  • Your post here did a lightbulb thing for me. About water consumption. Many people here on MFP are quick and I do mean quick to say there is no such thing as a water guide for drinking water while working on losing weight. They just drink water for thirst, and check the color of their urine. And as long as remains a light…

  • Most important thing, is to find a way to eat that you know you can sustain for the long haul. Me, I went to low carb being a Type 2 Diabetic was my reason. I admit I have a big sweet tooth, so I learned to bake with alternate flours and alternate sugars. It has saved me from falling off the wagon. But I totally 100% agree…

  • Are you weighing everything you eat? If not you may want to consider buying a food scale. Fact is everyone has a tendency to under estimate calories they are actually eating in a day. We should be counting all the sauces, like oils, salad dressing, oil for cooking as well as meats, vegetables, breads, and so on we eat.…
  • Looking at your pictures I can see a few differences. Big weight difference in first picture on left, from the one on far right. You say fit difference, but literally there is weight that no longer can be seen. Also in your arm/hand. A type of picture that I do not share but actually has proven to me, of the changed weight…
  • You have every right to be proud of yourself. You look amazing, and doing all of that with young children. Outstanding job.
  • Sorry about that, I answered wrong. Actually there is a way to get rid of it. This is going to sound odd. I have a number of cats, therefore lots of cat litter always in my house. One of my cats had been sick, then the Vet changed her medication. I asked the Vet what/where I could dispose of the other liquid medication.…
  • Maybe it is different where you are. But I am here in Florida in the USA. I use two different types of Insulin Pens daily. And they do not expire that quickly. I know that people who use vials have said that they must use the vials in a certain amount of time. Example: I use Lantus daily in the evening is the long actiing…
  • Did your Dr. refer you to a dietician or send you to Diabetes education classes? And give you or suggest a set amount of calories per day? Reason I ask is what you eat, how much, snacks etc often are in direct relationship to what your calorie, carb, protein, fat numbers you are told they should be. There are recipes here,…
  • There is a lower Carb Forum group, that has a number of posts, and some activity that covers much of what you are asking. There are lots of people on MFP using low carb and or keto. Just not always lots of information on the main message boards.
  • Number one reason Health far and away. I am a type 2 diabetic for 20 years. My labs mostly look great. But the dirty secret is once you get Kidney Disease as a result of Diabetes there is no going back to normal. All you can do, is get with the program, and work to keep it from getting any worse. So now I exercise for an…
  • No and no. Think about it, it is not the sugar alone that makes cookies, ice cream and other sweets so enticing. It is Sugar and his/her good friends Fat, and white flour, or hey could be wheat flour as well. Sugar is not an addiction, it is a cop out for people to say that. Should some people eats lots less sugar.…
  • Hi, I am a T2D as well. And I can 100% vouch that increased exercise will bring those numbers down. It may or may not mean you can get off the medication though as your Dr. will take many different blood test results into consideration. I lost 24 lbs between September and end of November this year. But really stepped up my…
  • I so totally live in the glass house right down the street from you. You have the so RIGHT attitude, wish you well on your restart on the journey. Just think you took a short side road/detour for a bit, and are now back on the main road we all travel. What works for you food wise, deficit wise, and exercise wise is yours.…
  • Well consider switching to diet soda if you drink regular soda that will save carbs from the sugar. And even for tortilla's there are some that are lower carb, that taste pretty good. Even for breads, there are lots of choices of different grains. Even pasta these days. Lots to choose from without going full low carb. And…
  • I am in. This will dovetail right in with my other challenge I do monthly. Staying under carb goal of 55 per day, I normally bank a few for weekend Logging every day, Measuring all foods Exercising 6 days a week, 45 minutes minimum. Weigh in once a week, on Saturdays Stay away from real deal Holiday sweets, convert to…

  • I got my blood test results back, I am a type 2 diabetic for 20 plus years now. Still working on lowering the A1C, so more work to do there. But my Diabetes Dr. was blown away by my Triglycerides number 101 and my grand total for Cholesterol was 97. In her words, wow the exercise is really paying off.
  • Lots of good ideas here, I am going to try out. Not sure why/what changed on MFP but since September 2019 countless times while entering ingredients for new recipes at about the 7th item, it literally kicks me out. So has become more and more annoying. So now I have lots of new ones to try. Will any of them export…
  • Are you reading a different post? Or maybe did not read the entire post? OP states she has the diet part under control and is losing weight. What she specifically was asking questions around had to do with exercising and what she might do, to look better and could it be done in a month. Op was not asking anyone to suggest…
  • I remember in 2018 when I worked to get my blood sugar under control, before my issues in 2019. So in May 2018 I started at 11.7 or somewhere in that area, by end of July it was down to 8.2, by Oct it was down more to 7.1, and by December 2018 I had it at 6.1. Then this year, two rounds of cortisone shots, big issue with…
  • Yes it could. Cannot remember where I read this, actually I think one of my Dr's told me, if I had a carb day where say I about doubled my carbs. I try to hit 50, but say I hit 98 one day. Then next day, went back to hitting 50 again. It could take up to 7 days to get my numbers back to where they were prior to my carb…
  • I think there is a fine line that is getting lost in all of this. Because I see it over and over again. I am a type 2 diabetic, we all can agree this is a chronic medical condition. So I will call it a health condition. I read above some people have PCOS, others IR, and some other ones as well. These are health conditions.…

  • Original starting weight -May 2018 305 Starting weight came back Sept 2019 250.6 November starting weight - 238 November goal - lose 5 lbs 233 Ultimate goal - 195, and then decide the next step. Thinking 168 2nd - 237 9th- 238.2 Ack this is the wrong way. Up 1.2 pounds. Decreased exercising, and both foot and forearm…
  • I just this week read an interesting article about the difference between Bing Eating and Overeating. And it really struck home for me. Because I have had so many people tell me they are one and the same. And they are not. Overeat you do not feel overwhelming guilt for. Binge eating equals shame, guilt, depression, out of…
  • Sigh, this was the year, ordered a fake one. Had a real one as a kid, had a real one for first 34 years of marriage. Just the two of us now, and we folded. Read an interesting article on the artifical trees, more people than not, will get one that reminds them of the type of tree they liked best as children. Meaning, Pine,…
  • I was just reading in the newspaper today that for some reason this year there has been a high resurgence of RSV disease in the USA. It does not happen every year, but it has happened this year. And where I live here in Central Florida it is hitting hard. And that was before the Thanksgiving break. So they were putting out…
  • I really like the baked cheese bites, Decided they get a bit pricey. So now do my own. Hard cheese work great. Put on a silcone mat, on a baking pan, in little piles, with spices. Bake at 425 for anywhere from 7 to 15 minutes. They make great snacks. I just bag up when cool So they are grab and go. Servings of cut veges in…
