I also agree with everyone. I know a lot of people who have been successful and continue with Keto, but they also love most of the low carb foods. If you don't and find yourself constantly craving carbs, I would recommend just doing regular calorie counting without food restrictions. I was one of those people that just…

Aside from what other people have mentioned, I suggest talking to your doctor. Not a trainer, and not a nutritionist. A physician. They can rule out any possible medical conditions that might be contributing to your lack of progress. Though my very unscientific opinion is that "eyeballing a serving" is where you're going…

Hey guys! I am thinking of doing Beachbody on Demand, and was curious what your very first Beachbody workout was? I think I might start with 21 Day Fix or something like that since it's for beginners, then work my way up from there. Any suggestions? I really want to do the Transform 20 when it's available to everyone, but…

I am given 1,250 a day for losing 2 lbs a week, and I try to eat about half my exercise calories. Most days I'm around 1400-1500. At the very least, my weekly calories even out.

8. After 17 years of marriage and then a divorce 2 years ago, I’m enjoying the break.

I have long, high maintenance hair (naturally curly, so it requires a lot of time-wasting nonsense). I definitely would be the same and skip a workout if I just got my hair done, BUT most days I just let it sweat and say screw it. Dry shampoo and sweat bands are my best friends these days.

Since I started 2 months ago, I have noticed the same trend with my weight. I weigh daily. I will be exactly the same weight (when checking at the same time each morning) for at least 5-6 days out of the week, then by day 7 or 8, the scale drops 1-2 lbs. Every week this happens. It's super odd and sometimes annoying, but I…

Just playing off this. I have been on doxy for a little over a week, and have noticed not only bloating, but some wicked headaches. They make me want to exercise less because I feel like crap, so if I wasn't tracking my food but suddenly working out way less, I could see how weight gain would be possible. But it's just…

I don't even understand why some doctors approve it. I had a family member on that stupid 500 calorie a day thing (supervised by a doctor), and I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Yeah, she lost weight fast. But then she gains it back, then does it again, gains it back, rinse and repeat. It boggles the mind.

If she is now living with you permanently, you can't really expect her to never have food in the house that she wants to eat. Just like she can't expect you to eat her sweets whenever she brings them in the house. It is one thing if she is constantly pushing them on you and making you feel like you HAVE to eat them, but if…

I have heard this term a few times, but honestly never knew what it meant. So is it basically just eating at maintenance for a day?

I won't be able to give a better explanation as far as how it is calculated, but this is how I like to look at it: MFP calculates your calories before you do any type of exercise. Other weight loss apps calculate your calories with expected or assumed exercise, so the calories are always higher on other apps than on MFP.…

In the last 2 months, I had one "cheat day" (not going to call it a binge because they are VERY different mentally), and this is basically what happened: I felt like crap. I got really bloated and it took days for the bloating to go down. The next day, the scale went up by 1 lb, then it took almost a week for the scale to…

It's definitely all about what works for you as an individual. I am the complete opposite. If i skip breakfast, I am basically fighting a binge all day. But you learn this stuff through trial and error. We all reach our deficits in different ways.
-
I think you should do whatever you feel is necessary for your own mental health. My (unprofessional) opinion is that your relationship with food goes far beyond the issue with calorie counting, but if you feel that MFP is a catalyst, I definitely support taking a break from it. I hope you are able to seek help from a…

My goal is 135 right now, but I'll see how I feel at 150 and go from there. I was in the 120s before I gained all my weight, but was a bit thin for my frame. I think the 130s or 140s is probably better.
-
I think it depends a lot on where you started and how much you have to lose. Also where the fat tends to come off first. But for me, 20-30 lbs seems to be the magic number.
-
You can eat your calories at any time of the day. I don't think meal timing makes a bit of difference, as long as you're in a deficit.
-
Yes! Just log your food here and ditch WW. When I was on it, I barely ate 1,000 calories a day, was sick, fatigued, and obviously starving. I was an example of someone who didn't eat enough free foods, but a lot of people eat too many of them. It's a terrible system. Here you don't have to second guess because you count…

For me personally, I have found the opposite to be true. A diet soda in the afternoon keeps me from all those afternoon sugar cravings.

Good point. I am over 100 lbs overweight, and it has me at 1,250 calories to lose 2 lbs a week (I eat a little more since I eat half my exercise calories). I can't imagine eating even less. I'm miserable just thinking about it. For the OP - I think we have all been there. Restricted too much because "we felt fine", but it…

When I was in high school, I was right on the border between average and underweight for my height. At the time, I thought I ate sooo badly and was lazy, but if I look back, I wasn't at all. I went to the gym a few days a week, I was in dance, I worked a part time job, I went out with friends more often than I stayed at…

I would just follow the traditional post-bariatric diet. It seems pretty close to low carb anyway, since the one I am familiar with is high protein, low sugar (my sister had surgery almost 2 years ago). Her foods ends up being lower on carbs, with the exception of fruit. What did your doctor and nutritionist recommend? I…

You could try looking through Paleo recipes instead. I have been doing that lately (not for low carb, but for gluten/dairy free) and quite a few of them are low carb. When they have carbs, it's just rice, potatoes, or vegetables, so you could easily leave that out or replace it with cauliflower rice or something like that.…

Unless there is a medical reason you need to cut back on sugar, I would just enjoy the fruit! Plus, berries are among the fruits with the lowest amount of sugar anyway.
-
Yes, but you might find other reasons to exercise. Like I enjoy having extra calories to eat from exercise. Cardio helps with the anxiety and depression, and pretty much any exercise help a lot with my mood and energy. Definitely don't need it just to lose weight though.

Yeah, I think I have decided to just take a probiotic instead of the yogurt. At least for a couple weeks to see how i feel.
