Agree with all this and many of the other posts upthread, especially acknowledging that weight loss is not linear. The chart posted above is also very helpful in rooting out issues.

Hang in there & keep asking questions. Some answers may be hard to accept & may challenge some strongly-held diet beliefs, but the bulk of the MFP forum posters provide great, no-nonsense advice.

Thank you. Was just about to address that first "comment." Completely unnecessary.

What are your stats? (height, weight, age) What is your daily calorie goal as set by MFP? Also, what activity setting did you choose? What rate of loss (0.5 lb/wk, 1/wk, etc)?

Wrong. My husband is 5'8" and 175#. That's an overweight BMI and, according to IBW (lol), his ideal weight is 148-153. His body fat is 12%. No hormones, no steroids. Maybe now you can get inspired and improve yourself...let go of the excuses that say it's impossible to have a few extra pounds of muscle with a disciplined…

I'm 5'8". The median for my BMI range is 143.5. The IBW for my height is 138-141. So you're telling me that, especially for women, the center [of the BMI range] is still high? It's a two pound difference...not a 20 pound difference. You're splitting hairs over a negligible figure. IBW still fails to account for people who…
-
Exactly. But even with BMI considered it's still splitting hairs over one pound. If a 5'6" woman had lost a bunch of weight and posted on MFP how proud she was to hit 155# because she's finally at a healthy weight, would it be appropriate to comment to her and say, "Umm, no, actually you're not. 154 is healthy for your…

Love the hyperbole. When 5'6" at 115# is underweight & 116# is normal (according to BMI), it's reasonable to call it out as a questionable goal, in any universe.

Great question! OP, if fasted cardio feels better while you're doing it & that's just your preference, go for it. If you're looking for a program that promises fat burning benefits beyond a caloric deficit, this isn't it. There's an article on bodyrecomposition.com that details the benefits of fasted cardio. It's my…

No. But it's also too early to tell. If you haven't been lifting & you just started today & worked with decent intensity, I'm guessing you'll be sore tomorrow. It's usually delayed onset.

How early in the morning? Do you meet your PT when you workout in the mornings? I once had a PT who hated that I wanted to meet at 5:30am. She would cancel on me or would make snide remarks about how early it was. You might consider that it's your PT who wants to sleep in.

I love The Onion. I sent that link to my husband. This was his response: "Dude needs to do some inverted shoulder presses and pull ups from the window sill. I find His lack of dedication....disturbing"
-
How are you measuring & tracking your foods?
-
Lol...really?
-
Have you looked at men's workout tanks? Also, why can't you wear racerback tanks? I have sports bras with traditional style straps & wear racerbacks all the time. Maybe if I was going out shopping or to dinner I wouldn't want to have my bra straps showing, but it's the gym.

The smart points system also seems to bring out the most creative & manipulative ways to cram as many calories into as low a point value as possible. People love bragging about eating entire watermelons for 0 smart points. While I was on WW, I gave myself a huge pat on the back for making an entire meal for 0 smart points…

Have you ever taken a diet break?

I didn't say anything about the OP. My comment was regarding the comments of others.

I love all the "I wish I had time to walk 3/6 hours a day..." Anyone remember the Detroit man who walked 21 miles (round trip) to work everyday? Even at 4mph that's over 5 hours of walking a day. Not all walking is for exercise or leisure. Some people commute that way.
-
I've done a few of the different variations of WW points systems over the years. I'm betting they've adjusted their points to a more complex, proprietary algorithm in order to make it less translatable to calories/macro grams so it keeps people using their system. OP, consider making some friends on MFP/participating in…

I happen to think my hip dips make my thighs look bigger, in a good, strong way. I'm just going to pretend that this is what AC/DC was referring to when they sang about American thighs.

I'd never heard of this until this thread. This seems appropriate:

Well said.

My initial reaction to this was "awesome," shortly followed by, "That *kitten* sucks that she feels she needs to say that."

THANK YOU, to you & @GottaBurnEmAll Drives me bonkers when someone with a bad cold for 2-3 days or an upset stomach claims they had "the flu." I always ask if they had the actual scraping swab jammed up their nose for proper testing & usually get, "Uh, no...my doctor just said it's probably the flu..." :unamused: No. No,…

If you're uncertain that your previous tracking was accurate (via weighing everything you eat), it's likely you were eating more than you think you were. Hopefully tightening up on your tracking will yield the results you're working for.

No.

Took a long time for me to figure out I have to be an abstainer & not a moderator. It's never just one bite for me, either.

Oh ffs...where do people get this *kitten*?
