My big surprise was microwave popcorn. They put that big, bold 160 cal on there and put 3 servings per bag in teeny tiny print. I used to routinely eat the whole bag for an afternoon or evening snack. Not anymore. Husband is new to logging. His big surprise was mayonnaise (his condiment of choice) and that spoonful of…

https://juicerecipes.com/recipes/ this site lets you build juices and will calculate the calories. Just click on the build tab and make sure the calorie counter is set at juice and not solid.

I was in a very similar situation when we (Hubby and myself) started our "lose weight/eat better" journey (we have a teenage athlete in the house who was only partially on board with us). I had a pantry full of chips, sugary cereal, poptarts, and highly processed convenience foods. First, I stopped restocking things as…

My daily weigh in chart looks like a seismograph. No clue. I am assuming I am very sensitive to something, I don't know what the something is, that makes me either bloat or not bloat, retain water or not retain water. As much as 4 pounds from one day to the next and back again.

Join a basketball league. You have to change your thinking so that exercise is not an optional thing, even if it means waking up at a horribly early hour. For myself, I have to get my exercise in first thing in the morning, or it won't get done. I find it easier to get to the gym if I put on my workout clothes as soon as I…

I have always been "skinny-fat", so I don't hear the same kind of comments that an overweight person may hear. I think any and probably all negative comments other people make are made because they are envious of you. They know they aren't in the best shape/health/weight and are taking their own shame out on you because…

I have a follow up question related to the OP's question: I have been weighing every day (morning, naked, after toilet) for almost a month and have a wide range of numbers. Should I take an average (which is better-mean or mode?)? I get asked my weight at the Red Cross when I donate blood. They don't need an exact weight,…

Given that you have some health concerns, I would strongly suggest consulting with your doctor and a nutritionist (especially if your insurance will cover that) to get a workout and eating plan that will be healthy and work toward alleviating your respiratory issue. I have horrible allergies that can cause exercise induce…

Yep. I am a super picky, super-taster. I always notice. I just shake my head at all the "how to get your picky child to eat vegetables" articles (it won't work). He will notice that either it doesn't look right, taste right, or feel right. Texture is usually the thing that blows the disguise. Feed him a good multi-vitamin…

I know I eat like a toddler :) Nothing green save a tossed salad (basically just lettuce and cucumber drown in dressing); and salsa is as close to an actual tomato as I want to get. Honestly, other than bags of salad mix, potatoes, the occasional onion, and fresh corn when it's in season are the only reasons I ever went to…

PS: I blend the veg with apple, strawberry, watermelon, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, banana, orange, pretty much any fruit. The sweetness from the fruit, especially strong flavors like orange, really help mask the vegetable taste. A little ginger root goes a long way and adds a nice zing.

I think there is a semantics issue happening. Most smoothie recipes seem to include fruit, ice, and some sort of dairy. I think the OP is actually asking for "blended juice" ideas as opposed to a more pure juice, requiring an actual juicer. To the OP--I have never eaten vegetables (I am 48 years old and eat like a…

I have a minimum 5 pound swing, seriously can gain, lose, and regain that 5# within 24 hours. I am fairly close to my goal weight, so I decided that this month I'd start tracking my weight daily to try to determine what/why the fluctuations are occurring--overate on the weekend, hormones, etc. I know there are different…

This juicing site has a section where you select the fruits and veggie you have on hand, and it shows you recipes (user submitted) that use your ingredients. It also has a build-your-own juice (I have a Nutribullet, so I use the solids calorie count) where you put in how much of whichever fruits/veg and it suggests other…

Probably about 50 pounds each time. Older is 26, younger is 17, so it's hard to remember. I think I've blocked out the actual amount :s . I am 5'8" and weighed about 120 when I got pregnant with the first at age 21, and about 125 when I got pregnant with the second at age 30. After Baby#1 was born, I could fit into my…

Two motivators that are vanity driven--fitting into summer clothes (and all the other clothes) that had gotten a bit too tight and first ever international vacation to Italy in October. I don't want Hubby and I to stand out as "fat Americans", and I want to be able to climb the 400+ steps at the Duomo. I don't have a lot…
