Would that really matter that much? She is burning more than she is eating just by being alive with no activity. She is only eating 1300 calories, she should definitely be losing weight. I think it is more like eating more than she thinks. Not weighing and or measuring her food accurately.

What about the children of smokers who don't have the choice? This is the epitome of selfishness, putting your children at risk. And yes, there are people who never smoke around their children, but there are plenty that do. In this day and age when the risks are know, and well documented, there simply is no excuse for even…

Seriously? There is no benefit to smoking. NONE. Plus you are putting others around you at risk because of your habit.

Well, seeing both my mother (@ age 67) and my oldest sister (@ age 54) both die from lung related issues, and both being normal weight (actually sister was underweight at time of death), I will opt for smoking being more hazardous to overall health. Meanwhile, none of my sisters or father (who are/were overweight) died…

Not a problem getting in steps. My fitbit reminds me to get up and move every hour between 9 & 4. A trip around the office is about 260 steps. My daily step count is always between 15K & 20K. Walking is pretty much a part of my daily life.

I have spent a lot of time in the Boundry Waters Canoe Area of Northeastern Minnesota, and have seen many, many black bears. They can be very big pests at campsites, especially if you do not tie your food in a tree at night. Although it is very common to hear wolves, I have never seen one in the BWCA, but they are…

I am all for letting nature take its course. I know they reintroduced wolves in Yellowstone years ago, taking them from Northern Minnesota, and it was a great success. If there are grizzlies already in the North Cascades, why not wait and see if they can repopulate themselves to sustainable numbers? Or would the natural…

No it doesn't, but the guidelines are there for how long the food should be kept, frozen or not. The Target clerks should have known better. Seriously inexcusable. I have brought things to their attention that are past the expiration date and had no problem exchanging them. Things past expiration date should be pulled off…

LOL, enterprising bunch huh? Trefoils are my favs and have been since I was a girl scout, except they called them Scot Teas back then, and they were a little bit different.
-
Seriously, a huge difference, and you look marvelous! Congratulations! Continued success!

Classic rock, late 60's to mid 70's before disco

They used to have Nestle white chocolate with almonds bells @ Christmas, and eggs @ Easter. So yummy! Also Mon Cheri's little chocolate treasures with a hazelnut inside (no crispies, not the Ferrero Rocher) I know you can still get them in Canada and Europe.

Calories are tracked here from everything. It all counts, and it adds up. It can definitely make a difference in whether or not you are losing. Weighing, measuring and logging all food and drinks will give you a true measure of exactly how may calories you are consuming.
-
I know for a fact people were counting calories 50 years ago. I did it. I had a little book with calories of common foods. Weight watchers has been around a long time. What has skyrocketed in the past 50 years is, the availability of food. Fast food stores, convenience stores with quick & fast foods, grocery stores etc,…

Park as far away from the door as you can. Get up every hour and walk around the office (for me it is 258 steps). Take the stairs if at all possible. Walk on breaks. They all add up over the day.

Avocado toast with sliced hard boiled egg.

If you stick to portion sizes, sour cream, cheese, guac, tortilla, but they give you more than 1 serving.

Oh dear, and here I thought it WAS working. I lost 21 pounds and have been doing this for 7 weeks. Am I doing it wrong?
-
Try sticking with grilled steak, chicken or maybe fish. Salad with dressing on the side.

^^This, and always this. CI<CO=weight loss; CI>CO=weight gain
-
This is such a clear, logical explanation, that no one should have trouble understanding the reality of CICO. Everyone that loses weight did so because they ate less calories than they were burning.
-
As so many others here tried to explain, weight loss is as simple as CICO. The rate of weight loss is a huge variable from person to person, depending on many other factors, but it all comes down to calories in vs calories out. The rate of loss is the variable for each individual.
-
It is really that simple. For weight loss, eat less calories than you burn. How you arrive there may be under a different name, but in the final analysis, it comes down to less CI, than CO. However, I don't think that most people think it is easy.

I always get chicken fajitas and avoid the tortillas.

I would say that it is not cheating. You are moving, and movement is more beneficial than just sitting. I have a fitbit Charge 2 and I get up every hour and walk around the office. It is a little over 250 steps each trip. My fit bit is programmed to buzz at me if I don't have 250 steps in by 10 minutes to each hour, and…

That is kind of humorous :) A pretzel rod has about 100mg of sodium and only about 45 calories. I have one for one of my snacks quite often.
-
Me too! Best dog we ever had. I miss him. Smart and handsome.
-
I have had a fitbit for four years. They are super accurate at stair climbing, as long as you do not stop while climbing the stairs, and go up 10 feet at least. When I first got my fitbit 4 years ago, I went up and down the stairs at home. We also live on 10 acres of steep, rolling hills. I know how many stair cases I get…

Sorry that your doctor could not give you some ideas to help, but you can get plenty of help here. There are plenty of us that feel exactly the same way, myself included, and constantly think about food. You can absolutely do this! I am by no means expert, but since I started here 1/1/17 I have lost 16 pounds and am better…
