I can go 7 days without a BM and man it's sore by the 5th day. Now I take a mild laxative on day 3 and 4 and 2 on day 5. This way I get a good clear out without violent diarrhea. But one does nothing and if I take 2 without building up I'll be a heaving wreck on the floor with griping agony. I've tried liquid laxatives but…

My watch strap has had to go up 2 holes and I'm now shopping in the normal sized section of clothes shops.

My ferritin has never been over 10 in the past 30 years due to multiple pregnancies, prolonged breastfeeding, mennorrhagia and a stint being vegetarian. I must have spent thousands abd thousands of dollars on supplements to little avail. Then I had my sleeve and my specialist told me an iron infusion could be life…

I would hope the couple discuss things that would be a breaking point long before committing. If one partner really dislikes super skinny or super fat people as their partner thus should be discussed Ling before they move in together so both know where they stand. However both need to keep in mind that we all grow old,…

I found your post interesting and insightful, I just wanted to make a small correction. Oats are intrinsically gluten-free. The reason you see them specifically labeled gf is because unless grown in a wheat-free environment the oat crops are often rotated with wheat crops so that stray wheat plants will come up with the…

Meat at a BBQ is OK if not marinated or coated in anything with traces of gluten, and cooked separately. I bring our own meat and aluminum foil to cook it on because shared cooking space will contaminate the GF food. Also I bring g our cooking utensils as contaminated servers/tongs are too dangerous. These are the details…

I eat maybe one slice of toast a month max. If that. Rice I can take or leave abd eat maybe 2 teaspoons a month. Pasta is great but only because it's the vehicle for amazing sauces taught to me by my Italian mother in law. I don't eat breakfast cereal. But potatoes. Omg I could eat them for every meal every day, ant way.…

What I've also found is that people are used to it now and as we have never been aggressive or made a fuss it's a big non event. Most now try to do some GF options and happily try our GF food. Most salads can be made GF and I have several easy things like Lasagna that everyone loves that I can whip up and take to share.…

My kids are coeliac so eating out can be a mission. We choose to host rather than attend BBQs because cross contamination even from utensils will land my lot in hospital. If we have to go we take safe options but I'm like a hawk to make sure the Coeliacs ate served first before cc can occur and that they get some of the GF…

Sugar may not be addictive to some people but it is for others. Personally I don't believe in sex addiction nor smoking as an addiction because I'm not addicted to them. Ditto alcohol, drugs or gambling. Therefore they don't exist as addictions right?
-
Unfortunately in my personal experience and that of the hundreds of coeliac families on several fb groups I'm part of, many doctors don't know much about Coeliacs at all, know even less snout being gluten free and are often reluctant to test.
-
I'd like to see the science behind that. I sincerely doubt we actually. NEED gluten.

As the mother of 3 coeliacs I am happy to see so many people on the gluten free /gluten intolerant fad. It means way way more options and choices for Coeliacs. The more people demanding GF foods, the more companies will stump up. OTOH it's annoying to hear a gluten intolerant person blabbing on about how hard it is to live…

I was supposed to have my gallbladder removed 10 years ago but I chose to remedy my diet instead. It worked except for the occasional episode where I'd end up. In hospital needing morphine. It turns out avocado set me off, even a tiny sliver. No avocado no gallbladder attacks.

I'm 4 months out from gastric sleeve and 100% happy withy decision. It's given me control over my insatiable appetite and eating small meals of healthy foods has made me nutritionally healthier than I've been in 30 years. By that I mean the extensive blood tests they do show my vitamin and mineral levels are now normal as…

Banana dipped in peanut butter.

Quinoa. No matter how it's served. It's disgusting. Avocado and all fish simply because I'm allergic.

Vomiting and diarrhea? WTK? No one told me about that. How come I haven't had that yet? Dammit I'm missing out. WLS has huge benefits for some people. No matter what YOU think, having a much much smaller stomach has given me the appetite control I've never had in my life. I have never felt full before but now I do after a…

Nope, only that I wish I hadn't taken 3 years to finally do it.

Go for it. It's been wonderful for me. I have no regrets at all and the surgery itself was a walk in the park. No complications at all. I LOVE having appetite control for the first time in my life and actually really really enjoy eating. Don't be out off by B12 *kitten*. I've had them for half my life prior to surgery. I…

Sleeve here 4 months ago. 34kg down and loving no longer feeling hungry all the time. I eat 3 main meals and 2 snacks. Sometimes the 2nd snack gets missed if my water intake isn't up to a litre. I start with the protein, then vegetables and virtually never have space for carbs.

I believe diet drinks are the very devil and cause more harm than good. That Paleo is an excellent way to eat but it's not truly what Paleolithic humans would have eaten. Many fruit and veggies now lack decent levels of nutrients due to overfarming and leaching of soils therefore supplements are vital for long term good…

Definitely harder for vegetarians. I don't eat bread as I have coeliac kids so no issue there and I've tolerated most things we'll so far. I was vegetarian for 10 years and vegan for 2 but I couldn't be again so not an issue for me personally but I certainly hear you. It took me 3 years to decide to do it and I'm happy I…

Thanks so much for both points. :)

That's true tiffininghs. I've kicked my sugar addiction thankfully. All those things gs ate 100 % true of all diets, weight-loss plans too. Yes it's possible to slip back to old habits, breaking, make bad choices, swap one addiction for another, that's it's a lifestyle change, you need to work at it, change old habits etc.…

I work in a large hospital where 17 staff members have done WLS. 10 are 3+ years down the track and none have regained. I had mine 4 months ago and all good so far. After years of dieting it's great to actually only be able to eat a small amount and feel full. Before now I have felt hungry 24/7. Even after a large meal I…
