You are probably not insulin resistant. For those of us whose metabolism (ie sensitivity to insulin) takes longer for insulin levels to return to normal (lower than after eating) fasting allows the body to burn its own fat for energy, not store away more fat. Everyone is different, if you have good sensitivity to insulin…
-
Exactly! Over eating no matter eating one meal or ten a day will cause for weight gain. This comes up so often, people constantly look for a reason to over eat and justify it.
-
Thats not how IF works, you can eat fewer calories or your daily calories in a shorter time window. For those who are insulin resistant the IF allows the body a longer period of time to bring insulin down and burn body fat. There is so much mis-information out there.
-
Thanks @kirkor definitely understand about the some hungry some not days. For now I will just hold off, I might talk myself into breaking this tonight after my son's hockey practice, but we will see.
-
Your not wrong, just because we choose to live LCHF doesnt mean our family needs too as well. We can all co-exist in the same household.
-
my son is 8 and skinny, I feed him whole foods with carbs and I make my own food. I have enough will power to pass up the carb items he eats. Not an issue for me. He is not insulin resistant so no need for him to be on a LCHF diet like me.
-
Ooops, sorry, were we supposed to take a pic with the food still on the plate? This was a strip steak, spinach and butter.

The trend line is based on the actual weight and it does incorporate the projected and the projected ultimate desired weight at 175 so the R2 is being affected by those out months where I have projected weight loss and weight stability. As long as I am below a declining trend line I dont worry about the R2 too much.

i have a big box of splenda in my pantry, thinking it was a good sweetener option, no calories, no carbs, well it has dextrorse and maltodextrin. GI index 100 and 110. Slenda liquid has sucralose which has a GI of 0. Wish I knew that before I bought the box of packets.

@midwesterner85 thanks - I am feeling a little more comfortable- but newbies will see this as "eat as much meat as I possibly can"
-
Well you might have screwed yourself over only as long as it takes to get your insulin levels down again. In my opinion (and others) Atkins bars are marketed to the low carb community to make money, look at the total carbs! Look the ingredients, polydextrose is a synthetic sugar there is corn fiber and soy protein isolate.…
-
How about Potassium? I am struggling with all the comments suggesting that vegetable carbohydrates should be cut out. Where do you get the nutrients - that meat and fat do not provide?
-
-
In my opinion this is pretty irresponsible. Or am I missing something. Just having meat without any vegetables, you wont get any nutrients that the dark leafy greens gives you plus the vegetables flush out the fat and proteins. Hey its your body and go for it if you want. But anyone just looking into a high fat low carb…
-
If you don't eat leafy greens where are you getting your nutrients and fiber to flush out the fat and protein? The low carb diet is a high fat diet not a high meat diet. You are good with eating dark greens they will not spike insulin levels
-
I was like that for sure and had no intention of ever drinking my coffee other than black
-
Thanks @kpk54

Cool thanks @Sunny_Bunny_

Just say you are Insulin Resistant and cannot have any sugar or carbs. The term insulin resistant will scare the you know what out of them and they will never pressure you again
-
Let me add that I used to freak out when I didn't see the scale move sometimes for weeks. Your body can retain up to 4 lbs while you are doing everything right and losing fat but the scale will say otherwise
-
@anorman16 before I could see the pattern and understand that the body (mine and others are sharing the same timing) could retain up to 4 lbs of water while still reducing fat I had to share what I learned. I definitely don't freak out and more relaxed about the progress.
-
Oh and 175 is my desired weight so that's why you see a straight line in the future
-
@V4kerker now that I am approaching desired weight loss I am getting the tape measure out. The water weight will be deceiving soon and the measurements will be a better indicator of success
-
@spiffychick85 yes it is projected weight based on average lost to date
-
I learned it has to do with the way the body holds and manages water. Up to 4 pounds. So you could be burning and losing fat but your body retaining water and then once the water is released the weight loss shows that you had all along
-
If you dont track or log then its like jumping in the car and saying "let's go to California from New York" and not having a map to track progress, show you where you are going off the right route, how far you still have to go, how fast your getting there etc...
-
Sounds like you are settling. Not understanding your circumstances and if where you want to be is unheathly, but sure sounds as if you want to make excuses for not attaining your goal. If your trying to attain your goal using Keto, cut the sugar out, replace it Truvia or other no cal keto friendly sweetners. You cant hop…

Everyone will have different patterns the key is to identify yours.

@AlexandraCarlyle if your on board with LCHF you are going to read every label that is in a package. Even salad dressings that have Canola or Soybean, Vegetable Oil, while not trans fat you are going to AVOID. I make my own salad dressing and mayonnaise. It is so easy and since I use olive oil, vinegar, (eggs for mayo)…
-
Yes Trans Fat should absolutely stay at zero, but if you are eating Whole (non-processed) Foods, Healthy Fats you will not be ingesting Trans Fats...
