict no protein supplement 6 week span. I have (since 6 weeks post op) drank coffee/almond milk/scoop protein powder (whey protein isolate) every morning. (I'm 20 months post op now.) My liver enzymes keep going up! So, I went to a liver specialist, and she said that she sees this in healthy young…
  • The best person to help with this IMO would be @JamesAztec He is all about whole foods and listening to your body, and not doing any processed foods.
  • I do 50% protein, 30% fat, 20% carbs, that was what my nutritionist said to go with. :)
  • @NicoleL874 So sorry to hear about your mom. That really stinks. Happy to hear that she did come back after surgery. :) I'm 18 months out now, and trying to maintain. so freaking hard!!!! I was at 142, and am up to 146, no its not a lot. But I'm so scared that it'll continue to come on. So I am back to the gym more often,…
  • Hope you had a great Thanksgiving @HLaR79 ! Oh yes.... BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING!! Already planning my trip! :D It's so much fun!!!
  • 1. are you able to tolerate the fat content that is required by keto? Keto is high fat, moderate protein, low carb. 2. have you looked into the macros that you will need to do this? Are you going to be able to get in the protein that you need, that was instructed to you by your nutritionist/surgeon's office? 3. The RnY…
  • I got all excited! Then saw the protein is "whey protein (whey protein hydrolysate, soy lecithin)" :( I need my protein to be whey protein isolate. :( (per nutritionist) and I'm allergic to soy, that being the biggest I cannot have that factor.
  • @loveshoe You're welcome!! I need this too. :) I'm terrible about celebrating the small things. Moving the weights up, I should cheer, but instead, I think, well, it's "only" 20 pounds... but when I started it was 5! SO, woot!! Get those steps in! You'll feel better! :D :D Happy Day!
  • @JamesAztec thanks! It's one of the most recent pics :) I'll download iTunes and see if I can figure it out. :) I'm Android. :D
  • Gonna give a listen today! :D I dont have iTunes, so, not sure if I can review it?
  • Interesting... I know the surgeons at my Health System in Kansas City, (I work for and got my RNY done here) do the anastamosis at the jejunum, (except if the anatomy is altered already.)
  • Working on muscles & abs! :). Maybe abs will show thru my loose skin!! 😂
  • That is a great idea @fit_chickx !! I think I'll do that. :) Maybe my mind will catch up faster! :D
  • I've been weighing once a week... but the month of July, with all the trips on the weekends, I have been weighing myself a little more, since I am determined to not gain. It's hard!! Yesterday I weighed at 146, this morning 145... I'm sure part of the gain is from fluid retention, but dang it! I hear "you could gain a few…
  • @rll22 just sip... sip... sip. :) you need at least 65 ounces a day to stay hydrated... if you get dehydrated, it is SO dang hard to catch back up. It probably took me a few weeks to get the protein in... Congrats!! And you wont stretch your tummy so soon. :) (I'm 14 months post-op, and I forget sometimes, and go to chug…
