Yesterday was W4D1 and it was hard as HECK. I got through the two 3 minute runs and the first 5 minute run. But about 3 mins into the last 5 minute run I wasn't able to break through the wall and had to pause my timer to take a walk break. I walked for just under a minute, I think, did the last couple minutes of running,…

Yep, it's probably mostly water weight. Normal. It's possible you gained a bit of fat, but certainly not 9 pounds. It's also possible there are other variables that changed between your weigh-ins. Different times of day, different clothes, wet hair, did go to the bathroom before one weigh-in, didn't before the other, tons…

I usually make my own dressings. I do a vinaigrette modified to have less oil. My normal version is equal parts red wine vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and French-style Dijon mustard, with whatever spices or herbs would be good with the other salad ingredients. Switch out the acid and oil for a flavor change. Really the…

I've started relaxing a little with my eating habits--not logging some evening meals and snacks, not worrying about being under calorie goal EVERY SINGLE DAY, etc. Partly this is out of laziness, but mostly it's in response to a whole lot of thinking about the future. Some day I will be at my goal weight, and I don't want…

I think most people look older after losing a substantial amount of weight. But everyone always comments WOW YOU LOOK SO MUCH YOUNGER. Are they just being nice, or do they really associate fatness with age so strongly that they can't see the effects of gravity on looser skin? Similarly, I usually think the 'before' picture…

For me, I would rather have frequent small reductions to my calorie goal rather than bigger reductions less often. To that end, I update my fitness profile every time I hit a new lowest weight. Not every update actually changes my calorie goal, but when it does, it's only about 10 calories at a time, which is easy to…

I think OP is saying the conversation on MFP is boring, not his actual weight loss. Well, OP, most message boards are fairly repetitive, it's just the nature of the thing, and in a place like MFP where there's a huge turnover of members joining, talking for a while, and dropping out, it will be even more repetitive. In my…

I do aim dinner for as late as possible on those evenings, that's true. So far I haven't had any problems with next-day hunger, but, as always, your mileage may vary. EDIT: When I feel particularly hungry I'm definitely willing to exceed my calorie goal, but I tend to be hungriest midday, so light dinners are usually fine…

Pecans are my all-around fave. I am blessed and get amazing local pecans for free, I have 20 or 30 grams as a snack almost every day! I do also love peanuts (not nuts at all, I know), cashews, and macadamias.

I would probably make a cucumber salad and end with 50 or 100 calories to spare. It's my go-to for days I don't have many calories to spend on dinner.

Right?! It's such a nice feeling! Both of my new pairs of pants are a little snug, tbh, but that's by design--it'll mean they last a little longer as I keep losing! Another cool thing about this is that these are the first pants I've had since I was a CHILD that weren't called 'husky' or 'big and tall'. They came from the…

I liked wearing my new pants so much that I didn't want to wear my other, bigger pants! So I went and bought some more. The ones I bought yesterday are the same size, but they had the word SLIM in their description. And they FIT and they look GOOD. Like. My world is spinning a little. Also my mother told me that the pants…

Sometimes I think I should have gotten a checkup and blood work before I started losing weight. It would be interesting to know the changes. I know my blood pressure was on the high end of the normal range when I went to the eye doctor a couple weeks after I started, but other than that I haven't been to a doctor of any…

One of the downfalls of weighing weekly is that any time the scale reads higher it seems like the whole week was a waste. It's perfectly possible that you did great, lost fat, but happened to weigh while retaining water due to sodium intake, muscle repair, hormonal stuff, etc. Depending on your weighing methodology, you…

Although, as mentioned, cooking method can technically make a miniscule difference in calories, the difference is small enough to be negligible for any practical purpose. For egg calories, the two things to watch are the size of the egg, and other ingredients. If you're frying or scrambling an egg, the oil or fat you cook…

I buy rice and dry black beans in bulk. So cheap, so filling, so delicious! I also go through a lot of onions, garlic, cucumbers, and eggs, all cheap as heck. Other stuff that's not quite as cheap gets rotated depending on my mood and budget.

Not every week, but I do have pizza maybe two or three times a month. I love pizza, but it's my biggest binge food, so I have to be really careful or I go way overboard. Fortunately, my favorite pizza in town is 660 calories for a whole pizza, so as long as I don't overeat during the day, I can eat the whole thing for…

Realized that although I've been doing the right workouts, I've been calling them by the wrong name. So I didn't do week 4 last week, I did week 3. And I got through it, but it was hard as heck. Really nervous about W4D1 today. Two intervals of 5 mins, two of 3? I barely got through the 3 minute intervals last week. Yikes.…

......I just bought two pairs of shorts and a pair of pants that are a full 8 inches smaller than what I've been wearing. I know I've been wearing pants that were way too big, but I didn't know it was THAT much. Holy crap. Like, sounds fake, but okay.

I always go with my own personal scale, since that's the one I use most often. Meanwhile you might think about testing your home scale to see how accurate it is. Sometimes they get less accurate with age or low batteries.

Can't watch the vids at work, but I'll check them out later! Do our questions have to be weight loss/fitness related?

Meditation has its benefits, but the idea that meditating to 432hz would "reduce ptsd and extreme anxiety" more than meditating to 436hz, or 440hz or any other historical notion of the A above middle C (and heaven forbid one should meditate to a different note altogether), is laughable regardless of whether it's presented…

I have nonfat vanilla skyr for breakfast 5 or 6 days a week. Siggi's brand, 150 grams skyr and 17 grams berry cereal. Great breakfast! As for greek yogurt, I use it as an ingredient but never eat it on its own. I use it in place of mayo or sour cream. No, it's not the same, but in some cases it's an acceptable substitute.…

I'm having a hell of a time passing up food. I brought and ate a lovely healthy lunch to work today, then went downstairs to go out to take my walk. And they were selling hot dogs. Really good big beautiful ones with all kinds of toppings. Sooooo on top of my already-eaten lunch I had a big ol' hot dog, and, because it…

I'm not vegan, but I am curious--do you know which spices in curry your husband dislikes? Curry is not a single spice but an infinite number of combinations of spices. If you can pinpoint which ones he dislikes it's very easy to make curry dishes that exclude them.

I pretty much just decide what I want to eat, and if it normally has meat I make it without. Normally it's really easy to replace meat with veggies. Something like a burger or meatloaf takes a little more thought but it can be done, and it can be delicious! Particular faves are pasta dishes and things like gyros, tacos,…
