We put a tablespoon or so in when making bone broth. Read somewhere that it helps extract nutrients from the bones. And we use it when we make our homemade lowcarb BBQ sauce.

Hello friends! Two weeks later and we figured we'd do a little update. We've been successfully low-carb since January 20th. Total carbs under 40g every day. We aim for net carbs < 20g but don't sweat it if we go over a little. No idea about weight, none of us has had the courage to get on the scale yet lol. We keep saying…

@Shadioutwo thanks for that link. We aren't on any psychiatric meds, but it was good to read. We follow that Dr on twitter, she's really good. @mmultanen I guess it went well lol. We sure ate enough carbs to last a week or so. :flushed: Thanks for asking! Never did make the cookies though lol. We saw a friend last week and…

We have black tea (orange pekoe or earl grey), with a bit of artificial sweetener and a teaspoon of 35% cream.

Thanks again everyone for your suggestions and advice and support! We worked on this at therapy today and will be working on it again next week too. It looks like for now we're gonna aim at doing lowcarb 6 days a week, and the 7th day will be open for treats or whatever, if necessary. We might not even need to eat them,…

Thank you @mmultanen and @kpk54 for the suggestions & advice. I gotta process this some more and we'll be going through it all with our therapist this week. All-or-nothing thinking is always a problem for us in lots of ways so that's something we have to try to get past & watch out for. It's hard tho cos when we're in it,…

Thanks for that info @tcunbeliever. Right now we were figuring on only weighing-in monthly, but keeping the water-fluctuation in mind we'll try and organize things around that. We haven't decided yet what the actual schedule will be, everything is still really up in the air for now. It may not even be something we can keep…

Hi @Cadori - we're gonna investigate carb cycling, and we are still doing excercise still which is the one thing we haven't messed up yet. The part who caused last week's crisis isn't against low-carb specifically, and sadly isn't easy to 'reason' with. I still got a lot to learn about this stuff. Putting the details in…

Hey folks - so it won't let me delete our previous post or edit it or whatever. It looks like we've uncovered some issues about the whole diet thing that we gotta really reconsider. Like basically without everyone on-board and in agreement, it's kinda abusive to force some of the parts into it without their consent? Not…

I am back again with an update and a question. We have uncovered this morning a possible (psychological) cause for the past week's difficulties. This has led me to question: Is it possible to benefit from the carbohydrate-reduced diet if it is only enforced six days of the week? The seventh day would be open for…

Two meals per day has been our normal routine for many many years, long before we started trying to lose weight. Our typical routine is firstmeal at around 10:00 and secondmeal at around 16:00, though that varies from day to day depending on other demands and schedules etc. On average tho, firstmeal is typically a spicy…

Thanks again everyone for your advice and suggestions and all. Today's crisis has settled down and we're gonna have a good look at all this. Definitely gonna cut the tea and soda for a while, see how that goes. And we'll try to get more calories in, and get the macros a little better wrt fat & protien. Also gonna discuss…

Thank you @mmultanen for bringing this to my attention. I have no recollection of her writing this. And thank you also for your kind comments. I will suggest to Violet that she should try and be a more active participant here again. I confess our activity here today has been due to the crisis we found ourselves in. I…

Thank you kpk54, your memory is excellent and you are correct about our diagnosis. Your post reminds me that there are documented studies demonstrating that in DID, different 'personalities' can present different physiological responses to medications. This leads me to wonder if we are now experiencing a different response…

Thank you tcunbeliever for your suggestions. We have been supplementing with 300mg of Magnesium Citrate (taken orally) every evening prior to bed. I will investigate melatonin supplementation.

Thank you baconslave for replying to my query. I am uncertain how our appetite has been affected as I generally am not aware of it, but we had not considered the impact of insufficient caloric intake, nor that decreased fat intake might have that affect on the body or mind. To be sure, while we have gained some weight…

We make stir-fry spicy pork for breakfast a lot of the time. Another favorite is like a taco-bowl kind of meal, taco meat & veggies & salsa in a bowl. Steak & salad is nice too some mornings. In the summer, bbq steak is a great breakfast.

Hiya @canadjineh! They only just met the new T and just started yesterday so they havent really talked so much yet. SMaybe soon they will get to talk about eating. Violet is the one who is around most soshe sorta acts like the boss lol. We dont hafta do what she says but too much fighting makes us all tired. Its…

Thankyou @kpk54! We read the first few pages and several of the links in there. That was interesting stuff about the hormones. I am sure we read some of that stuff before, Steph read several books about lowcarb and fasting and that hormone stuff was familiar. We'll try and keep in mind about taking breaks now and then, but…

Hey folks! - So it's been like 6 or 7 months I guess since we were last active in the forums here. Figured today was a good day for a follow-up. Cos it was one year ago today that our big breakdown happened and we like doing these 'aniversary posts' like Steph did lol. It has not been a great year unfortunately. We've…

We used to eat the same thing every day, and did pretty well with that. We're alone so nobody else to cook for, and it was easy / convenient to just plan for the same two meals all week long. One of our doctors even said, having a routine like that can help with weight loss. Perhaps they were right, we've had a lot more…

We haven't managed to lose any weight lately, actually up a bit from 12 months ago. :frowning: But we saw our endocrinologist yesterday, and bloodwork was all perfect! A1C, cholesterol, kidney function, etc etc, even blood pressure was all perfect. The doc was super pleased with all those results and so are we.

Interesting stuff. I didn't watch the video but I read the linked article and then found a list of the SNPs for DRD2. We've had our DNA sequenced so I checked all the SNPs listed, and most of them are normal. Just one came up with a risk of decreased dopamine receptors, the rest were 'normal'. In experience, we do have a…

So, one year ago today, we wrote the post at the top of this thread. It feels so wierd coming back to this thread and seeing what we wrote back then. Another entire year has gone by, and we're still doing our daily cardio. This morning was a 30km bike ride then a 1.4km walk to the local farmers market and back. The bike is…

Congrats!

Not really sure where to put this, but it feels like a victory and it's not scale related, so here we go. Bought a bike on Feb 8th 2017 because we had to quit walking due to a foot injury (plantar fasciitis). Didn't want to stop cardio though, and the doc said cycling was fine as it wouldn't stress the heel. 17 months and…

This was a super simple but delicious Keto breakfast - fast-fry steak and three free-range eggs. Fried it all in a little bit of butter, and seasoned with some salt and cayene powder for a bit of kick.

Not really doing any specific 'plan' or whatever, but have managed to get out and bike outside for 4 days running now. June 30th, did 35km plus a walk. July 1st, 22km plus a walk. July 2nd, 25km. This morning, 24km. Gonna try and keep doing this as long as we can / as long as the weather holds. Then we'll switch back to…

This is nothing fancy, but after a good bike ride this morning I came home and had BBQ steak for breakfast. Also threw some burger patties on the grill, to reheat later on. (It's too dang hot to be BBQing in the afternoons at the moment.) Steak n soda, breakfast of champions lol.

You look amazing @River_Goddess! Congrats and well done!
