  • Have you tried planks? It's a killer core workout and there are a lot of variations that can vary the difficulty. There are a lot of planking 'challenges' out there but I just try to hold one with good form for a minute.
  • I'm 5'1", and I feel this. Lower calories allowed per day, less room to hide an extra 5lbs, harder to burn calories at smaller sizes, less room for errors in logging.
  • I've been taking aerial classes. Really been struggling with my inversions off of the floor, lost them for a couple weeks after being sick. Managed to do three long arm inversion in a row yesterday in class. B)
  • I 100% understand the 'restricting calories' thing. I always eat significantly more than 1200cal on gym days. My TDEE is somewhere around 1500, so I am barely at the -.5lb a week mark. I've used MFP off & on for years so I 'get it', but I'm still kinda a newb to actually working out regularly. Only been back for a week…
  • @NorthCascades Thanks, that all makes perfect sense. Maybe I'll still get a pair of fuzzy dice though.
  • Thanks, this all helps. My instructors love active stretching so I figure the yoga entry in MFP fits that pretty well. It's just kind of hard to gauge because some classes we'll climb the silks 15ft 8 times in 20 minutes. Other classes we'll spend half an hour just learning to wrap a single drop. Which might be a lot of…
  • I believe you, but I'm not sure I understand. Is that because it's a more of a strength exercise than cardio? I'm kinda a newb to the whole 'recording calories' thing.
  • I've started logging the apparatus classes as 30-45 minutes of activity instead of the full hour. I was thinking a heart rate monitor might be the best way to get a more accurate caloric count. Not sure if I am ready for that kind of monetary commitment wanted to check the forums first.
  • I did a full pull up on a rope yesterday at the gym! O.o No idea I was capable of such a thing.
  • I've done a bit of hula hooping, and would love to do more! It's a lot of fun and definitely a killer exercise. I'd really like to learn a few new moves if anyone has any youtube suggestions.
  • This post is maybe a little old, but I'm pretty new to these boards. I've been doing aerials for almost a year now & absolutely love it. Mostly Silks & Lyra but lately I've been adding the occasional Pole & Rope classes into my schedule. I try to fit in a Flexibility class 2-3 times a week, and Strength/Conditioning…
  • One time I told a friend 'OMG you lost so much weight you look great!' And she replied 'Oh, uh, I had mono' So now I am very careful mentioning other people's weight.
  • I think two weeks is a pretty short amount of time to see change, especially if you are already relatively fit. Have you been taking any other body measurements? I started working out much more regularly over the course of the last year and even though the number on the scale went UP (muscle mass I'm pretty sure), my waist…
  • I also used to be terrified of group classes, but now I love them because having a specific time on my schedule makes me less likely to skip my workout for the day. I take a lot of classes at a local aerial gym, it's the kind of specialized classes that are not available everywhere but are really great full-body workouts.
  • I'm also on the 1200 train. I'm 5'1" and last time I weighed myself was pre-Christmas I was at 127lbs. I'm not so much concerned about a specific goal weight but would like a little less chub around the middle because I am getting married in Sept and also have an opportunity to perform aerial silks with local burlesque…
