I do everything Sunday to Sunday, this is my Nov 5th - Nov 11th wrap-up.* Water - 10 cups or more: 6/7 * Excercise every day: 7/7 * No plants / carnivore: 7/7 * Carbs 10g or less: 7/7 * Calories <= goal: 7/7 * Strict logging: 6/7 I was extra hungry during the first week but I'm getting that under control. That first week I…

I didn't know that about compression garments. I have some but I only wear them when I'm planning to run, otherwise the sound of my skin flapping and slapping gets distracting. I find them too uncomfortable to wear on a regular basis. FWIW my own strategy for dealing with the loose skin is, I'm taking collagen, gelatin,…

Macros (macronutrients) are your carbs, protein, and fat. Eat to hunger, but focus on protein and fat, and keep the carbs down.

I concur with your friend. Eat to hunger. Don't force food in you. And the whole 3 squares plus 2 (or 3!) snacks just keeps your insulin elevated all day long and makes it harder for your body to burn fat. Paraphrasing Amy Berg here, but "eating more (often) to lose weight" is a dumb idea. IMHO. With low carb your appetite…

I got myself a new pair of boots this weekend (which yay NSV on its own hehe, new pair of Dr. Martens) but while picking them out, I discovered something I really wasn't expecting: my feet have shrunk! I'd heard rumours that feet can shrink but I didn't believe it. I still don't understand it. I don't just mean width or…

I do everything Sunday to Sunday, so this is my 1st-week wrapup. Water - 10 cups or more: 7/7 Excercise every day: 7/7 (*) No plants / carnivore: 7/7 Carbs 10g or less: 7/7 Calories <= goal: 5/7 Strict logging: 5/7 My appetite has spiked upwards on this meat-only experiment and I'm eating more than I had planned. My snacks…

I usually keep a package of sausage sticks in my car, just in case. Check the nutritional info, some do have carbs or sugar, but there are plenty that don't. Nuts could be another good choice; almonds, pistachios, macadamia nuts, that sort of thing.

Thanks everyone for the feedback & comments! My biggest concern is that the doc will try and push statins or something like that. As long as the numbers are moving in the right direction though, I figure it's a good thing. And I do still have another 40lbs or so to lose, though that's definitely slowing right down lately.…

I've been watching the Basics challenges in previous months, but this month I'm jumping in. I've let myself slack off with strict logging, that's got to stop. My goals for the month:* Log everything strictly. * Carbs - 10 g or less. * Water - 10 cups or more. * Cals & macros - at or under goal. * Excercise - every day. *…

This morning I did my second ever 5k run. The first one was last month and I only ran about a third of it, walked the rest. Today I ran the first three km and the last km nonstop. I took walking breaks in the fourth km. I set a new personal best for the 5k (39:07) and also ran my single fastest km yet (7:13). Needless to…

Back in May I went on a hike with my sister, we covered about 5 or 6 km, some rough territory but not too much climbing. I had trouble keeping up with her, had to ask her to slow down a bit. Yesterday the two of us got together for another hike. We covered 11km, including climbing up to the top of the Niagara Escarpment…

I think it really depends on what you're eating and cooking prior to going low carb. For me I didn't find it cost any more. I won't say low-carb is necessarily cheaper, but I basically just eliminated stuff from my diet, or substituted. Eg. instead of spending $4 on stir-fry noodles, I spend $4 on riced cauliflower.…

We have some nice weather (for October) right now so I thought some grilled steak would be nice. Rib steak, served over spinach & kale with a side of broccoli. The greens were drizzled with my homemade sugarfree BBQ sauce to wilt them a bit before I put the steak ontop.

Not sure that this is a 'victory' as such, but... I sometimes work with very teeny electronics components, which require me to wear a loupe to see what I'm doing. I never had a problem keeping it in place before, I could put the loupe on it would simply stay put. Nowadays it's constantly falling out. I just don't have…

A couple of small NSVs for me today. First, I was going to visit my mum today and wanted to wear something nice. It took me forever to get dressed because almost all my nice clothes are suddenly enormous and look silly on me. The second NSV was at my mums place, I was helping her with some cleaning, and happened to notice…

How many calories are you eating on average? Apart from the walking, how active are you (excercise etc)?
-
Yesterday was weigh-in day and sure enough instead of one step forward, I'm two steps back. Or maybe that's three steps back. It's also Thanksgiving weekend here, we celebrated yesterday at my mum's place, and I managed not to be in a sour mood for the entire day despite the disappointment on the scale. Today however, I am…

I hate how much power the scale has over me, my mood. I know, logically, it should not rule me like it does. I know and often say, it is not the only metric, it is not even necessarily the best metric. Unfortunately, it is still the most common metric. In my experience, that is what people ask or mention. "How much weight…

I quite enjoy getting into a routine where every day the meals are the same. However I also shake it up now and then with some changes. This week is a departure from my normal regimen. Usually, all my days are like this: Coffee 1st thing in the am Cardio 60 - 90 minutes Start work 1st meal ~ 9:30 or 10:00 - spicey…

On the left, over 400 pounds. On the right, approx. 225 lbs, crossing the finish line after a 25km walk two weeks ago. Not really a fair comparison, sitting vs standing, but I didn't do a lot of standing prior to 2016, and have very few photos of myself. About 45 pounds to go, to hit my goal.

This morning, my sister and I did another 5k charity walk. This one was just a walk, it wasn't a race. But I kind of wish it had been a race. Because if it were a race... I'd have won! My sister and I sort of power-walked the whole thing, we reached the finish line so early they weren't even really set up yet. The…

I was first diagnosed with depression back in the 90's, then it was clarified as bi-polar disorder. I'd have major depressive episodes lasting from months to years, and then short manic periods lasting weeks or months. My last bout with depression went from 2008 to 2013 and there were several occasions during that time…

This morning I participated in my first 5k race! It was a charity run to raise money for youth mental health. I wasn't able to run all 5k but I ran as much of it as I could and walked the rest. I completed the 5k in about 44 minutes, which is 10 minutes faster than my previous best. I've been a bit giddy since then hehe,…

I never went through keto flu at the start either. If you're getting enough sodium in your diet, you won't have to suffer through 'keto flu' which is basically just low electrolytes. Sounds to me like you're doing everything right, rather than something wrong.

We've had a couple threads on this in the past few months. I can't find any of them because Search is unreliable. I definitely noticed an increase in my libido, that lasted a good long while - like long enough that now I don't know if it's back to normal, or if I'm just used to it.

Sorry you've had the summer illnesses to deal with @Bouddie. Kudos though on not letting that knock you off course!

Today, my sister and I did a 25 kilometer walk. It was to raise money for cancer research. 25km through downtown Toronto, we both signed up for this last November and neither were sure we'd actually be able to do it. Not only did we finish it, we kept an average pace of a bit better than 5km/h. It took us 5 hours, 20…

I can't recall ever having a food dream. Unfortunately, almost all of my dreams are stress-related nightmares.
