My most recent one revolves around this collage from the photo booth at the Turkey Trot this year. I particpate in the Sub 30 running group on Facebook. I posted my results to them and talked about how I'd like to earn an age group medal one day. Another member of the group told me some average medal times she has seen for…

Thanks - my time was 28:36 - and I got 7th place in my age group. Maybe one day I'll be fast enough to medal.

The closest I've come to it is that two ladies have told me I have pretty eyes. One was the employee at my eye doctor's office who was helping me pick out my new glasses earlier this year. The other one was one of the trainers at the gym I go to - she even said I have "super pretty eyes." Other than that, I also have to…

This collage is from the photo booth at the Turkey Trot I ran in. As my shirt indicates, I am part of the Sub 30 running group on Facebook. I posted my results to them. I never expected to get the compliment I did. Another member of the group was telling me about the average medal times for different age groups in 5Ks. She…

I have been on my weight loss/fitness journey for 11 years now. This collage represents the ups and downs of the journey: Upper left pic (pardon the snake shirt) - pre-weight loss - somewhere between 1999 and 2007 - my heaviest weight was 237 lbs. Top right - Feb 2008 after I had completed my initial weight loss of 59 lbs…

I feel like I managed to look mischievous and up to no good without even intending to!! 😃

I am living proof that diet is important. The before picture is from November of last year when I was going to the gym, but my diet was absolutely terrible. I weighed at least 190 lbs in that picture. I began a strict Keto diet in January and kept it going until mid-March. I still keep the carbs low and eat good things. In…

Before pic - November 21, 2017 when I was at least 190 lbs -- After pic - Today - I am at 165 Sorry I couldn't find a better before pic. Let this show you how important a good diet is. I was going to the gym back in November, as I still do, but my diet was just plain awful. I was following a pretty strict Keto diet from…

On Monday evening, I accomplished something I've been trying to do for over two years. I finally ran 3.1 miles in under 30 minutes. I completed it with 45 seconds to spare. I'm not even upset that it happened at a social run rather than in a big race. In fact, I think the fact that it was a social run (a little over 200…

Picture with shirt is April 2014 when I weighed 212 lbs or so. In the other pics, both from this week, I weigh 165 lbs.

Today, I once again saw the trainer I've known for several years. Just like last time, she complimented how lean I looked. I told her that I've been thinking of going and getting a scan to really find out my body fat percentage. She pinched a couple of skinfolds, and gave me a prediction that blew my mind! She predicted…

Monday afternoon, one of the trainers at the gym I go to, (whom I've known for several years and who has seen the ups and downs of my weight loss/fitness journey) told me I am looking good and looking lean. Given her expertise and familiarity with my journey, that was a great compliment!

I competed in my favorite local 5K this weekend, and though I didn't PR, I beat my time from last year, so that was a win. My time was 33.55.6. They also have a strength competition there every year, and I decided to compete in that as well. It was 5 events, 2 minutes per event, with a one minute break between each event.…

I started this year at 190 lbs, and a BMI of 27 - I've been on a low-carb/keto diet all year, and now down to 172 and a healthy BMI of just under 25! This weekend I enjoyed running in my favorite 5K and also taking part in the strength competition held at the site, which, as you can see, included a tire flip. I had never…

I went in for a haircut this morning and my friend who cuts my hair was blown away by the results of the keto diet I have been on since the start of the year. I got to tell her all about the foods I eat, and how the diet is working very well for me even though I have limited time for exercise these days. I wont get into…

Today I decided that I'm going to stop trying to be Superman at the gym. A couple of weeks ago, I had finished a one hour Stairmaster workout (burning 700+ calories) one day when one of the older regulars told me plainly "you overdid it." Today I saw him for the first time since then, and told him that I had cut it back to…

Decided on something a little bit different today.

Being able to buy some size 32 x 30 jeans today when I'd been stuck at 34x30 for a good while!! Not that 34x30 was anything to sneeze at, mind you.
-
This is pretty much what an hour on the Stairmaster will do to you, so please forgive me for not smiling in this one! But, I will cheer up if I find out I can wear a smaller jean size than I have been - I'm about to go check on that!
-
I'm having a good day so far, hope everyone else is as well.

I had open heart surgery at the age of 10 - they cut out some tissue that caused my heart to beat fast at times due to the tissue being an extra electrical pathway.

Earlier today when I had just finished burning 720 calories on the Stairmaster

As one who grew up in Houston and went to many, many games at the Astrodome, I couldn't be happier or prouder today!!
