Hurting like hell (especially in your joints) is your body's way of telling you to stop. You may be doing some serious damage. And yes you can do more damage. I would definitely ask your doctor about running and stick with lower impact exercises, until you lose enough weight so there is no joint pain. Take it from someone…

I would definitely find another Dr. Did she even ask you what your overall fitness goals are?

I don't think age has anything to do with what types of workouts you do. It all has to do with your fitness level. I'm 55, 5'6" tall (or is that 5'6" short. LOL) and have lost about 30 lbs and gained a sh!tload of strength and flexibility in about 10 months. mostly with P90x and Yoga. Mind you, I modified a lot of the P90x…

Please keep us posted. I've been thinking of doing Strong Lifts as my next strength training program.

I love P90X and Yoga. P90X because it's a great combination of strength and cardio an Tony Horton gives a lot of alternative variations for many of the movements. Yoga because of the huge benefits to core strength, flexibility and practice in connecting mind, body and breath which carries over into everything else I do.

Most Yoga instructors will give you your first class free. Here is an app (free) that will locate yoga classes near you. Make sure that if you decide to take a studio class that you try different instructors as they all have their own unique styles of instruction and also you may want to do a little research into the…

You may want to consider Yoga.

I do P90x which is uses a mix of weights (dumbbells), body weight, with cardio and Plyo. And Yoga twice a week. Depends on your goals. Mine is to lose weight, increase cardiovascular health, improve functional strength and develop a well balanced overall muscular physique. P90X is definitely moving me in that direction.

Age really has nothing to do with the program you try. It's more about what you enjoy and your fitness level. I'm 55 and have been doing P90X from BB which is an awesome total fitness program. You can sign up for BB live for a free trial and if you find a program(s) you like stay with them and pay. If you only find one…

If you can get to under 20 min it's a good time. The world record for 50 yr masters bracket is 14:52.92 minutes.

Yes. Three of the essential amino acids, valine, leucine and isoleucine, are BCAA's. That said, you can get them through a healthy diet and do not have to use supplements. I do find that a BCAA supplement reduces post workout muscle soreness during my heavy weight training days.

If you download the UA Record App it has an option for workout video under "class". It also syncs with MFP and will log the workouts into MFP automatically. There are also strength training and various cardio logging options depending on the type of workout you do using dvd's. It has options for popular DVDs as well, such…

For yoga I recommend finding a beginners or basic yoga class. Check out the app called "Mind Body". It has a Class location function based on your zip code. It will also pull Up Pilates classes A good yoga teacher will help you with the practice based on YOUR fitness and ability level. If you happen to select one that…

The UA Record app has many more choices for logging and will link with MFP.

You may want to supplement with Plyo training and incorporating intervals and/stairs. This will really improve your strength during running.

Welcome!!! What are your current goals?

I'm 55 and never used my age to choose my fitness plan. Figure out what your goals are and find a program or develop a plan that will get you there. What are your goals? That will give folks here a little more info and they may be able to help you out.
