  • I joined at the beginning of the year as I wanted to lose a bit of weight in time for my 47th birthday in April. Started slowly and followed MFPs recommendations on calorie goals to lose a pound a week. Weighed and logged everything and started a strength regime from Darebee. Pleased to say I hit my weight target 3 weeks…
  • Fair city of York here :-)
  • Personally - and only because this is how I did it - I'd continue the deficit to strip off the last of the fat. Also carry on with resistance training but don't expect to see huge gains yet. Obviously everyone is different but I think your original question was similar to mine back in January. I lost slower than you and…
  • That's exactly the term I used when i first started upping my water intake. It does sort itself out though, eventually (I drank 4 litres yesterday which is about 4 times what I used to drink!)
  • Can I just say, take it slowly. I hit target recently from being 500cals (1600 a day) in deficit and wanted to ensure I didn't just slam my progress into reverse. I added 100 cals (1700) back onto daily target for a week (lost a pound). Following week I added another 100 cals (1800) - lost another pound. Am now on 300 cals…
  • Hi, I think you can only turn it off with a Premium Account. Just squint when you look at the totals and you won't be able to see it :-)
  • Hi Ricsur. I'm similar age to you (46) and hit a stall/plateau a few weeks back. Nothing had changed and was still logging and doing same exercise. I worked out that I'd lost enough weight that my original 500 cal deficit needed adjusting. Knocked 100 cals off and that pound a week dropped off again until I hit goal (and a…
  • Check out Darebee.com. Specifically 30 Days of Strength Program (bodyweight at home) and IronBorn - using dumbells. They really work! Good luck.
  • Using MFP goals I lost a pound every week consistently. When I hit a plateau I lowered my calorie intake by an extra hundred and started losing again. Good luck.
  • Cardio in the morning, weights in the evening - (before main meal). Try it and see how it works, everyone is different but it's working for me. (Just make sure you also get a rest day a week).
  • I did 40% Protein, 30% Carbs and 30% fats (500 cal daily deficit) for 2 months and lost a pound a week, every week. Combined with cardio and resistance training I lost the weight without starving myself and put on a bit of muscle. My advice though (after a shock early on) is to definitely weigh your pasta/rice/cous cous…
  • Hi, and welcome. How about taking measurements as well as weighing. You'll find your numbers might go up on the scales sometimes but the tape measure will go down. Combine the two by weighing and measuring once a week (morning, without clothes etc.) and log it in MFP or on a spreadsheet. You'll be able to see your progress…

  • Me too - I always feel i should do something on 'rest' days, stretching at the very least. However, I just finished a 30 Day Strength challenge from Darebee and hit my target weight a few days early. So, as I knew I was starting a much heavier schedule, and I'm coming up to 47, I decided to take FOUR DAYS off to give…
  • Hit the final notch on my belt yesterday. (Also, I can take my suit trousers off without undoing the button - is that a skill I can put on my resume?!) I was 37" waist last August - 31.5" now.
  • I hit goal weight 2 weeks ago after a 500 cal daily deficit for a couple of months. I'm now doing a DareBee strength training program so decided to up it by 200 cals a day. (Like you though, I was worried I'd undo my good work). However, even though I've cut down on cardio and went OVER the 200 extra on quite a few days,…
  • Fat Gripz for weights (I know, I'm slow on the uptake) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fat-Gripz-Ultimate-Arm-Builder/dp/B005FIS14Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488973021&sr=8-2&keywords=gym+fat+grips
  • Me too - 12b Stone. For me I think it was because I mistakenly thought that was my ideal weight. I could get to it, maintain it for a while but then it crept back up. I've recently smashed through 'the wall' using calorie deficit, logging and a target weight/photo/date combo and I'm now 11stone 5lbs. 12 stone no longer…
  • I seem to have gone all 80s recently (must have been cos original Footloose was on TV at the weekend). This playlist gets me through a bit of cardio after a long day at work > https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_G9ryxFh7xsPwI7wiWFyyjJgIXAdWHq2
  • 1 pound a week is easily doable :-) Olay Regenerist Night Cream? And lots of sleep. You look awesome anyway so... Best of luck
  • Cool, nice one. Good luck for the next 40! (Not that you'll need luck)

  • If you've got Amazon Prime (or can do a 30 day trial) they've got loads of HIIT/Cardio/Workout videos you can watch as part of your membership. Good luck with potty training - we've put 3 boys through it and come out fairly unscathed!
  • 47 in April. Happy to add.
  • Probiotic yoghurt once a day sorted the constipation thing out for me - weight is now coming off at the rate of around 2-3lbs per month. Not stressing as I know I only have about 6lbs left to go so bound to be hard (scraping the barrel I call it). Good luck. Don't stress, your body doesn't like that!
  • Up circa 5:30AM, coffee, workout at home so 30 mins cardio/HIIT then get school lunches, breakfasts etc. ready. Go to work, home by 5:15PM and, if it's a strength day, do another 30-45mins before main meal. I love rest days :-)
  • Tape measure - best £3 I've ever spent. If the scales move in the wrong direction, I check my measurements! Good luck - keep going!
  • York here. (Bloomin' cold!)
  • At the risk of getting crucified.... I was the same when i started tracking. Was fine right up until main evening meal but, 2 hours later, got peckish - every night. Couldn't find anything i liked that sated me so... I skipped breakfast. (I don't have a physical job so wasn't getting hungry until around 11AM - quick snack,…
