This one is pretty damn good if you like lentils. It's got 19 g Protein and about the same in fiber. You can adjust the heat to taste. http://www.kitchentreaty.com/crock-pot-pumpkin-red-lentil-chili/#recipe

I agree with the posters above regarding post workout stretching. If you're not opposed to supplements, try adding a BCAA powder to some water and take afterwards. I used to get very sore after heavy workouts and this has virtually eliminated the issue.

Could be a potassium deficiency. I've had cramping problems in the past during heavy cardio workouts You may try eating a banana 20 to 30 minutes preworkout and/or adding an intraworkout supplement to your water. I use Muscle Tech's Amino Build which works for me, but I'm sure you can use another equivalent product.

I will second sgt 1372's approach. I'm 55 and following a similar macro nutrition approach and seeing great results with a mix of strength training (3 days/wk), cardio (2-3/wk), and yoga. Keep up the great work and attitude!

Legs and Back P90X
-
I've started it before, but also never completed it due to an injury. Upon reflection, I think it was perhaps the reduced warm up time for my 50+ year old body. I've since completed P90X Classic a couple of times with great results, and am now doing a hybrid p90x plus program. Keep us posted on your progress. I may revisit…

No reason to wait to eat. I know that after weight training the general recommendation is to eat something with appx. 50/50 protein/carbs within about 2 hours post workout to help with recovery and muscle repair. BCAAs also help post workout.

Egg beaters Plain nonfat Greek yogurt Coffee Ezekiel 7 grain sprouted bread Almond or Soy Milk

I I love my coffee black and bitter. I have a Ninja coffee maker and use two "scoops" of dark Italian roast to make a pot. My favorite is Pete's when on sale

You may want to consider yoga. A lot of movements using body weight, core work, and improves flexibility. Equipment needed = none
-
I used one for about a year. Had great results. I just found that I enjoy pushing and pulling weights on bars, yoga and other cardio routines better. The best equipment and workouts for you are the ones you enjoy and will use.

My last post on this topic: I actually took Biochemistry 101 and came up with the experiment on my own (used brain calories to do it), no internet involved. And how many calories would you use pushing pedals that won't move?
-
Also untrue. The cost of energy production even for the same individual can vary widely. Aerobic vs anaerobic catabolism produces atp (the chemical entity your muscles use for energy) at different energy costs. It's biochemistry 101. Believe what want, though I noticed you didn't answer the question about the "broken bike"…
-
There is at least one proven way to spot reduce fat. LIPOSUCTION
-
It actually only measures the amount of work applied to th bike. It does not measure the the energy cost (calories) used to produce that work. So if you attach two different engines with significantly different efficiencies to the bike and have them pedal the bike the same distance at the same "speed," the work done will…

Sorry, but I don't think it's quite that simple on running versus walking. Running a mile also takes less time. And your pace will also impact total calories burned. What about if one person runs (jumps from foot to foot) and jumps twice as high per stride than another runner/jumper? Don't you have to account for working…

Way to go!!!

I've been practicing yoga now for about 6 years on and off and just started taking classes twice a week for about 8 weeks now. I wish I had started out taking classes, so cudos for you being so much wiser than I was! The comments by paychgrrl are spot on! Yoga is much more about your intention and the journey of bringing…

Thanks all!

I absolutely agree! If you look great to yourself, are healthy and strong, why would a number on the scale matter at all?
-
No special an routines (though I do ab P90X -Ripper X as add on to weight lifting 3 times/wk). Yoga 2 times a week has really helped my lower back strength and eliminated the chronic back pain I've had in the past.

Protein shake and a banana
-
Thanks! I'll have to try them both before buying. I have a wide foot, so have to select on a case by case basis.
-
Anyone have the Rebok Men's Crossfit Nano 6.0 Cross-trainers?
-
TY. I've had chronic lower back issues on and off over the past several years (I'm 55) until I started incorporating yoga into my workout schedule. It really does wonders for core strength, flexibility and general body awareness.
-
I'm going to P90 X it up with Yoga X.
-
Nope. Many of the calories burned calculated for exercise other than aerobic workouts (1/2 to 2/3s of mine are weight training and yoga) are over estimated, so I don't eat them back usually and have had much better weight loss success. I will occasionally eat a snack or eat more than my meal calories and go over, but I…

I hear ya! I just turned 55 this month. I'm currently on a higher protein nutrition plan. A lot of people will undoubtedly "poo poo" this, but it works for me. I currently eat appx. 45% to 50% Protein, 25 to 30% Carbs (minimizing refined sugar and starch in favor of complex carbs from whole grains, vegetables and some…

I'm currently on my 2nd round of P90X. I'm doing a hybrid P90X plus program and substitute/add Yoga and other cardio in at times. I just use a HRM (Scosche Rhythm+ Heart Rate Monitor Armband) synced to my UA Record App to record my workouts and estimate my calories burned. Yes. I know that it is not super accurate for…

Without much additional information, like your current weight, your target weight, etc. it's difficult to offer any suggestions. However, You may want to slightly reduce your daily caloric intake to see if that moves the dial. How much have you lost in the last 60 days with your current nutrition and workout plan?
