  • I keep reading *kitten* and am too clueless to understand what it means.
  • Nutritional yeast. Easily absorbed, inexpensive, great vegan source of B vitamins. If you don't like the taste it can be hidden in a lot of foods.
  • I like a ripe banana with nut butter and a bit of cinnamon. If I'm really hungry I'll add some raisins. For some reason oatmeal doesn't fill me up
  • Yikes. I'm opposite. I started drinking regularly after changing my eating habits. I find a shot of scotch on the rocks in the evening kills my appetite and helps me sleep better. At least I can stop after one.
  • Have battled hip arthritis for years and I know how painful and debilitating it can become. It's best to seek professional advice before beginning an exercise program because this issue can't be cured (unless you're getting replacement) and performing the wrong routines can make things worse very quickly. I am not…
  • I don't care what it does or doesn't do, first, last or in between. You'll get my Scotch when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.
  • Have been running for decades. Not until early 50's did I begin encountering injuries. Invested in a sports therapist who taught me strength exercises as well as the value of cross training. It was hard to accept that I am slowing down and can no longer tolerate distances beyond 7-9 miles but every day I can run is a gift.
  • Believe it or not, for me it seems like the job. If I work (I am part time), by mid morning I'm zapped. If I'm home, I have energy. I call it office fatigue.
  • When I started this journey oreo's were still made with lard. Happy to see so many people embracing plant based diets. So many vegan choices in restaurants and markets these days. And finally my grocery store has started organizing shelfs with placards so I don't have to read every label. I make a lot of my own food - nut…
  • Sorry and to answer your question, if the heel support has been compromised and you are already suffering blisters from the issue I don't think I would even attempt to cover it up.
  • I was fitted for an expensive pair of Newtons and the tread detached across the left toe area in less than 25 miles. The retailer replaced them. Happened again in about 25 miles. Neither company or retailer had ever seen or heard of that particular issue (or so they said). I chalked it up to my weird gait (I do suffer from…
  • I believe my diary is open but it's pretty boring. My family says I eat the same things everyday and that's pretty accurate. sometimes I select things to include in my diary that are 'close' to what I ate but not a 100% reflective of what I've eaten - I need to spend some time creating custom items. With the exception of a…
  • Oh the miracle of salt. With high blood pressure and arthritis which flares if I over indulge, I do try to limit. Salt is a spice that simply enhances a food's flavor without changing it. Please do use salt in the actual preparation of your food, it will be absorbed (like adding salt to boiling water when cooking pasta)…
  • Started off exactly as you are describing 10 years ago and now suffer from full blown osteoarthritis. Please do not self diagnose unless you are truly unable to obtain a professional opinion. I wish I would have seen a PT who would have shown me exercises to strengthen my core and stabilize my 'bad' side. Pretty screwed up…
  • I am a vegan and have high cholesterol. My doctor told me only a very small percentage of a persons cholesterol is derived from the animal products in their diet
  • When I started my office job in the '70's, finding time to exercise was not such a big deal to most people like me. Days in the office back then were filled with carrying heavy binders, going to and from filing cabinets and carrying folders and other paperwork, lugging around large volumes of mail, and getting out of your…
  • I am suggesting we take a more holistic approach to the problems instead of just targeting the insurance dynamic. There's plenty of other places to search for improvements besides the individual consumer
  • Why is the emphasis on individual life style changes when other valid questions remain unaddressed. Why, for example is a hospital allowed to charge $100 for a Tylenol and $75 for a box of tissues? The reason health care facilities do not 'post' their fee schedule (as has been suggesting many times) is because the…
  • I am a vegan. healthy weight, and I exercise regularly. In fact at 56 I can hold an 8 minute mile in a half marathon. I do not eat processed food or refined sugar. Still I suffer from hypertension and high cholesterol. It is tempting to draw conclusions by simply observing others and their behavior. There was a time before…
  • I didn't follow the 10% rule and was sidelined with an Achilles tear for months. I now follow the rule. Good luck.
  • I use old bicycle tubes and they're a lot more difficult than any band I've ever bought. You don't need a gym to get great results.
  • There's nothing wrong with running in the rain if you can do it safely and don't run for a long time in wet shoes or socks. I've gotten some pretty nasty blisters from wet socks so I am a bit more cautious.
  • I use mine for a benchmark and progress tracker-in other words I don't wear it every day. Maybe once a month to validate eating and fitness goals are being met.
  • Quit smoking. You can do it. There are plenty of tools to help. If one fails try another. Do not give up.
