  • My April goal was to lose 20 by our 2-week Italian dream family vacation (did that) and offset my vacation food opportunities with lots of walking. I gained 1 lb. during the trip and it's gone! So, new mini goals: - get back to jogging 2x a week and hitting 10k steps 6 days a week through April - Eating at a deficit 5x a…
  • My losses are slowing the past 2 weeks, but I am not surprised since I am at a weight where I lingered a few years. I hit my 20 lb loss this week (right in time for my 10 day Italy trip next week!) and when I return, I need to pick up where I left off the rest of April. Then, May it's ON again!
  • I used to be one of those people who, when I found a piece of clothing that worked somewhat for my frame, I bought 3 of them (several different colors). Now, I have to fight the urge to buy multiples. I used to buy quite a few of the same style because I felt it would be unlikely to find another piece of clothing I liked,…
  • Just every day...but I have broken my goals up around a dream trip we are taking with the kids to Italy for Spring Break. So everything is in a 'pre-Italy' or 'post-Italy' state.
  • This is me too ... plus I have to PLAN to be hungrier and eating more at night. So, I eat really filling low calories during the day and then, even adding 1/2 my calories back that my FitBit records...I have 600 or more calories to play with for evening. I don't use them all at dinner (knowing I will want a snack when the…
  • This is absolutely what I needed to see today. Thank you for posting!
  • The mentality of it all .... it's all normal. Until I came to these boards, I thought I was the only one who re-gained because I struggled to identify to a smaller size. That 3500 calories over each week is a heck of a lot of calories, so the fluctuations I see are not 'permanent' but attributable to other factors. It's…
  • Regarding the waste, I did want to point out that a many local nonprofits can reuse these items (meals on wheels, pet organizations, churches, etc.) I was surprised to find how many of these organizations are LOOKING for refuse from these groups. Just check around :-)
  • That what I do to 'earn' a treat is now much different. Prior to MFP, if I had a bad day, quiet time without kids or just felt like food, I felt I 'earned' it in some way and deserved it. Now, I have to add those calories back through exercise to 'earn' it - and I am a lot less likely to eat/drink them all in one swoop! I…
  • I also rely on MFP for food and FitBit for calorie burn. A big factor in this is because FitBit maintains my heart rate so I feel like it's more individualized
  • I can understand this mentality, but if you also look at the post following yours, you see that many of us have a pattern that includes a binge on the things we love when we cut them out completely. So, for me, I have had to play with what I drink. I *adore* the tastes of craft beer, but I rarely now drink more than one a…
  • Oh yeah - my choice when I want less calories than a craft beer but still wanna chill.
  • I'm a list maker. It's a fault lol. I have started a list on my iphone of all the positive things that have happened since starting MFP so if the scale isn't moving, I have something to reflect back on. I can't look at all the NSV threads when the "woe is me" feeling hits -- but I always have my phone. It contains how my…
  • I live in a huge craft beer community so that is my vice. I know I don't want to do without it totally, but I can say that I now allot for it. Yes, it's empty calories but I would rather drink a beer a few times a week then feel like I was giving something up...because it's just not practical for me.
  • I'm heading toward 45 and my blended family has three boys in the 8th, 7th (my bonus son) and 6th grades. And, it's been a real struggle to put myself in our mix of soccer, band, music lessons, games and other life appointments, but I have to continually remind myself how important it is. When I started this journey in…
  • I have a Fitbit Surge because I like the GPS & heartrate options. I link it directly to MFP and, while I am not tied to it, I try to be cognizant of eating back about half of the calories I 'earn'. Sometimes I eat more, sometimes I less. This method has made ME feel in control in that if I am hungry, I eat my calories…
  • This is just what I needed right now. Thank you and a massive congratulations.
  • Loss can always derail us, but getting back to it is where the strength comes in. You are on your way! Congrats!
  • I just hit 10% of body weight lost! And, only 2 lbs away from my 'mini goal' to be down 20 lbs before our dream trip to Italy in 4 weeks. I am really DOING this!!!!
  • Down close to 16 lbs in 12 weeks. I *so* struggle with losing weight that I have to work hard to celebrate each pound when it comes so thank you for this thread! Previous to finding MFP, 2-3 lbs a month was average.
  • Okay... over the past few days I've been really rethinking and re-evaluating what I think my goals should be. I want to focus less on numerical goals. I mean 191 is still doable so that can stay and so can 180. However, longer term I think I need to rethink my UGW. Originally I thought 150 but I don't think I want to have…
  • Short term goal is OBLITERATED thanks to a *swoosh*. I am at a BMI today of 29.4!!! Next mini goal is to get to weight of hubs and I's first date (4 lbs) and simultaneously hit the 20 lb. mark
  • I totally understand where you are coming from, and while it feels like you often have to 'check yourself' and where you are...you truly are in a good place. It's hard not to hurry everything (weight loss, working back up to our full fitness potential, etc.) but we must give ourselves time and space in order to making a…
  • It's little things ... like pants and/or sleeves getting longer, less of a 'suck in' to button britches, etc. But, those little things add up.
  • I feel like it takes more strength to 'get back to it' then starting the first time. Well done.
  • I have a fitbit surge and it automatically transfers caloric burn to MFP (which is how I chose MFP as a tool). I have a Surge which is a bigger model because it has GPS which is handy when I jog. I like that it tracks my calories burned not just by how many steps, but my heartrate. So, a 2 mile hike during lunch will burn…
  • Great milestone - congrats!
  • Same here. I am literally going to another building to use a restroom (1200 steps round trip and still only about 15 minutes). I'm in HR, so I also realized this was a huge way to see our employees face-to-face. I got asked more W2 questions on those walks than I ever did in my office!! Then, on my lunch break I take a 2…
