I started at 300 lbs. It took about 56 lbs before anyone apart from my husband noticed. Now that I've lost over 6 stone it is very, very noticeable.

I'd be worried that your partner is going to be given a really hard sell about paying for Thrive once her freebies run out. Isn't it a MLM scheme?

You really need to speak to your medical team. I am very surprised at the advice that they have given you so far

I've eaten a Big Mac twice this year (as opposed to almost weekly) and each time loved it, and had enough exercise calories to include it. If I wanted a salad I wouldn't go to McDonald's. But blimey it doesn't half taste of sugar of fat!

Very sorry to hear that your brother's cat died. Cheering you on here too, from London

I started this year weighing more than you do. I've lost over 60 lbs, so still a way to go. I include as much walking as I can - I get up half an earlier during the week to fit in a walk as part of my commute. You can do this but you need to be in the right mindset. Youve had some good advice on here. Good luck!

Eek. If I were a patient I would far rather the nurse looking after me had eaten well earlier in the day than was part way through what really amounts to a crash diet!

That's really interesting. I've lost just over 60 lbs in the past 9 months and only 3 people have said anything to me about it. However I was morbidly obese and am still obese, so perhaps it's not so noticeable

That's really useful, thanks. I've just recalculated and my calories have lowered by 20!

Like others have said one day at a time. I started this year weighing over 300 lbs. I have lost just over 60. I know I have so much more to lose to be healthy. I set mini goals. I set MFP to maintenance if I am eating out or celebrating for that day. My target loss is currently 1 lb per week because that is achievable for…

I know how you feel. Have been having attacks since January. Have had gallstones diagnosed and have to wait until September to see consultant (NHS). I've had 7 attacks in 14 days. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or drink. The only thing that makes a definite difference is if I skip a meal I am likely to have an…

I started off by weighing quite a bit more than you, although I am a little taller. Ive aimed to lose 1 1/2 lbs a week, which currently gives me 1560 calories a day, I now weigh around 260 lbs, so not that different to you. I would love to lose weight more quickly but for me this has to be a change for life, so I am taking…

I could have written your post a few months ago. I was just over 300 lbs. I have lost 40 lbs since New Year, so still very near the start of my new healthier life choices journey. Things that have helped me - take it one day, one meal even at a time. No food is off limits - but if I carry on eating one bag of crisps a day…

This is amazing, well done. I am in my early 50s and also have a lot of weight to lose. You have shown me that it can be done!
