  • Homemade: 3 c Non fat powdered milk 1 c almonds 1 c rolled oats 1 serving = 1/2c Store for up to two weeks. Usually, I will add the 1/2c powder mix, add a banana, yogurt, and 8 oz milk (or water), and mix. I usually get about 31 grams of protein, it definitely keeps me full, and it's way cheaper than anything store bought.…
  • I haven't been on WW in several years, but for me, I felt like I didn't truly learn anything. (Ex: I have two seemingly comparable foods in front of me. One is 4 points, and one is six. OK, but WHY? WHY is one 2 points more? That tells me absolutely nothing about making it in the real world.) I've only been on MFP for a…
  • I have found that it helps to keep a variety of protein/fiber bars on hand. At the end of the night, if I'm still missing a chunk of protein or fiber, I grab the bar that most closely matches my needs.
  • Are you depriving yourself so much during the week that you're going crazy on the weekends?
  • I was on Effexor 2 different times, the last time for 3 1/2-4 years. I stopped after developing memory problems. Sadly, after stopping, I found out that memory problems is a side effect, one my doctor never told me about. I also found out that a person shouldn't really be on them for longer than 6 months at a time. :# The…
  • I, too, see a difference in all three pics. I remember a makeover show several years ago that started off with a scale of people...very thin to very obese. The subject was asked to place themselves in the lineup, where they best felt they fit. The host would then take the person's stats and move them to where they really…
  • We're having a cookout today, and I plan on eating what I want without making myself sick. A week ago, I had a rough Friday night. Let's just say that pizza and breaksticks (and sauces!) were involved. I ate...and then ate some more....and then gained weight Saturday and Sunday. Saturday morning, I hopped right back on the…
  • Fiber. In case you didn't realize this, you can change your macro settings, so you can monitor your fiber intake easily. The last couple of years, my sugar intake has been on the lower end, so I removed the sugar column and put fiber in its place. It helps to keep me on track.
  • I thought it was a piece of fish wrapped in paper towel! I never would have guessed fish.
  • I've had a Tanita scale for years, and my weight at home is only ever 2 or 3 pounds under the doctor's office scales. By the time you factor in clothing (which I don't wear while weighing at home,) I'd say it's pretty accurate. The only thing that might be a negative is that mine weighs in 1/2 pounds. It's not a problem…
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one, though it really has nothing to do with weight for me. I am ALWAYS freezing....at home, at work, etc. In fact, I just cranked my thermostat up to 73, before I saw this thread, and I'm still sitting here, shaking like a paint mixer. It's terrible at work, too. My co-workers are constantly…
  • Something that wasn't mentioned in this thread - Be sure to check any of the foods you log here. I've only been here a month, but almost everyday, I have to adjust some of the numbers entered in the nutrition area of various foods. Ingredients/recipes change over the years, and who knows how old some of these are.
  • I found a recipe for making your own protein powder online. It's much cheaper, and you can add whatever you want to it to boost the protein. Plus, it's super simple: 3 cups non-fat powdered milk, 1 cup dry oats, 1 cup raw almonds. Blend it all up. A serving is 1/2c. You can add greek yogurt, a sweetner, gound flax,…
  • Eat a small amount of almond butter, maybe a teaspoon to a tablespoon. It works for me every. single. time. I have the kind that you have to grind yourself at either Whole Foods or Fresh Thyme.
  • Does the Philadephia Cream Cheese brand still sell those individually wrapped chunks of cheesecake?
  • I take a B-complex pill daily. My mom and I (sometimes) were getting cramps in our legs, so we tried different suggestions. Nothing worked. After some research, I found that B was supposed to help. I've taken one daily for a long time now, and the cramps have gone away. My mom doesn't take one daily, but she takes one,…
  • Occasionally, I will actually be awakened by hunger. I have found that the only thing that helps me is a small bite of almond butter, the kind that you'd grind yourself (nothing but almonds and maybe a slight bit of salt.) If I had to guess on the amount I eat in those moments, I'd say it's less than a teaspoon, probably…
  • I only recently found this site and started tracking everything. Maybe I'm weird, but I think it's kind of fun. I work on logging everything the night before, so I can be sure it all fits in the numbers. This makes it easy the next day, when all I have to do is grab the food and run. Since I've started, I haven't eaten out…
