  • I dont look at mine now but I have low blood pressure and drink a lot of water (live in tropics). If it gets too low I start seeing stars so sometimes I deliberately add salt to my food. When I have monitored my intake previously its always been low, I don't add sauces etc to my food and growing up salt was 'bad' for you…
  • That’s sounds great, I would love to have an appointment to have to show up to. I guess a personal trainer fills that role for some people but the gym doesn’t fit into my lifestyle atm. It would be a bit of accountability. I was thinking yesterday I would love a weight losss coach who took measurements, was able to have a…
  • I do a combo, it’s nice to get that extra sleep in the morning sometimes. My evening activities are more group organised stuff. Runners club, volleyball so I don’t have much choice. Also limited in morning as I have to help get kids to school before I go to work so they are my walking/home gym sessions. But I am also…
  • My experience with drs and weight is limited. Very rarely has my weight even been raised, actually only when preg. I raised it at a Pap smear appt since that’s the only time I go without being sick. Got told to eat less and move more despite saying I ran and had issues with lack of full feeling hormone. Even the dr who…
  • I am the same its all or nothing. I was either exercising 6 days a week or not doing anything on a regular basis. Last year when I started running after 6 months off due to injury I promised myself that I would take a different approach. I initially ran once a week and then after a couple of months added in a second run.…
  • If your levels aren’t right it can also cause depression which may be why you’ve lost interest in working out. Exercise has become a habit for me, yes ocassionaly I can’t be arsed but after a year of going because my sister n dad also go and often I had to pick one of them up now I go even if they aren’t and if I do miss a…
  • Since you go to a gym can you afford to see a personal trainer for 1-2 sessions to set you a program? They can check form etc. Many people only see a trainer every x weeks to help with resetting programs, tracking measurements. Otherwise have another look at strong lifts, not too many exercises, video instructions for…
  • My fitbit often logs my weekly grocery shop as cycling which I can totally understand given I push a trolley around for an hour, but apparently a game of volleyball also appears to be cycling.
  • TBH sounds like you and your wife need to get on the same page, you mentioned they are your older daughters so I assume theres another kid or two younger than them so maybe your wife has her hands full. Not to sound mean but do you facilitate time for your wife to exercise if she wanted to, or even a hobby that she would…
  • Look up and see if theres a parkrun in your local area. Its a 5km timed run/walk each week. I used to follow my C25k instructions while doing the park run.
  • I hate chafing too. Vaseline/body glide on the problem spot is often recommended by people. Where I live its hot n humid so I havent tried.I have to deal with chafing when I want to run in shorts, prevention like spanx is good (I wear shorts with inbulit bike shorts for running). If I do get some rubbing usually just at…
  • I sustained a moderate sprain about 12 years ago, even now that ankles swells up more with exercise. In addition to the advice above consider a compression bandage (but look at who shouldn't wear one). It helps with swelling and blood flow which in turns help with faster healing. I got one for plantar fasciitis on the…
  • Your going to get conflicting advice here too. It really depends on the intensity of the sessions you do. Really intense exercise will prob require rest days after (think heavy lifting) some people manage this by doing different parts of body on dif days so they can still go each day others will do whole body and have a…
  • I work full time and have 3 kids so I can easily do 5 hours of cleaning on a Saturday above what I would do during the week. In particular as we have stairs and our laundry under the house I can rackup a lot of steps doing washing alone. I wear a fitbit so I dont have to gauge it but when I have looked at my data for me it…
  • Now I dont ride to work but a couple of people where I work do. So as a fellow co-worker- please dont hang your sweaty shirt in the bathroom to dry it sticks the whole place out. My other co-worker who regularly rides hangs her towel over and places her shoes next to her bike outside. She mustnt sweat as much as the bloke…
  • I was always told yawning was a way to get extra oxygen, is it possible that you are breathing quite shallowly while running?
  • I'd be surprised if your C25k doesn't have a follow on for a 10k app. I have 2 10k apps on my phone atm both have a c25k and a 1/2 marathon app as well.
  • I’ve had the numb foot on the elliptical as well and I think maybe when my planta facitias first started to rear its head. I would suggest when you have a chance getting your gait and shoes looked at.
  • I do too. I lost 12kg previously while unmedicated. I put those 12kgs plus 3kg back on while going through the process of finding the right medication dose because I gave up watching my calories in.
  • I love the fact your wearing the same tights for comparison. Great job on the weight loss!
  • I've taken to doing push ups on the window ledge on my bathroom breaks, I do a lot of running and walking but struggle to be motivated to fit in strength sessions so I figured every little bit helps.
  • Well quite often a baby follows a wedding which often throws a spanner in the works.
  • I doubt you have much weight to lose without your BMI being too low but since you haven’t stayed your height it’s just s guess. With this in mind you prob need to look at nutrition (in particular protein) and an exercise program to get your BF% down.
  • Great job! I would only compare you running against yourself, how much you have improved over time. One goal could be to be able to run the whole 1.3miles or you can work on increasing distance in the same amount of time. Maybe look at a structured program for running if thats what you want to get into. C25K is really…
  • https://yurielkaim.com/squat-vs-lunge/ "Both the lunge and the squat activate the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes at different stages of their movement. However, even though forward lunges activate more of the quads than the glutes and hamstrings, other lunge variations – which you’ll see below – effectively target both…
  • Chafing of the chest tends to be a male thing due to most women wearing sports bras when running which minimizes the rubbing that causes chafing. Dont do anything out of the ordinary foodwise- I see you ran 8.6km without food or water if its hot you may want to use one or two water stations at least but dont try vary your…
  • Personally my gall bladder or now lack thereof had nothing to do with weight, my gall bladder issues also seemed to be hereditary triggered by preg hormones. Not sure if that's why I dont have any issues with any food/fat etc commonly experienced by others. I lost weight after the surgery due to changes in diet as advised…
  • The answer is really going to vary from person to person depending on why they have orthotics in the first place. Personally I only end up wearing my orthotics in my runners. When my foot is sore I wear my runners more and avoid barefeeet (Plantar fascias is my issue) I also wear shoes with arch support because wear I live…
  • It looks like a recovery run plus its actually only 2 mins less of running so you are likely to cover more distance in the 24mins (excluded warm up time). If I do a hilly run I find my next run is always way slower as my body takes longer to recover from the hills as compared to a flat run.
  • I too try to exercise as it shortens my cycle. But I can suffer from fatigue the first day particularly as I usually get a surge of energy the day before and sometimes over do it as often I'll use the surge to clean the house for hours on end. A walk on those days helps. Surprisingly my cycles have been a lot less painful…
