I am 65. Have lost 33.5 pounds since 1/1/17. Age is a number. It is hard at any age.

I LOL'd too. I like them too. I have been a Stephen King fan from the very beginning. IMHO, "The Stand" is one of his very best, in fact, I think his very best work came out in the 70's & early 80's. Around the same time, McCammon's book, "Swan Song" was out too. Highly recommend this one too.

I read the Hunger Games trilogy before the movies came out. I think it is one of the best series in this genre. I liked it better than the Divergent series, but enjoyed this series as well. I really like most Jodi Piccoult. Saw "My Sister's Keeper" when the movie came out, after I read the book. I was kind of glad they…

Fiction, crime/thrillers mostly, but any genre of fiction. I need to escape from reality, so not much interest in non-fiction. I agree that seldom are movies better than the book. So much more detail in the written word. Right now I am reading "The Redeemer" by Jo Nesbo, Harry Hole series. I am kind of hooked on the…

To me it means a day going over my calorie limit for losing weight that will extend time on to getting to my goal weight. At this point, I try not to have cheat days, but life happens, so I move forward the next day and do better.

Good advice, but buy one with removable grill plates, you won't be sorry (like I am :/ ) Much easier for cleaning, otherwise I love mine, but the cleanup is a hassle.

I can certainly understand the mindset, and totally empathize with you. I have never been a big drinker, and now, since MFP, even less. I don't want to waste one calorie on beverages either alcohol or non. Water is pretty much it for me, with occasional diet pop. Substitute food for the liquor, and that is me. I get way…

It is a minimal amount you use as a moisturizer, and millions of people use moisturizers every day.
-
Extra virgin olive oil is a valid use as a moisturizer.

Cheesecake for me too. A little piece goes a long way, but I don't eat it very often anymore. So I have to say stir fry with a lot of veggies and chicken, no rice.

Nothing wrong with eating fruit. The USDA recommends 1-1/2 cups per day for women over 30. Cutting back on processed foods, which contain added sodium and sugar, and sugary beverages, may be beneficial. Personal choice as long as you are within your calorie budget for weight loss.

Happy scale. Really good app.

I have a standing desk, but it never even occurred to me as exercise. I assume you burn more calories standing than sitting, but I won't add it as exercise.

OP, as so many have said just try your best, without putting your health at risk. Try to remember, all brides are beautiful! You will be too! Enjoy this very special time in your life, congrats to you both!

Well I did say "some" people. I did not mean, or say, all people. It is a meaningless term to a lot of people. Even those of us that are not "well informed". And "healthy" is another term bounced around quite a bit here.

Exactly right, a buzzword, used to hook some people. But, then again, what does it mean to anyone. There are multiple topics here about it almost daily.

^ditto Chairless I think it is probably a good thing, at least for me. Until I started here, I probably have not felt real hunger in all of my adult life, and that is a very long time.

I started on 1/1/17 and am in a challenge on MFP to lose 40 pounds by the end of May. In 15 weeks, I have lost 31.5 pounds. There are a couple of other ladies that lost 30 in 14 weeks on the challenge. My goal is losing a total of 75 and then reassess, so as you can see, it is a pretty steep goal to lose in 12 weeks. Is…

Eat less calories than you burn. That's it.

What kinds of foods do they serve? Anything grilled would be a good choice with a salad with dressing on the side. Just try to pay attention to portion sizes. I often eat half and bring half home for lunch the next day. Any chance they have an online menu so you can choose ahead of time and budget for the calories?

T Well, she would know how to keep in the weight range for her profession. This is one of the things I really dislike about MFP. People knowing what is best for EVERYONE. 1200 is a general number for a very large number of women of all sizes, heights, weights and ages. There are a number of professions with people that are…

Believe it or not, there are people who are very small, my sister is one of them 5' 95 pounds. She eats under 1200 calories and is a lot healthier than I am. She is one of the people that eat to live, unlike me, who lives to eat. The OP is not advocating eating under 1200 calorie. She wrote a cook book and is offering…

If she is a jockey, she is probably teeny, tiny and knows what she is doing.

That's the way I have always taken it. Snowflakes are all different, no two exactly the same. As are people, no two exactly the same.
-
As so many have said, it is really a personal preference. I always go to the gym first thing in the morning, before I eat. I have a bottle of water with me. I eat when I get to work. It makes me nauseous when I exercise after eating.
-
Very well done! A picture is worth a thousand words, (inspirational) but would you be willing to post your story?

The numbers that I have heard are over 80% of the people that lose weight, gain it all (some gain even more back) within 5 years. Whatever it is, we can all strive to be in the minority and change those statistics! Try to focus on the plusses of losing weight and becoming healthier! We can all do this!

Yes, it really works. I am 65. Started 1/1/17. Have lost 29.5 pounds (weigh in tomorrow, hoping to hit 30). Logging everything I eat and drink, and being as accurate as possible, and moving more. You can absolutely do this!
