I am a 63 year old hippie guy and I have used MFP for about 10 years, I think. I was on and off with logging my foods and my weight was like a yo-yo. When I had some excuse to stop tracking (travel, holidays, stress, a day that ended in “y”, etc.), I would gain weight. My highest weight ever was about 3 years ago, at 258.…

Vigilance in tracking is the thing that makes it work for me!

Naturally, you should consult medical professionals who know you. I have a pharmacist who is part of my primary care team and she is an expert on diabetic meds. She told me to eat a balanced diet (at each meal, no skipping carbs all day to have a giant bowl of ice cream), and they could control my sugar level with meds.…

My doctors recommended 40% carbs, 25% protein and 35% fat. However, I am also supposed to get this same balance at each meal - I'm not allowed to "bank" my carbs for a huge bowl of ice cream :-)

I use the Map My Walk app, and it posts them to MFP, automatically. Today was 2.2 miles for 410 calories. I'm about halfway through to my goal of losing 50 lbs or so. I have diabetes, well managed with oral medications. I am looking for friends like me, too (well, too much like me would make you a weirdo, which is ok - but…

Hi, Retired hippie, 62, living with diabetes, been on MFP since 2014. Been yoyo-ing between 260 and 245. Currently 227 (yay!) MFP helps me monitor calories and macros (and my A1C is about 7.5), but only if I log meals faithfully and honestly. I always way myself every morning, even if I'm gaining. I write it on the…
