Left picture is from January of this year, right is current. My abs may not be quite so defined right now, but it's a price I gladly pay for the muscle I have gained.

Two things today - 1. In the past month, I have added about 7 or 8 lbs of muscle 2. My 46th Birthday was in June - as part of the celebration, some friends bought me a cake from a grocery store. Because I did not want to seem ungrateful, I took the leftovers home - and I figured out the best way to deal with them - I did…

The month of June was a great month for me. The bodyweight training and also getting my nutrition together have been the best things I could have done for myself. It's amazing the difference good nutrition makes in the gym. And oh yeah, I turned 46 in June. Have a great month of July everyone.

I'm happy that I keep making progress on the pull-ups. Today I was able to do a few close grip ones. I can't help thinking it won't be long before I can do a wide grip pull-up.
-
Thanks - I started them today upon your advice. I think I got about five good ones.

Simply and stunningly beautiful!

Thank you so much!

Thanks for the great comment. As for the farmer's tan, the sad thing is that I live in Texas and yet the farmer's tan is pretty much a year round thing for me.

Enjoying my rest day today after a great day at the gym yesterday. I can tell I am making progress in strength little by little. Yesterday, I was able to pull myself up just a bit during my dead hangs. Still nowhere near the bar, but I'm going to get there!

Having the courage and confidence to wear this shirt to the gym today!

In one of the NSV forums in Success Stories, I wrote about the good feeling of shirts that fit a little tighter in the right places, and this is one of them. I think you can tell how happy I am about it.

Thank you!

Screenshot from video I took as I was doing hanging leg raises.

3 reps of 30 second dead hang and 25 neutral grip assisted pull-ups today!

A few NSVs in one here, all resulting from my starting bodyweight training for upper body strength over the past week or so. 1. The picture - my arms definitely needed some muscle on them, although there is always room for more. 2. The satisfying feeling of shirts that are a bit tighter in the arms, chest and back for a…

Even though I am still so far away from my first strict pull up, I have enjoyed my first week of bodyweight only training. I'm going to stay with it for at least a month to work on upper body strength in general. I am pleased, very pleased with my results this far. My arms definitely needed some meat on them, and there's…

Getting ready for a Monday upper body workout working toward my first pull up. So dead hangs, chin ups, and hanging leg raises

Hi everyone - it has been a while since I have been on MFP - so this is my first post in the new selfie thread. I know it's not the best pic, but I wanted to get one posted so I could join in the fun!

Since my weight loss and fitness journey now spans 12 years, here is a collage of highs and lows along the way. Top row: Left pic represents me before losing any weight (2007 or earlier - highest weight 237 lbs.) Right pic is after I lost 60 lbs in 2007 - pic is from Jan. 2008 when I met Kae and B from season 4 of The…

No, I don't.

I'm on day 25 of a challenge I gave myself to do at least 💯 ab reps per day for 31 days. I have no idea why I didn't start on January 1st, but the main thing is that it's getting done!
