With so many people needing to get healthier or recovering from injury or surgery, some may have limitations. I was wondering how to track this form of exercise . It seems very limited when the choices for recording are regarding gym type of exercise , reps, cardio, high impact etc. I would have thought there might be a list of various forms of exercise that were trackable here. I'm not the greatest with such limitations. Am I not doing/ tracking in the right section here kinda feeling overwhelmed and a bit lost. Wondering if someone could offer a suggestion as to where I could be tracking different forms of exercise, walking, hiking, biking, swimming, yoga ?? Needing so much to excel holding myself accountable to myself !! Thank you for any suggestions or directions in advance

The UA Record app has many more choices for logging and will link with MFP.

Walking and swimming are certainly in the database under cardio, I presume the others are too, but I could be wrong.

Either we will probably be misunderstanding what you are asking for - or you haven't explored very well what you can log on MFP.
Pretty sure you need to click on Cardio, and search for something.

As far as tracking the land movement stuff - Map My Fitness will take care of tracking walking & biking type stuff.

Swimming, heh - not recommended to bring smart phone into pool - just count your laps for distance and use that.

Yoga is such a variable thing - some are more stretchy oriented, some are strength, some a combo.
So what is being done for calorie burn could be all over the place, and your effort at doing it can't really be measured like distance on walking, running or biking to quantify it.

Just log as Yoga since it's likely not a majority of your calorie burn anyway.

I've logged both swimming and yoga/pilates on here without an issue. Just search the database. I have noticed sometimes they are listed oddly - sit ups and crunches for example have to start with abdominal or the search won't find them in the app...seemed weird but they are in there. It is a lot easier on the website than the app to search for exercises.

So the first thing is: what do you want to get out of tracking this stuff?

Do you just want the calories to appear when you're done? Add it as cardio. Do you want to keep a record that you went swimming yesterday and for a bike ride today? If so, MFP is really terrible at that. This has to be the worst fitness log on the internet. Because that's not what it's for. There are lots of apps like Strava and Map My Anything, or even Garmin Connect, which will keep a record of all the exercise you do, give you a calendar for motivation (you'll start noticing the gaps, and they'll taunt you), and even the ability to compare one record against the other so you can see if you're improving your fitness over time.

Swimming and yoga will fall under the cardio section. Under the exercise diary, Cardiovascular section, simply click add exercise and then search. For swimming, it breaks it down by stroke used and time swam.
