My wife and I have Type 2 Diabetes. We manage it with diet and exercise. My last two A1C were 5.8. My highest was 6.4. We go to Diabetes classes at our hospital once a year or so . I get a blood test every 4-6 months with my A1C test. We were diagnosed borderline Diabetic about four years ago.
