I always count mine when the full rep is complete.. so depending on the lift it can either be the up or down.

This is what I did before having lasiks. Of course, it probably helped that I was pretty young when I started. I was a competitive swimmer/diver and lifeguard, who literally lived at the pool. I hated running around the pool blind or worrying about my glasses getting broken, so I just taught myself not to open my eyes…

Expensive isn't the point. Lasting quality is. I've had $15 shirts from JC Penny's tailored to fit (spent about $15 per shirt cause I took several in at once and got a discount). So for $30 a piece I had some great button down shirts I loved wearing that lasted me for a good three years. Of course, cost of tailoring is…

At my office, we have a standing desk that has been attached to a treadmill. LOL

I don't have "one" that I do more often, rather, I enjoy mixing it up. Right now, I'm doing lap swimming, water aerobics and Zumba I'd consider them pretty damn successful based on the goals I had when I started. Swimming was a solid cardio workout that didn't make my joints hurt, came with a good calorie burn and actually…

Basically, you're letting your hips come out from underneath in order to use the momentum to finish the hard part of the lift. This in turn is causing you lower back to do most of the lifting instead of your glutes and hamstrings. One trick I was taught to fix this is the pinch a penny method. Basically, when you start you…

When I design my own workouts, I try to pick lifts based on body parts to ensure that I get a good total body routine built for each week. Most workouts/ sites would break it down to chest, back (sometimes split into upper back, mid back), shoulders, Triceps, biceps for upper body. Glutes, Quads, hamstrings, calves for…

No, it's not to reduce the risk of complications, rather it's an actual requirement by design. The smaller stomach pouch is designed to only allow the person to eat a very tiny amount (2 ounce protien shake or 2 grapes for example). This is why the surgery is so successful at weightloss. If the patient eats more then the…

Truth be told.. the only solution I ever found that really worked was to by the larger shirt and have it tailored to fit the front (wide shoulders, big biceps, small boobs). I also preferred blouses made from rayon as even the big size seems to hang well on my frame. Another option that worked well was to wear a nice cami…

I used to win a LOT of suckers bets that way too! More beer money!!

This supposes that the only reason to lose weight is because one is unhappy or that one is only unhappy due to the extra weight. For me, I got fat because I focused on my happy feelings instead of the scale. The scale keeps me honest and grounded. Sure.. it makes me happy when it goes down. It also makes me a little…

Probably not much. In one month.. I lost 4lbs, lost 1.5 inches off my waist, an inch off my hips.. and still the same size just not as tight. After two months.. I lost a total of 9lbs, 2 inches off my waist, 1 inch off my hips and still the same size. Now after 3 months.. I've lost 13lbs and I'm finally seeing clothes that…

I measure success on everything really. Lose a pound? SUCCESS!!! Lose an inch? SUCCESS!! Go down a clothing size? SUCCESS!!! Wake up this morning feeling great about myself? HUGE SUCCESS!!! Walking a mile easily without hurting? SUCCESS!!! Walking 5 miles easily without hurting? Still SUCCESS!! My top priority? That keeps…

Every good sports trainer and physical therapist has told me variety is the spice of life, especially when it comes to training programs. So, I'm with the mix it up crowd. I do a mix of swimming, lifting, aerobics classes and Yoga.

Add me as well. Happy to add new friends

This. Accordingly, I shouldn't be able to lose weight on the diet I'm currently following and yet it's working great for me!

For me, at least... this was always part of the conversation that is missing more often then not. I didn't need anyone to tell me I gained weight, I already know that. I don't need someone trying to give me some ultimatum. I need a helpful partner who is going to work WITH me to make the needed changes in my life. When I…

I'm 44, currently 218 (sw of 235)... aiming for a goal weight of about 150. chest 43, waist 39, hips 45 Calorie intake is between 1800-2000 cals a day. Workouts were 3 days lap swim (45mins), 2 days aerobics/zumba (50 mins) and walking on my rest days (1hr +). Though I just switched things up a bit to get back into the…

This time around... I stopped looking at it like I was on a "diet" and started seeing it as a lifetime journey. THere is no giving up and there is no falling off the wagon. If I have a weekend where I over indulge and the scale shoots up, I chalk it up to a learning experience and get back to work.

This. Too be honest, I'm not that concerned because you state that you actually feel a bit better AND it's not a consistent 6-7 days a week, every week. But if you are still concerned, rather then talk to a trainer who will have NO clue and NO training in dealing with your medical issues... I would talk with your Doctor.…

I'm a bit of both. My breakfasts are more static, generally eating the same thing with a couple alternatives when I get tired of it. My dinners tho.. I have a planned out 6 week menu, for 6 weeks no two meals are the same. But it does repeat every 6 weeks. My lunches are smaller versions of my dinners with a salad mixed in.

Down 17lbs and eat back about half each day... sometimes more if I'm hungry

Let see... I've been a SAHM, a working mom, a single mom and now a work at home mom. Each one had their benefits and their challenges, but that list changed with each phase. But I also managed to lose weight in each one. As a SAHM, getting workouts was actually easy for me. I used to put my son to sleep after supper by…

I second this advice and there is research out there that actually supports this. Body positivity starts by gaining an overall healthy self image. Find activities that she enjoys and she feels confident in doing. Even if it's not athletic type activities, encouraging her to engage in activities that make her feel good…

I'm 5' 6" and weight 220. I've been losing weight eating approximately 1800-2000 cals a day. Macros split out to about 35% protien, 35% carbs and 30% fat. My workouts are 2 1hr full body lifting workouts, 3-4 days swimming 45min, and 2 days of 50 min aerobics class. I've been losing a steady 1lb per week for a couple…

I've lost 16 lbs in 3 months from swimming 4 days a week, 45 mins each session. Of course I'm also eating at a calorie deficit

Based on your age height and weight, your BMR is already at 2300. That's what your body needs before the job or workouts or anything else. At a minimum, I'd raise your calorie intake to at least that, though I think getting closer to 2500 would be the best place to start. Add in the boxing/wanting to get stronger, I would…

I eat red meat at least twice a week. Down 16lbs so far.

Actually.. how many calories burned during Yoga does depend on which style you are using. For a 150lb person, 1 hr of each type burns... Hatha Yoga: 189 calories. Hatha yoga is an umbrella term for what Westerners consider yoga. In truth, Hatha yoga is the actual physical practice of yoga postures, plain and simple. This…
