Or......for stovetop method, bring water to boil, add rolled oats/oatmeal, cover and remove from heat. Let sit for 10ish minutes. No need to watch and means that I can go do something else while the oatmeal is 'finishing'.

Hot flashes and night sweats for about 6 years. Weight gain, but if I'm honest, I can't attribute it to menopause. Had to admit that when I finally started tracking/logging all of my food (and beverage) intake. Just finally got past that when I had a total hysterectomy, including ovaries, in June of this year. Round 2 of…

December 22 is my 60th birthday - really, really, really hope to be at goal weight by then. 6 lbs to go but those lbs are really hanging on!

@Toxtethogrady, yes you CAN keep at it! :) Over the past few months while on this weight loss journey, the stall has happened to me a few times in spite of doing everything right. Others on this site have reminded me that the process is typically not linear and to keep at it! I weigh myself daily and have learned that the…

My Saucony Razors footwear. The pair I have are from a few years back - stocked up when they were discontinued. Noticed that they now have the Razor Ice line and those look very interesting :s

I lost 65 lbs around 17 years ago through Weight Watchers. Then, I got sloppy with my food and beverage choices. Still was very active but 'they' are correct when they say you can't out-exercise a crappy diet. Fifteen years of having a glass or two of wine, telling myself 'it's just another 5 lbs', or 'I ran 10k today so I…

I've also used Map My Run for many years - for both running and cycling. Had a problem with it a couple of times but was able to solve that by restarting my phone, so do a restart regularly now.

How much easier and more enjoyable running would be now that I'm carting around ~45 few pounds! Now I look forward to my runs - at my heaviest, I still ran but really had to convince myself to do it.

Agree with this. Sometimes it isn't love at 'first try'. ;) Took me a while to love running. When I first started, it was simply because I wanted to say I could do it. Then I began to love it and now it is never boring for me. I listen to podcasts but also vary my run every time: different neighbourhoods, different trails,…

Definitely - actually, I would say it re-awakened my fashion sense. Overweight, I would wear whatever would fit. Now, definitely enjoy styling - fashionable clothing, accessories, makeup, hair, the whole bit!

Definitely doable. My stats are similar - I am 59, turning 60 in December and retiring in January. Started seriously with MFP in January 2017 at 206.8 lbs, now at 162 +- with a goal of 156. I track everything, log religiously and am pretty active. It's been a slow and steady process and hope to reach goal by the end of the…

Congratulations and welcome to MFP! Not sure what your planned changes are, but from my personal perspective, changes are possible whatever the age. I will be 60 in December and have lost just over 40 pounds since January 2017. Happy Thanksgiving as well!

@Realtree2429 This is just amazing - for your daughter, for you & for your entire family - in so many different ways, that it brings tears to my eyes.

Seriously? A health care worker actually said that to a patient? Unbelievable!!! Good for you for your reaction!

Well it seems that 40 lbs is the magic number. Have really not had anyone comment on my weight loss until today - and 4 different people told me 'I'd lost a lot of weight!' LOL! It also was a closet-purge day. Switching from summer to fall wardrobe was a good opportunity to go through everything. Turns out I did not have…
