My goodness, hats off to you, sir!

Ugh. This thread got nasty quick. I agree with those who recommend increasing your activity to allow for your favorite things. It's a good approach for those of us with low TDEEs who want to avoid becoming a joyless ascetic (aka adult). ;)

Growing fuzzy down can be a sign of malnourishment. I'm not saying that's what's going on with you, I just wanted to add that for anyone reading who is fuzzing out -and- not eating enough.

Who said "soulmate"? We're talking about marriage here. ;)

Good luck hitting you goals! The motivated honeymoon phase is great and you'll accomplish a lot with that first burst! I just want to say: Love unconditional is the only solution, because next time it might not be your weight that bothers you.

Thanks for sharing that; I loved it!

@MegaMooseEsq I'm always impressed by your comments; you have a good noggin!

Biggest surprise is how little of a change losing 50 lbs has made physically for me compared to the mental changes. I went in on a lark with a "let's see what transpires, what's the worst that can happen?" outlook. The vast majority of the changes have gone on between the ears and in my heart. This has been really good for…

Stalls: Who cares which stalls someone else uses? They may have a colostomy bag or medical apparatus. Or just want somewhere to put their purse where they can get into it. Whichever way, it's none of my business, I'm sure!

Just wanted to tell OP great work and I love your look!
-
Probably next to nothing. Move on, you're fine.

You got crazy-brains like me, and like most people, so the whole self-perception stuff is foggy at best and dead wrong at worst. You're doing great, and that level of loss is almost certainly evident. You'll start to notice it in other ways soon--you'll catch your reflection when you least expect to and the change will…

I lost some weight, yeah. Mostly I just dropped the dread. My body shape is typical of my background and I refuse to hate it. :)
-
I am braced to catch a beating for this: Almost all people who lose weight put it back on eventually. http://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/10.2105/AJPH.2015.302773 There are those who don't re-gain, of course, and I would speculate the odds are higher here because MFP members are actively engaged in long term-weight loss…

I can tell you're an English teacher by your correct use of the semicolon.

I'm not in the anti-yoga mat compound camp. I didn't mean to start a controversy/source-citing frenzy. Eat fresh, friends.
-
Okay, Jared. ;)

I think the key is consumer awareness! It's all fine and good if I know I'm eating lousy. If I have no idea that a bakery is feeding me mulch (like that odious 70's bread--and Subway's yoga mat scandal more recently), that's a whole other story.

You won't believe number 6! ;)

But at least they were bikini-ready, tee hee.

There was also the horrible practice of baking so-called horse bread. That is bread cut with other non-digestible ingredients--saw dust, grass, straw bits, even sand--used as a filler. So you feel full on bread made from free stuff kicking around the yard, but there's no calories or nutrition and it'll ruin your digestive…

I read a great book, The Third Horseman: A Story of Weather, War, and the Famine History Forgot by William Rosen. I could be botching the numbers somewhat, but I believe the book calculated that the average peasant from West/Central Europe (Flanders and surrounding regions) in the 1300's consumed about 2100 calories per…

A lot of people suffer from body dysphoria and feel like their body or parts of their body are ill-proportioned. Chances are you look fabulous. Take it easy on yourself. :)
-
The body can only convert so many calories from stored body fat to energy per day. Then it moves on to lean tissue. Do yourself a favor and try to meet that your calorie goals. I know it's hard when you're eager. Good work so far. :)

These parents are giving me an ulcer and I don't even have to deal with them. My heart goes out to you. You should follow your instincts; it sounds like you have a good moral compass and care about this girl.
-
Whoa! That's eye-opening.
-
I feel the same way. I think I'm bummed out from not feeling good about myself for a long time paired with keeping my deficit on the higher side without a lot of progress. I'm working on trying not to care so much but it makes me irritable to try for nothing. I hope you feel better soon. :)

You're doing well; watch those viscous thoughts, though! You're doing everything you can to get on a healthy track and should be sure to tell yourself that often.
-
I just wanted to post to chime in support. Good luck!

Never. I was hot as the mid-day sun even when I was super fat. ❤️
