    1. are you able to tolerate the fat content that is required by keto? Keto is high fat, moderate protein, low carb.
    2. have you looked into the macros that you will need to do this? Are you going to be able to get in the protein that you need, that was instructed to you by your nutritionist/surgeon's office?
    3. The RnY diet, is typically high protein, low fat, low carb. Not because that's what we want, it's because post RnY, higher carb and fat make me sick.

I'm not trying to convince you to do Keto, or to not do Keto, just want to be sure you have thought of all the angles, and spoke with your nutritionist about this.

My macros I aim for are 50% protein, 30% fat, 20% carb.

Keto: 60-75% of calories from fat (or even more), 15-30% of calories from protein, and. 5-10% of calories from carbs.

If you look up bariketo on Facebook, there is a modified keto plan for WLS patients. I'm starting their "reset" this coming Sunday...

They follow a moderate fat, high protein, low carb.

bariatricketo.com they have several groups and all the links to their facebook groups are on their business page. I'm on Day Six of the reset, and have lost 3.5 lbs this week. A lot of people have lost a ton more, but my diet has been pretty structured and clean for weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. I didn't eat awfully, but clearly too much of something because I gained about 2 lbs that weekend (mostly water), so now I've lost that and about 1.5 more.

They are a business, so they do charge for their services and plans. All of their coaches have certifications of varying types in nutrition and health. When they do the 1:1 for you, they explain the plan and give you your exact macros. Again, it's geared specifically toward bariatric patients and they push healthy fats and limiting saturated fats.

    Good luck!

The key to keto is making your body burn its own fat for energy. I’ve successfully done keto (modified at lower fat levels) for almost four years now and I love it! It’s been the easiest way of eating I’ve ever attempted, and most satisfying too in my opinion. My experience has been that you just don’t get hungry between meals. Sometime so much that you can forget to eat which had never happened on any other diet I’d been on before!! It’s become my way of life since I’ve been in maintenance now for over two years.

I don’t miss any of the old junk I used to consider food since that wasn’t proper fuel for my body anyway. In 2014 I would have thought the person that said that was koo koo!! Now it’s coming out of me!! Lol!! Keto changes you in many ways!! It’s definitely worth a three month try full out to see if it works for you.
