I haven't but I have a friend who has. She is overweight and used some obvious photos to show what She looked like. She has had success and has had relationships from online dating. She's currently in a long term one now and has been with him for a few yrs. She says it's the new way of dating and you kind of have to…

Me too! I would be kind of mortified if anyone heard my music in the pool. I sometimes forget and sing along, then you can hear it only when i take a breath. Cool down time is all smoooooth jammmmmms. I vote yes on all 90's r & b and would add the 70's to that. Teddy Pendergrass and Ron Isley make me instantly…

I will always love the pre lottery winning years of Roseanne, but especially because Glenn Quinn went on to be Doyle in Angel! It all comes together!

Upbeat hip hop or rap. Enjoy anything kind of positive that is medium paced so I can time it with my swim stroke. Too fast and it's off beat with my body, too slow and I laze in the pool. You?

1. Portland, OR 2. CSI Las Vegas and All Hail King Julien (which I keep watching over and over because I find it hilarious though I am 39 and the only person I know who watches it is my 11 year old neighbor boy) 3. A mushroom because they were seriously cute and happy in Fantasia. 4. Dream vacation would be Bruges Belgium…

I started at around 375 and am now down to about 318. Goal is between 150 and 200. Not sure till I get closer. I'm 5'11" so I imagine it'll be more than 150 but not sure by how much. Like most people here I've had a difficult relationship with my body. But I've been working on that for a long time, and I'm only now able to…

I'm CICO and trying to increase veggies, eat whole grains and just generally increase the quality of the food I eat. I'm almost a year in and 55 lbs down. My plan is to not do anything I can't do forever and to learn to cook foods that I love and that are good for me. Because my knowing how to make meat and potatoes style…

Routine! Motivation is hard to count on, but routine wI'll save you every time. Every time you mess up or make a bad choice, do What athletes do: review the tapes. Look at what led up to it, what happened and the consequences afterwards. Also, look at successful times and do the same. That's how you'll figure out stuff…

This is not the best article or the best source, but it has pictures which can help it to sink in. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/weight-loss/weight-fluctuation-experiment One of the long term lessons to learn about weight loss is that fluctuations occur and you'll need to know what is normal for your body over many months…

I am way into rewarding myself. I think the key for me is to measure whatever the goal is and hit it rather than just go with the feeling: I deserve a treat. I'm into anything body are or self care related. Also a fan of activities. You all have some great ideas!!

Hey all, fyi this exists if you're into it. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/3322-100-pounds-with-no-surgery The people in there are awesome and super supportive.

Tell us how you liked them when you finish? I want to read both!

I agree with everyone, but might add this: save some calories and ritualized your pm snacks. Eat dinner. Clean up. Do whatever chores. Then reward yourself with a cup of something warm like tea or hot cocoa and a small snack. The idea being, you finish your dinner, linger over a a cup of tea or water, Clean, etc. So from…

Just started The Destructives by Matthew De Abaitua. Interesting book about AI.

I think this article does a good job of outlining why people have continued to believe it's helpful and what the research actually suggests you do with the vinegar. I think it takes some science literacy to look at the raw papers, but i like that there is a link to them if you want to read for yourself.…

Agreed! I'm here too and it takes planning. Let's team up!

When all the new people come (whenever they do) i find myself doing a million drive by "don't be so hard on yourself and change takes time and review" postings. It is kind of like a service they provide me by helping me to narrow down my focus instead of making it diffuse and unhelpful. Every time i say it to them, I say…

Can I just focus on a divergent train of thought here? You are freaking out and overwhelming yourself with thoughts about weight loss. You've commented 150 times in 2 days. You seem like you are trying to think yourself out of eating and using shame and scare tactics to try to freak yourself into having different…

This is a great group and super supportive! There are some really inspiring people on there.

If you yourself don't have a dog, I get why the "human-dog relationship improvement" suggestions are not that motivational. It's like saying play with someone else's kid because kids are great! You work a lot so think of the dog as a grand dog. You get to enjoy it without ultimate responsibility! Utilize the dog as a tool,…

Just started Cooked by Michael Pollan. A nice switch for my sciency book clubs. This is a nice change from Hope Jahren's Lab Girl.

Just finished Easy Street (the Hard Way) by Ron Perlman. Great book and very interesting person. Surprisingly insightful.

I love a cheap kindle read for 3 hours on a sat or a weeknight of insomnia.

Typically to begin losing weight you need to know how much you are eating and using (via exercise or basic body function) and you also need to reduce that amount. Absolute basics. So in your initial post you said you quit WW because you didn't want to track. That might be an issue. You somehow have to know what you're…

I just finished Silver Screen Fiend by Patton Oswalt and now I'm on to Easy Street, The Hard Way by Ron Pearlman. I read another book of Oswalt's but this one was pretty hard to get into unless you're a film nerd. (Which I am not.) I deeply love Hellboy so I'm interested to see what Ron Pearlman has to say. I saw the…
