  • I like quinoa as well, but I also love whole grain brown rice. Similar macros. I agree with some above, quinoa is really good cold to me, I prefer rice in hot dishes.
  • I'm a huge caffeine drinker too, mainly coffee. I have a Starbucks on my college campus that I frequent, and I also love Dunkin' Donuts. Yes, ordering a latte or macchiato from either of these places is calorie heavy, but I found an alternative. Note that I prefer iced coffee over hot all year round. I make my own cold…
  • I try to think of things I really want to be able to do again, or do without difficulty, or remember that I don't want to live with the fear of being the "fat friend" or that I'll always be single because people don't find me attractive, or I want to be able to do active things with my active friends and not be counted out…
  • I don't like dealing with points, it never felt sustainable and always felt like a diet. I deal with real numbers here. Calories, macros, etc. it feels real, and like a lifestyle change, and I agree with above: way more support and understanding here.
  • Hey! I started training January 1st, my goal is to get to a 5K and then 10k. Hated running, did track and cross country for years, quit and gained a ton of weight. Rediscovering my love for running. Add me if you want!
  • Why are you even buying food for them? I have roommates too but we all buy our own food and only share communal condiments or milk/eggs.
  • I am one pound away from a big goal of mine - 20 pounds down (many more to go) I plan to treat myself to some nice, new fitness clothing that makes me feel sexy, powerful, and continues to encourage me to work up to my goal of running 5k's competitively again. Cheers, all! These answers are great.
  • Needed this today, thank you!
  • Holy moly how unhealthy. Please don't do this, it's not the way to live a healthy lifestyle.
  • Will do! Still learning over here. I'll be easier and more accepting on myself going forward.
  • Yeah I can't say that any of the things you listed in your second paragraph are true in my case. I've tried to be honest about everything here! I weigh myself consistently on a scale that automatically syncs with MFP and my Fitbit. I haven't been sick at all in five weeks, definitely not pregnant or a mother, I have both…
  • Hi! I use a Fitbit Charge HR which measures my heart rate as I exercise. Fitbit also takes into account your stats when deciding calorie burn. I find this to be more accurate than the traditional pedometer, but I'm still wary of big numbers. I tend not to eat most of my exercise calories back.
  • I used to do crossfit all the time, and I got the same results. All I can say is consistent stretching, plenty of water, try a foam roller, and ibuprofen. Also, just my two cents, I don't buy into crossfit. Other exercises can get you the same results without the fatigue.
  • Hi! I do take a multivitamin, I try to keep up on protein but definitely something I need to work at. I use a Fitbit HR to measure calories lost. I'm sure that can still measure high, this is part of the reason why I tend not to eat back exercise calories.
  • Thank you for the input! I thought about the same but didn't want to be playing a mental game telling myself to eat more when it isn't necessary. Off to have a healthy snack I go!
  • Here's my fav based on foods I buy at the grocery store: 2 slices whole wheat toast (80 cals) 2 wedges, spreadable light Swiss cheese (50 caps) Spread the cheese on your toast, and pair with your favorite fruit (I tend to choose grapes or apples)
  • I think you might've misunderstood my intentions with this post. I am absolutely not making excuses for myself, and if you read the whole thing you'll notice that I said no to the junk food and opted for a salad despite peer pressure. I was just venting about a difficultly of college and that it was a tough choice. I'm…
  • I have been a food hoarder, secret eater since I was very young. My mom always talked to me about it, coincidentally she also has her own problems with weight loss and self image. I grew up with an unhealthy view of food, and I went through high school and college grossly overeating with friends or when I wasn't around my…
  • I have been around the block the products like Shakeology. Listen, it's not bad, but I got sick of it. They're great if you need an "on the go" breakfast, and when I started, I hated breakfast and always felt I didn't have time for it. Now, I have breakfasts that I enjoy eating a lot more and I feel really set me up for my…
  • I'll add! My story is a bit different but definitely a woman on the go. I am a college student, full time, but also with a full time job that takes me off campus for work travel fairly often. Keeping up my job, classes, social life, healthy living just seemed impossible but I am working through it.
  • I have done a similar thing this week. I haven't even necessarily gone over that terribly, but I have eaten into exercise calories which I NEVER do. I've been tracking and exercising again for about five weeks, am down 15 pounds, and this week the scale hasn't budged and I feel like I am overeating and thinking about food…
  • I buy a 35 calorie per tablespoon non dairy flavored creamer from aldi. Often I find I don't even use the full tablespoon in my 16 oz of iced coffee.
  • Thank you all so much for the advice!! I'll try to look around for in person classes as well
  • Your campus has a nutritionist??? Geez, I went to the wrong school! A fellow college senior here, just grab one on amazon or get a tape measure to measure inches. I agree with the above, if your campus has a nutritionist, they probably have a locker room with a scale.
  • I used seven minute back in the fall when I was super busy but wanted to get something in everyday. I usually did two reps. It was good, I think in practicality it would pair well with some good cardio for a rounded out workout if you didn't have access to weights. I wouldn't worry a ton about logging those specific…
  • I've used it in overnight oats, but I primarily use it for smoothies and protein shakes. I find that using skim milk tastes better in the recipes I use. Hope this helps!
  • This is my strategy. I intentionally leave enough calories for a snack or two, and I log everything.
  • I lived in Italy for four months! I actually lost weight while I was there. Take my advice, just walk everywhere and you'll be fine. The largest city is Rome (where I lived) and for the most part you can walk to every major tourist attraction. The other cities are smaller and you can walk everywhere once in the city…
  • I log my exercise but so far I haven't eaten any of my exercise calories. It's just something I like to keep track of, and I find it rewarding to log it and see how I've done. I work hard not to eat those "bonus" calories. I have separate fitness goals to meet that don't include eating extra calories in my day.
  • Have you every tried PBFit? Look it up! It's pretty good.
