Hmmm. You may be right. I never thought of it from that perspective. I look at surgery as a fall back when in fact it takes the same effort and dedication as a regular weight loss program does. Thanks for your insight.

Thank you very much for your input. That really helps a lot. I've been looking for someone who chose not to go the surgery route. It's so great to hear your perspective.

40-50 lbs. Kind of depends on how I feel/look as I get close to my goal. No, there's no medical reason. My co-morbidity that put me in line to have the surgery is sleep apnea but I have a CPAP mask for that. It's just that in the province I live in it's considered elective surgery so there are very few operating rooms…

Yes, that's a really good idea.
-
True!
-
That's a good way to think about it. If I'm going to have surgery I have to be all in with it.

When my brother died we saw him a few days later in his casket. His lips were glued (or sewn) shut and he was ice cold. It was horrifying for me. I guess other people get some comfort from seeing their loved one one last time but I would rather have not experienced that. I appreciate the work you do.

I did the last time I lost weight (about 8 years ago on Weight Watchers). I lost 40 lbs and I looked great but I couldn't see it in myself for some reason. Very weird. I would go into a regular-sized clothing store and think "I have no right being in here." Not sure what the secret is. Just be very proud of yourself,…

I just read something about this show yesterday. How it permanently changes people's metabolism (and not for the better), how some of the trainers were giving their clients caffeine pills to keep them working out longer. Some of the trainers are absolute a**holes when the cameras were off. Sounds like virtually all the…

You could dump this site but you're still going to run into the same people in real life. Learn to ignore people who make you feel bad and appreciate people who make you feel supported.

Keep going sweetie. You're young and you've got your whole life ahead of you. Enjoy it!

I bought one and I think it's a waste of money. You can do the same thing with a sharp knife (except for the spirals I guess).

My doctor has me take 1,000 mg of Vitamin D all year round.
-
You're smart to do it while you're young and your skin can tighten up again. Great work. You look amazing.
-
Exactly. Get rid of her. No friendship should include this much drama and hurt feelings.
-
Oh my god, the crap people believe. Shudder.

If your municipal water is properly treated it's healthier than bottled water. Except for Evian, most bottled water is tap water. Bottled water is an environmental curse and tap water is a safer, cleaner and more environmentally friendly alternative. Bit of a bugaboo for me as you can see.

This could me be talking. My life was exactly like this. My mother was a wonderful cook and did an incredible job feeding 7 people on my father's income. She made bread and there was always cookies, ice cream or cake. I just never learned to develop an off switch when it came to sweets.

My father, who was also fat, required dessert every night. In later years he also expected it for lunch although that was usually fruit. My mother was a wonderful cook and made healthy meals. But I got my sweet tooth from my father and I still battle against it every day. I still feel like I should have dessert every…

This for me too.

This! Well said. I have a feeling people who mock the overweight or obese would also mock people of other ethnicities or people with disabilities. They are just cruel, hateful people who think - for some bizarre reason - that they are better than anyone else and have the right to judge.

Hi Wadwrich, I'd love to know where you are with this now. I'm in a program that will someday lead to bariatric surgery but I'm starting to feel more and more that I don't want to go that way. I've lost 21 pounds on my own sticking to 1300 calories a day. I'm feeling good and emotionally strong and I really want to do this…
-
This for me too.

I'm going to have a loose belly after weight loss but I'm more worried about the skin on my neck. After 19 pounds lost I already look like a turkey.

If the teacher or the school want to teach kids about appropriate eating they should bring in a nutritionist or a dietitian.
-
I'm going to be dealing that with that too. Plastic surgery is the only hope I'm afraid.
-
Mine worked for about a week and then stopped. I went through all the recommended steps to sync again but it won't. I've given up.
-
I don't really know which is worse but I do know that the weight loss clinic I go to - the eventual goal of which is bariatric surgery - will not take anyone who smokes. Period.

Apparently the bad teeth = heart attack thing has been disproven.

Whaaat!? That absolute creep!
