Hi! I moved from Seattle back to my home state of Michigan. While I love it here, I now remember vividly why I moved in the first place--I don't really fit in all that well even when I try to. Though friendly and neighborly, I'm finding it it difficult to make friends on a level any deeper than exchanging…

@cellosmiles My fella is also from Arkansas too, what a coincidence! We're planning a visit down there in late June. He's the Gumbo chef too, which usually mean it's molten hot spicy! Creole seasoning is great to have around because it's great on steamed veggies, eggs, or just about anything really! I've never blended my…

Happy Tuesday! Tuesday goals: 1. Cook the nice steaks in my fridge and limit my portion to under 6 oz. 2. Have dinner al fresco to enjoy all the gardening I did over the weekend. 3. Set up the badminton net and play for at least 1 hour. @cellosmiles Chicken breast is tricky because it dries out so easily. This is a big hit…

PS, I know you aren't looking for compliments, but you are GORGEOUS!

Have fun! If the person you're meeting is a drag or even slightly irritates you, cut it short and take yourself out. You never know what adventures you can have. Live your life and enjoy! You're only 20 once!

37+ lbs in 88 days. I'm a little cagey about it because I felt like that rate of loss is a little on the rapid side to be acceptable, but apparently not! Nice work.

I think you need to be more involved at home. The lifestyle you've described here isn't working for the two of you, though it may work perfectly for people who love having very independent lives. I'll bet that's not how your wife prefers things. If it's what you want, there's a possibility that your compatibility is…

OMG I just learned there was a The Lathe of Heaven TV movie made in 1980. That hits so many sweet spots for me; I believe I suddenly have weekend plans.

The Found and the Lost: The Collected Novellas of Ursula K. Le Guin. She is probably my favorite writer, so I'm ready to dig in to this mighty tome.

Thanks, @cellosmiles ! I missed that first section, so here's a re-post of that bit. Sorry for the newbie mistake. This is my first challenge! Name: tabletop_joe Age: 32 Height: 5'6" Start Weight (week of April 19): 231 Goal Weight (week of June 28): 212 (admittedly ambitious, but if I fail, I still win).

I can't recommend a food scale enough. I was under-eating by as much as 40% using volume measurements. Please don't put yourself through that!

Hi! I've enjoyed lurking here but I think it's high time I quit lurking in the shadows and join you, if you'll have me! I started above 260, but I was too scared to find out how much, so I didn't weigh for the first couple of weeks. I'd eventually like to get to 150, which I haven't been since childhood. Since I…

@theowlbox I love it. Unlike Jack Black's career, Swift's writing still feels relevant. 8:30 am? You ARE hardcore. I love Terry Pratchett, but I haven't read anything from the Discworld universe. It's daunting to me for some reason, and I don't know where to start. Are either of the titles you mentioned a good place to…

32, and I have 1 kid who's older (if you do the math, and so many people do, you can see I was really young). I chose not to have more. I get what you mean about the mommy stuff being ubiquitous to boards and groups. I've always avoided it and made an effort to keep my goals and stuff separate from my family life. I never…

I love the Made for TV mini series Gulliver's Travels starring Ted Danson from the late 90's.

You have a great attitude and it's lead you to great things. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

Congrats on the weight loss, 50 is a lot of hard work! You started out super pretty and continue to be!
-
How did you score a cherry gig like that, you lucky ducky?
-
I don't weigh myself after unusual weekends for the same reasons. Sorry you're discouraged!

^Ah, the concern troll approach to abuse. They're always so worried about you! Why can't you just accept their no-nonsense love?

Better yet!

You probably pee more after sleeping longer. >_> That's my best guess!

You and your buddy both seem like fun ladies! Great work; you look fabulous! Love that top on you!

If you decide to take a break from deficit, I recommend getting 100 extra calories a day for a week and see if that slows the loss. If not, take in another 100 per day the next week. Move into maintanence slowly when you decide it's time! And great work!

I just finished The Water Knife, and I loved it. It felt very much like a prestige tv show, like Breaking Bad set in the near dystopian future, with water instead of drugs being central to the plot. I love all the characters and I love the care they were developed with, and I will be reading anything else I can find by…

While In on the stationary bike, I'm reading Benjamin Wooley's The Queen's Conjurer: The Science and Magic of Dr. John Dee, Advisor to Queen Elizabeth I. And because I apperently can't get enough if the black and bloody past, I'm reading The Third Horseman: A Story of Weather, War, and the Famine History Forgot by William…

I reward the hell out of myself. It keeps me going because a) I don't think I look better thin b) health, shmealth. I've always felt healthy, even when I wasn't, so where's the upside to that? I need something to keep me working towards my goal, even if it's not a natural consequence, because it will still further the real…

Siracha, mustard, pickled vegetables--things with a lot of zing that perk up an otherwise bland (but healthy!) meal.

^^^Into the Wild was really good. Sad and infuriating, but very well written and researched.

Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer by James Swanson is a keeper! I also loved Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson was wonderfully grim and fascinating. You'll also learn about an interesting era in American architecture as a bonus! If you like Alan…
