Great work Ahrengirl!

OMG. That one has to take the cake!

I really worry that the research about long-term side effects is not complete enough. I know that for some people, if their lives are at risk, they might feel they don't have another choice, but I do worry it will hurt their health long-term. It doesn't sound easy, even if all goes well. But for many people they even have…

That's probably mostly true, but I do know a few people who just aren't really into food. I have a friend who says he "always forgets to eat" and has to carry protein bars with him, then force himself to eat them, so he won't lose too much weight. When he does eat he tends to be picky too, so maybe that has something to do…

My mother is older, short, small, sedentary, in heart failure and says her maintenance is 1200. She cannot gain or it messes up all the meds for heart failure and her artificial heart valve. Her doctor put her on one medication that caused her to wake up in the middle of the night and eat, she said it was almost like sleep…

Portion sizes in restaurants have increased and most studies show people eat out more today and eat more take out when they eat at home. People still think they are eating a "serving" but a serving now is bigger than it was then.

Just as an example, I think off the top of my head I'd be allowed approx 20 points a day, without the flex points you can spread over the week. What I ate yesterday maxed my calorie allotment on MFP, but because it was mostly raw fruits and veggies, I think I only used about 18 points. Now, using MFP I'm losing exactly on…

A problem for me with weight watchers is giving fruit (and actually many vegetables) zero points. It works for someone who doesn't currently eat fruit. For someone who loves fruit, eats a lot of squash and eggplant and beans, and is a bottomless pit in general, it doesn't work.

2.7 kg isn't anything to sneeze at though! Especially when you get closer to your ultimate goal weight the weight is slower to come off. My mother (annoyingly) reminded me over the weekend that I'm only losing this fast right now because I'm still so overweight! Gee thanks mom!

SW: 181 lbs - 82 kg FW : 165 lbs - 75 kg GW: 165 lbs - 75 kg Met, but did not exceed, my goal!

I'm in the same boat in a lot of ways. History of disordered eating, was already eating whole foods, not junk, etc. I was just used to eating a lot of food by volume. The first two weeks I felt hungry all the time. Depending on my calories I sometimes tried to snack on something low calorie, or sometimes I took some fiber…

My dad lost a lot of weight, even got under weight, eating c-rations in Vietnam, because most of it was so bad he threw it away.

Heart issues run in my family and that and my blood pressure were big motivators to lose weight. You might want to get a doctor to run some tests and see how your heart is doing. I was glad to learn I didn't have any narrowing of the arteries, even with my blood pressure. I don't always feel well enough to do really…

I end up spending the bulk of my budget on fresh vegetables and salad greens and then most days I eat salads for lunch and dinner. But that's just me. Others have other solutions. Beans of course are relatively cheap and nutritious, I usually have them twice a day too. Bulk oatmeal... But everyone is different.

I read that the more body fat a person has the more of the hunger hormone grehlin the body produces... I dunno, this was given to me as an explanation why I'd get so nauseated with gnawing hunger when I hadn't eaten when I was at my heaviest. It's like "why do I feel like I'm dying when I clearly have energy reserves to…

I'll just throw in here that my rheumatologist (for lupus) told me that the best diet for reducing inflammation is plant-based with low to no animal protein and extremely low fat. Then he said he loves bacon and nobody manages to stick to the plant diet so he gives out pills instead, which don't really do much except…

The only thing I worry about with restaurant foods if if they are totally accurate on calories or if it's only approximate. Anyway, if you do this and finds your weight loss goes well, then I guess that means the calories are correct. If you have trouble fitting it into calorie goals though, many places let you request…

If you put your dressing and toppings in different containers from the greens, the salad won't wilt as fast. Also you can get an insulated lunch bag and/or add an ice pack.

You can check the calorie counts for yourself, but I get a lot of Amy's brand frozen meals and even canned products (more for my husband than for me actually) and found the calories pretty low compared to similar products by other brands. Sorry that I don't know Denver well. When I lived in NYC most of the kosher delis…

Now they are investigating worms, or rather chemicals they release, to treat inflammatory diseases actually. Everything comes full circle I guess. On weight loss without trying though, that's usually a bad sign. My cousin started losing a lot of weight suddenly for reason and it was due to diabetes. Of course once they put…

I want to market a new fad diet. It's called the "Smack Your Hand Diet." It works every time for everyone. All you do is hire someone to follow you around and smack your hand whenever you reach for a food that exceeds your calorie limit.

SW: 181 lbs - 82 kg CW : 168 lbs - 76.2 kg GW: 165 lbs - 75 kg I'm sick, with bronchitis. I thought it would slow me down because I can't exercise. I still have to walk to work, but cannot go to the gym. However it also seems it slowed down my appetite too--not being able to smell makes food less appealing.

Yeah, I eat several pieces of fruit and two big salads just about every day. Last night instead of salad I had a big plate of steamed greens. So one way or another I probably get more than 9.

Except for that one about lemons and highway fatalities. That's 100% legit! Lemons, I have my eye on you! I will say that my rheumatologist (for lupus) says that he can see in people's blood work that the inflammation markers go down if they reduce red meat and eat more vegetables instead. But that's in a select population…

Stevia. To my taste that stuff is bitter and has a funky aftertaste. Quinoa: I've been told there are good types and yucky types but what I've tried has had a bitter aftertaste I can't get past.

For me in particular this was important. I'd failed diets in the past because they insisted I either had to give up rice or eat only brown rice. I LOVE basmati and jasmine rice and frankly, to me, I just don't like the brown versions of those rices as well. I'd feel deprived not ever having my favorite things and give up.…

Just be careful to not get too wrapped up in your music or play it too loud. You should try to remain aware of your surroundings.

Greens! You can eat a lot for very few calories. They make you feel full for a while, but do digest quickly. If you add a little fat and protein with them though, it lasts longer.

I put salsa on my salads. Then again I love salsa so much I can eat it straight.... Also avocado adds creaminess (also calories though). If you put something flavorful on top of the salad that can help--like for me seasoned baked tofu. I think also it helps to get more creative with your salads. You could add things like…

Amazing news. I've caught a cold so I haven't been exercising this week. I hope to catch up next week. We'll see!
