I agree with crochet or whatever hobby you like that keeps your hands busy (knitting, woodworking, etc). I snack way less when I pick up my embroidery projects.

I log as much as I can. I cook from scratch too and it surprised me how the carbs in particular can creep up when I add in all the spices, onions, etc.

I lost a ton of weight in the past and loose skin wasn't an issue at all - the only thing I can attribute it to was that I was exercising regularly (aqua aerobics classes).

No. I gained when I tried that approach in the past.

I've tried in the past and my body was NOT happy. The fatigue, headaches and overall mental 'fuzziness' felt....downright dangerous. There were days I literally couldn't drive, I was that fuzzy and fatigued. That was just my experience though, I have friends who are keto and they do well with eating that way.

Yes, all of your points go for me as well. The biggest difference for me has been seeing the numbers. My daily calorie, carb and sodium totals are right there on the screen - I can't lie to myself. I'm pre-diabetic so I have to watch my carb and sugar intake. The sugar dragon....oh boy... What finally worked for me was literally not having any sugar in the house. No sugar, no honey. I don't worry about condiments that have sugar in them such as worcestershire sauce or ketchup because I use very little of those kind…

Potatoes, man. Fried, roasted, mashed....they're too high carb and high glycemic for me. Frozen pizza, fried chicken, and chicken wings are also foods I stay away from these days. Either too high glycemic, way too much sodium, or too high caloric.

My condolences, I'm sorry for your loss. I find cooking for one challenging (except with eggs). Basically, I had to learn to like leftovers and I actually love leftovers now. I especially love stews and soups and they taste better after a couple days in the fridge anyway. It's easy to use up leftover meat and veggies in…
