I've gained 30lbs while on Lexapro 30mg daily for a year. I've since tapered off and learned how to accurately track the food I ate. I've lost the weight, but figured with this site's help, that it likely still comes down to the calories of the food you eat. That was a few years ago. I've been on Paxil without any crazy…

I thought I was the only one who got so bummed out by this change! I used these a LOT and now I won't be buying the new ones. I think instead I bought Arnold's pita pockets, it's 100 cals for a pocket (which is half a pita).

^ What she said. Also...you don't have to go to the gym to get some exercise in. You can do 15-30 minutes exercising to free YouTube videos or walk outside. Hiking, swimming are also good.

Vegetarian for the past 8 years (been vegan for 3 of those before, not now).

Now this is dedication! You look happy!

I'm 28, restarted cutting 22 days ago. Did this for the first time a year ago and lost 25lbs in 4mos. I'm vegetarian and I log daily (with food scale), as well as do cardio and weightlifting 2-4x a week. My weaknesses are chocolates, cookies, and cakes!

Adidas tank top. Super comfy and got it at a great price!

Generally, I'd eat what I want. I don't eat foods that I don't like or that aren't tasty to me. Luckily, I love all sorts of veggies, whole grains, beans. Some sweets that I've gained weight with, I stopped buying, because I wouldn't get satisfied with the tiny portion size that I could fit into my 1200 calories and it…

When I became vegetarian and then vegan, I just used my favorite dishes and veganized them (if they even needed that). I grew up eating potatoes and meat - so I'd boil/mash/fry potatoes and have them with a veg burger patty or sausage. Soups are easy, use packaged stock or easily make your own by boiling an onion, some…

- Oatmeal. Boil in a bit of water on the stove for a few minutes. You can add banana & flax seeds, or fresh/frozen berries, vanilla, cinnamon, a pinch of cloves or cardamom or ginger, can mix it with a smoothie, or eat it with jam or even plain with a bit of honey/maple syrup. - Wholegrain cereal with almond milk. Almond…

Watch for the calories in nuts, seeds, and cheese, you'll be surprised! Definitely don't eat those if you can't weigh them on a kitchen gram scale. When I want to snack on some, I weigh 1oz of pumpkin seeds and dry roast them on a frying pan for 1-2 minutes while mixing with a spoon. It's tasty and I can usually fit that…

I use MFP and it's very easy and convenient, since I already track calories here. I record weight, hips, and 3 measurements of waist (belly button level, 2" above it, and 2" below). I weigh in at the same time weekly (Monday mornings before eating/drinking and after going to the bathroom; weigh in without clothing) and…

It took me to lose 25lbs in 4 months, when I've set my calorie limits to 2lbs/week. There were weeks where I felt nothing had changed, but it did. Keep in mind also that measuring various body parts with tape helps a lot. Sometimes for me the scale wouldn't move, but I lost inches. Whatever it is, keep logging, keep…

Yay on going vegan! If you have a Barnes & Noble around you, they have so many cookbooks on sale. I don't have any particular ones to recommend as I like a recipe from here and there. Allrecipes is a great website, where you can find Vegan things to cook. I think MFP here also has a Vegan group that you can join. If you…

Orange Tic Tac, Halo ice cream, hot cocoa (unsweetened and with almond milk), earl gray tea (also with almond milk), or roasting my own pumpkin seeds help me with my sweet tooth and still being in a deficit.

I drink as much tea and water as I can and also have soups or smoothies (easy to fit energy and nutrient dense foods into these).

I have the same problem. Mindfulness has helped a great deal! Notice your craving, ask yourself if you're really hungry (...what are the real hunger cues that you have? Stomach grumbling? Feeling weak? etc) or just bored or upset, think if you'll truly feel better if you eat now, weigh in pros and cons. Substituting…

It's astounding how much soda some people drink! Where I come from, you'd have a glass of Sprite to celebrate the holidays. Anyways, it's tea/water/kombucha for me. I don't add sweeteners to my beverages, instead I make up for that with my chocolate and cake obsession. Kombucha can actually be a good soda substitute, since…

I've had the bloating issue almost daily since my 25lb weight gain at 26yo. My environment was stressful and I chose sweets and large restaurant meals (tacos usually) to cope with it all. I'd never have weight or bloating issues before. Also, I was taking an antidepressant at that time. I've had several tests at GI and the…

Yes, it TOTALLY gets easier. It's all about making it a habit. Also, junk food cravings is something I have experienced very strongly and felt quite depressed when I started, but for me personally they went away after a couple of weeks. First week is always the hardest. Your body is used to unhealthy food aka insulin…

Since I've been losing weight (at the end of January), I've started to pay attention to low-fat dairy. I like low-fat or fat-free milk, Greek yogurt, farmer's cheese. These are WAY lower in calories than fuller fat counterparts and allow me to save those calories for snacks or eating out 1x per week. I don't mind the taste…

You can convert most regular online recipes to vegan, just substitute dairy for non-dairy (soy, cashew, almond milk products), meat for soy/wheat products, eggs for banana/flax/etc. I'd turn to Youtube for starters.

Thank you, everyone, for sharing your insights! I appreciate it a lot. I live with a heart arrhythmia (benign, multiple doctors stated I can do any exercise), which often makes it difficult to stick to those rest periods (i.e. I like to take longer ones). For example, I like to do Fitness Blender online bodyweight…

I'm from Russia, but have been living in NYC for a while.

Definitely cutting down on sweets (mainly chocolate and cakes) + not eating until I'm literally stuffed. It's always a rollercoaster for me as my moods (boredom, depression) can influence how I eat. Also fluctuations on the scale suck a lot.

Hi! I'm vegetarian for 7 years. I've been strict vegan for 3 of those years in the beginning. I was pretty hardcore, I have a lot of vegan theory and cooking books, etc. still. :)

Crisis counselor. I don't work overnight (though some of my colleagues do), but rather early night - I finish at midnight. Plus, I have another PT job, which I do before this one.
