  • Lifting will absolutely help you reduce fat. Muscle burns fat, even at rest. And every time you lift weights, you're causing muscle damage which requires calories and nutrients to repair. Plus, building muscle creates more shape and definition, and changes your body composition.
  • You're welcome!! And I'm not sure what sort of lifting schedule you're following, but remember to give each muscle group at least a day of recovery in between. I like to do upper and lower on alternating days. Doing full-body routines every day will hurt your body! :)
  • Also, make sure you are eating enough. 1350 doesn't sound like enough if you are 5'8 and lifting weights. I used to do the same thing (although I'm 5'4 and I was eating about 1200) and I would either just get bigger or stay the same.   • Yep. I vow not to get on the scale when I know it's coming because it only frustrates me lol. That doesn't mean I give myself a free pass to fall off the wagon; I still try my best to stick to my fitness plans while I wait for it to be over, though cravings can make that more difficult.
